We bought this Opal 2.0 Ultra Ice Maker as a gift for our son, after owning and being very pleased with the same ice maker for both our permanent residence and our second home. So, this is the third Opal 2.0 Ultra Ice machine we have purchased. To be sure, the scale inhibiting filter will need to be replaced every month or so, and proper sanitization and cleaning is simply a fact of life with these machines. We always use tap water to make ice. We make sure to clean and sanitize the unit and replace the filter on a monthly basis. I went ahead and bought the 4 year extended maintenance plan offered by BestBuy for each of the machines..."just in case", but have never had to use that service. Bottom line is that this Opal 2.0 Ultra Ice Machine is probably the most used appliance in our kitchen and is definitely the most popular appliance with our guests...All of our visiting friends have LOVED it! Go ahead and buy one, you (and your friends) won't regret it!

This is a good machine and great on making ice, but everything has a bump on the road. Its worth the price I paid for it.

I love my ice maker. Silent, fast and the ice is perfect. Easy to setup and easy to clean.

I like the ice maker, it works great! The only reason for giving 4 star in place of 5 is because I went round and round (over 30 mins) with the silly call center while trying to get in contact with my local store. (And they still didn’t help me). The foreign, barely-speak-English call center is a joke and not helpful whatsoever. They just keep transferring you off to someone else. The ice maker is great though.

This is the best thing since indoor plumbing :-) I love my ice machine. This is the GOOD ice, chewable, small nuggets. A must get if you like ice in all your drinks or just like eating the ice.

Perfect ice! The machine needs to be sanitized every week, the process is easy but can seem tedious. I personally like the reminder so I know there’s not mold/bacteria build up, which was a problem I had with the smaller ice machines. Ice is made quickly!

We love the ice it makes. We don’t like that. It doesn’t last very long before it breaks down. I checked that I would recommend people getting this, but only if you buy the warranty. We’re on our third one.

This ice maker is great. The ice tray isn’t refrigerated but as ice melts it makes new ice so there is always a tray full of ice. Couldn’t be happier with it

My family loves the ice from this machine, BUT it makes a really loud screeching and grinding sound. This does not happen all of the time, but fairly often. We returned the first unit we purchased and got a second one. The second one makes the exact same sound. We previously had an older model of this unit, and it quit making ice after a couple of years.

Ideally shaped ice!! Was in between ice makers for the longest but settled on best reviews for price & although steep in price, maintenance is kid friendly.

I love how much ice this machine makes. I recently had a party, and my ice maker did not disappoint. I purchased back-up ice just in case I ran out but it wasn't used. The ice machine would be a great purchase for anyone needing a machine.

I love it!! So far has been my best purchase. The texture of the ice and the taste is the best. Plus, it’s really easy to clean, technically the machine cleans itself.
