Makes ice fairly quick. The water side tank is more of a necessity than I expected. Glad I opted for the model with the side tank. The ice nuggets are great and improve many drinks. The unit is fairly loud when making ice. I currently have it on my kitchen counter, but plan to place it in a nearby room within a vented cabinet. The noise is too disruptive to have this unit running in a high traffic and/or small space. Running this unit on a schedule allows you to manage the noise. A small annoyance is the unit drips water from the ice bin, when opening the bin. A drip tray is included, but is not aesthetically pleasing.

Excellent ice maker! I've been looking for a "good ice" maker that would fit in my kitchen and keep the ice ready. This machine makes really great ice. It makes some noise when it's actually making ice. Sounds like the humming of a refrigerator or dishwasher. Not bad... and only when it's making more ice after you get some out for your drinks. I would definitely recommend this machine. Actually, just did recommend it yesterday!!

Love the pellet ice. It’s easy to operate and not as loud as the cheaper brands.

This ice nugget maker is the best! It was easy to put together, and the entire family loves this kind of ice for their drinks!! We went with the excellent used, because the price tag is extremely hefty for an ice maker.

Easily the best ice maker that I have ever bought. It is great for cocktails. The side water tank makes a huge difference. I thought I would spend every day filling up the tank, but it turns out I only have to do it every couple of days. The best feature is how fast it makes ice. It takes a bout a hour to make ice to fill around half the bin. ☺️. 10 out 10 would recommend. The WiFi features are a bit gimmicky, so don't buy it for that reason.

This is great for the most part. As far as making ice, this is wonderful. It makes more noise than I thought but it is not overly annoying. Our first one had an internal failure within the first 6 weeks, BB covered it and gave us a new one about 2 months ago and it has worked great so far. Get the protection plan for this!

This ice maker is awesome! I purchased it after receiving two damaged ones from NewAir. GE costs more but was well worth it. The set up was easy and I love the side tank to keep the ice flowing. After hearing the noise from the other machines, this little hum is a cake walk. I am looking forward to having my friends over to meet my new found friend! No more trips to Sonic for ice :-)

I love nugget ice and this machine makes it so easy! I set the timer through my phone so I can have fresh ice when I get home from work! This is my second Opal ice maker. And what I will buy every time as long as they make it!

Unit makes great nugget ice relatively quickly. Makes plenty of ice for 2-4 people. My only complaints are that it is a bit noisy(sits next to large fridge and it is much noisier than its larger counterpart) and there is no water line connection option. I have to refill it with 1 gallon about once a week with average use by two adults.

I love it. It works great. Makes great, soft ice. It is a little noisy, but you get used to it.

I clean this thing every month, but it is constantly making noise and has like scale and other buildup throughout the machine and tuning. I use RO water, but to no avail.

So I really like the ice out of this ice machine. That being said, buy the extended warranty. This is my 3rd GE ice maker in 18 months because they tend to have issues. I am religious about cleaning this unit weekly and descaling monthly. I use distilled water for the ice. This machine still breaks anywhere from the 6 month to 1 year mark. The ice is great! But the machine has durability issues. So pay a little bit extra at the front end because I can almost guarantee you will be replacing it. Ive done it 3 times. Sidenote- the return process with Bestbuy is pretty easy!

Love the ice. Only drawback is having to clean it and filling up the side tank.

Love this ice maker. My freezer's ice maker broke to where warranty couldn't fix it and I received a store gift card for where I purchased the fridge/freezer. Instead of fixing the original one, I purchased a counter top ice maker. Since then, every year I seem to need to replace the counter top ice maker. Because of that I was looking for something that would last a little longer. I was hesitant to purchase this one considering the price and my experience in having to replace so often. I have had this one for several months and have had no issues. The only thing I don't like is the side tank... It doesn't balance in my sink under the RO dispenser so I have to hold it there the entire time it fills. I also work from home so I am constantly getting ice water throughout the day all week long rather than just at dinner time. The ice is small, which is my preference, but it doesn't produce enough to supply drinks for a party... For every day use it is great though.

Was over at a friends home & saw this. Immediately I knew I had to get it. Was not disappointed as mine has been working overtime. Makes great Ice & the WIFEY loves it. Easy to use, out of the box with some minor hooks up (hoses & connectors) and KaBoom...you are making ice. Good ice (pebble)

You know you've reached the climax of adulthood when you get excited about an ice maker. If you want tasty nugget / pearl ice at an affordable price, this is the machine for you. Don't accidently get the Opal 1, it is Opal 2 or nothing. I could make some minor design improvements, but overall it is the best machine at the best price for my budding family's needs. Why don't they put these types of machines in fridges already? YOLO

Easy to set up, love the ice. Small enough to fit under cabinets, yet makes plenty of ice.

Absolutely love this ice machine. It is quite compared to most machines and this ice is perfect. Although it is pricey, I am hoping the life of the machine makes it worth it.

Ice maker works as advertised. It looks good and so far makes enough ice.
