Get the warranty, even using water that goes through a whole house filter and then a reverse osmosis and thennn my refrigerator filter…i still got enough buildup to need the warranty replacemet about every year. But best buys warranty process makes it easy. I get a gc to buy a new one and the net cost for me is the cost of the warranty each year since the gc doesnt cover the cost of a warranty on the new unit i buy each time

Fluffy ice!

The machine itself was super loud and very hot. My aunt has one without the issues my unit had. I feel like mine may have been a returned unit and/or just a fluke. Her unit works well and always has fluffy ice. It's a treat we looked forward to when we visited her and decided to get our own.

Please review page 13 of the owner's manual for a description of the sounds you should expect to hear. Also, make sure the ice maker is installed in a well-ventilated area with an ambient temperature between 55°F and 90°F. Do not place the machine near heat sources such has ovens or cooktops. “Good ice” ice maker

It is easy to use & makes all of the ice that I need without even using the reserve tank. I highly recommend it.

The app is a little buggy but still works

I love this machine. My first one lasted almost 5 years but luckily I bought the extra warranty and Bestbuy just gave me another when it quit. Would still but it again even tho that happened.

High Price but Good Ice

She raves about it and says it was the best gift we could buy her! It fits on her countertop nicely and doesn’t require a water line.

I was done with buying bags and told my husband that we’re probably spending about the same amount with all the bags we’ve bought! I had a little ice maker but it couldn’t keep up with my ice intake :) So we went to Best Buy to look for one. As soon as I walked in, I saw this beauty and said yep, she’s coming home with me!! I’ve had her for over a year now and she’s paid for herself numerous times. IF YOU LOVE ICE AS MUCH AS I DO, GET THIS ICE MAKER! This was best investment that I ever purchased! The WiFi and the app to let you know when to clean it, or to add more water is so convenient. Y'all get one, especially if you love that Sonic ice!

GE Opal Nugget Ice Maker 2.0

It is rather expensive for the issues that you will encounter though. I have had to exchange this one twice in the first 2 weeks. One leaked the other was making loud noise. The one I have now is working great. Make sure to keep filtered water going through it not straight tap and it will last for years. Otherwise plan on it having issues within a year.

The ice was great, and it worked really well until it didn't. After about 8 months of ownership, it started making horrible squeaking noises. We watched some YouTube videos and tried to fix it to no avail. Still loudly squeaking. Not worth over $500 for only 8 months.

Posted .Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that your unit is causing a squeaking noise concern. If may be that that your unit is going into defrost mose We have found that your Opal Ice Maker Dispenser will defrost when it is needed. When your Opal needs defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice begins to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic and usually takes about 10 to 20 minutes. This is a normal operation. What is not normal is if your Opal Ice Maker Dispenser is going into Defrost mode too frequently, for example, every day, or goes into Defrost but there are no audible sounds indicating that the auger is frozen. If this happens, it is highly likely the air vents are blocked. If airflow is constricted, the machine will not produce ice normally. We would suggest reviewing the troubleshooting tips for this in your use and care guide from the website here (page 14)-https://content.syndigo.com/asset/6156244d-7fe1-4d30-bf7b-ce7ecd405b25/original.pdf. If you find that after troubleshooting, you are still experiencing the loud squeaking then please review the warranty details at the same link (page 19). Dianna@GE Profile

Fantastic for our highly active home when the fridge's ice machine alone isn't enough volume to keep up. We have experienced one issue - one of the bearings in the machine has started to squeak/squeal. We are going through the exchange process to get a new one. Highly reccomend the machine, but would rather be honest about the performance issue after only 8 months of regular use.
