But this one is hands down so much better. Upgrades include a metal scoop, magnetic holder fir the scoop, water filter, a filter for the cooling fan, and an illuminated reminder to sanitize the unit every 25 hours of run time. Keeps you honest on maintenance. Setup is easy. Seems like ice making has speeded up. Lesson learned from my old unit, USE DISTILLED WATER! I absolutely love this updated unit. The Wifi setup is even easier to do now. Well done GE.

Turned it off, waited an hour and turned it back on. Within 10 minutes the scream was back. I owned an older model Opal for 6 years and never had an issue. The new ones seem to have some inherent problem with this issue.

It has been a great ice maker clean and efficient as advertised. There has been no issue since I purchased it months ago I followed manufacturers guidelines and off it went working … can I get please get refrigerator that works this well with built ice maker.
