I don’t know what we would do without this ice maker. It works great, stays clean, and has all the bells and whistles necessary. Used everyday! Worth the money compared to any other ice maker.

I was looking for a nugget ice maker. The does the job, but it has some issues. You have to constantly have to clean it. At times, it also make a loud squeaky noise.

I LOVE my machine! We have had it for almost two years and we are just now having some minor issues. It can be a bit of a pain to constantly keep it clean but it’s worth its upkeep. Everyone loves it.

As absurd as this next statement may sound I now understand what people mean when they speak about the "good ice". I won't bore you with all the detailed specs as you could read them on this page or on GE's website but as far as ease of use and speed of ice production, I give this an 11 out of 10 it is something I didn't know I needed so badly that now my family cannot live without.... I haven't quite figured out the best way to display it yet as I really didn't want it to be just sitting on my countertop, although it is aesthetically pleasing enough that if you have no other choice, it's not going to detract from your kitchen/bar area especially compared to other similar ice machine units from other manufacturers, this GE opal, especially in the black stainless steel color really knocks it out of the park and is the best looking unit. The only complaint I would have to give even though as far as I understand this is an issue with all home icemakers is the cleaning process. I literally dread this process and where I live in South Jersey we have it pretty easy water wise as I don't have to de-scale it at all, as there is no hard water build up in machine almost 6 months in. One thing I did notice is that even after just a couple days of use after cleaning it if you feel the bottom of the holding tank (i'm not talking about the extra side tank I'm talking about just the main holding tank under the ice tray) it feels a little too slimy for my comfortability, and I even rigged up the machine so that it runs off of my reverse osmosis system that is re-mineralized (as the reverse osmosis process removes even the healthy minerals) so as an added piece of mind, I purchased the extra filter you can get for like $18 on Amazon that goes in the bottom of that holding tank instead of that little stupid good for nothing square screen and since then I've been able to get away with about 3 to 4 weeks before I have to do a complete clean, which involves completely filling the main holding tank and draining it 3 to 4 times while running a cleaning cycle the first of which includes a teaspoon of just regular bleach. The whole process takes about 30 to 40 minutes and it is not really that bad it's just more of an annoyance, but I'll deal with that small annoyance for the availability of great tasting fresh ice whenever I want it. I find myself drinking than usual and I do not regret this purchase one bit. also, I should mention that this is my second unit as the first unit I purchased broke about five months in and replaced it. No problem after I allowed them to put a $400 hold on my credit card to ensure that I sent back my old malfunctioning unit but since then it has been smooth sailing. This thing is awesome. It makes a lot of ice fast. I love crusted ice and this is the small nugget ice that makes your cold drinks taste the best. Thinking of buying a second one. The only con is it makes a loud groaning noice accessionally.

Purchased this about 3 weeks ago and so happy we did! Makes great ice and easy on the teeth. Would definitely recommend!

We’ve had this for 9 months and absolutely LOVE it!!! We go through A LOT of ice and this little thing keeps up! We always use filtered water and it runs and operates perfectly.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife. As it was pricey she was happy with being several gifts in one! So far she has been happy with it. The only issues that I would recommend you consider before buying is location, noise, and ease of use. Location: it takes up a lot of counter space. Plus our tube got kinked up behind the maker and it quit several times until we moved it. The tube is soft and kinks easily. Noise: it is an ice maker so there is noise associated with it making ice. Louder than expected but we moved it into our laundry room. Ease of Use: filling the reservoir with water every 2-3days is not fun (my wife uses it constantly so it is always making ice. Overall it has made my life somewhat easier because my wife loves it. So less, gifts I have to buy this year for her! And I don’t have to hear how I don’t buy her things she doesn’t really like!

I've had this about a month now and really enjoy having chewy ice for my drinks, I believe this has helped me consume more water. Based on other reviews I opted for the 4 year geek squad warranty. I can confirm what other reviewers say...this thing is noisy when making ice....and will start running every time you get ice out of the bin. The App does does help keep up with cleaning and filter replacement schedules, wish the App name began with 'GE' thought because sometimes it takes me a while to remember that it's called SmartHQ. Not sure ow much the filter helps, I only add water that's been through my Berkey water filter, but 1 month in and the app is telling me I need to replace my filter, but I suppose it may be something to keep up with since the ice melt is reprocessed into new ice.

This machine started producing ice 10 minutes after set up. Love the side tank so that we always have plenty of ice. If you love Chick Fil A ice, this is the machine for you!

The ice is fantastic and it’s easy to use. Only negative is the worry about mold buildup but ive been keeping up with the cleanings so far and no problems.

Great little machine. Our refrigerator's ice maker is consistently breaking down so we bought this standalone machine to supplement our ice supply. Easy to set up and as long in use distilled water it stays pretty clean. Makes ice in minutes. Worth the price to us.

This is a good little ice machine. Makes the fun nugget ice that we all love, but it is noisy, and can be difficult to setup and clean.

Can be very noisy, but found 2 tricks to avoid the noise. Make sure water never gets empty, only have it on for an hour or so, you can program it to come back on in an hour or so, this limits the defrost and fan usage. Otherwise it makes ice very fast.

This product makes amazing ice. It really is great. However, I will say I’ve been through three of them where it just stops making ice. I finally just said no more.

Easy to set-up, fantastic ice. Purchased this as a less expensive alternative to a built in ice-maker, as it's the only one that doesnt require a drain, and recirculates the melted water instead.

My husband was skeptical. He wanted a large ice maker, like huge. I wanted practical, so we purchased this knowing we’ve had great luck with GE appliances and that we could return it if we hated it. We love it! There are many reviews saying the app doesn’t work and the instructions are not for the 2.0, (the instructions are for the side table as an accessory). So very confusing, as we were looking for a filter that apparently isn’t needed and tried three apps before we found the right one. But it’s great! We still have enough ice in the morning (we make ice in the afternoon/evening and then shut it off before we go to bed) for a to go cup. The ice stays frozen most of the day in my stainless cup. The ice nuggets are small, I was surprised and thought they’d melt quickly but not so. The machine is extremely quiet, good looking and clean. We can start and stop it from the app, and I believe it tells us if it’s out of water. I highly recommend.

I love this thing. The ice is smazing. It is super quiet. Makes tons of ice and tastes great. Let's me know when to clean it. So happy with my purchase and the extra water tank.

I love this ice machine! I love the nugget ice. The noise it makes is nothing big or disturbing. I’ve had this for almost 2 years and I just had to take it in because it stopped functioning correctly. My suggestion is for you to buy warranty! Either way I would purchase it again. Highly recommend but because it’s a big purchase I would buy the longest warranty available.

It has done its job well. It produces the ice very quickly. Easy to use and set up.
