Loved the ice, they just didn't work right.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So we bought one, got it home and was excited about using it, well it leaked water from the bottom, water came out where the screws are on the bottom so we took it back and got another one just like it. We were still excited about using the second one. We got it set up and tried it out and no water leaks, andit was making ice.We thought, this is great! Then it started making a really loud squealing noise a couple hours later. We turned it off, unplugged it and set it up again, we tried working with it for a few day and it would always start squealing so we took it back. We are so disappointed because we really loved the one our son has. I would upload a video with the noise it made but it's not giving me the option.

The descale lights shows up frequently; even after cleaning 3 days earlier? My family loves the ice nuggets!

It makes the best chewable nugget ice out there. But keep in mind it comes at a price, be prepared for routine cleaning of your machine to keep it performing at its peak. To me it’s worth the time and effort because I like to eat a lot of ice. This is my second GE Opal and I highly recommend it!

Makes great ice, easy to use, and the black color actually hides well in the corner of the countertop, so it is not an eyesore (which was an initial concern when we bought it). Recommend using distilled water for crystal clear nuggets and minimum mineral scaling build up

If it wasn’t for Best Buy’s protection plan, I’d buy something else. The last two squealed terribly bad. And now this one needs to be sanitized every five days; which seems ridiculous. I spend more time sanitizing the ice make than i do using it. I think it’s time for me to move on from this very expensive ice maker and find something of higher quality. Very disappointed in the product, extremely satisfied with Best Buy’s service.
