    Add Water… Fault

    DO NOT BUY! I’ve had this ice maker for over a year. During this time, the Add Water light came even though the water container was full. I called GE customer service to get help. I accomplished all the troubleshooting steps the representative asked and the machine still didn’t work. The machine was out of Best Buy’s warranty but within GE’s warranty. They did replace the machine, but they don’t make it easy. A little over a month later I received a replacement. I’ve had it for a month and guess what. The ADD WATER fault happened with this machine too!! Ugh… Again, DO NOT BUY! The ice maker costs too much to have this problem.

    Dont buy this!

    My daughter purchased this for us last May 6, 2024. This past April it started acting up. They told her to do this, do that. You will have to have someone come look at it. Didnt even have it one year and would not let us return for a new one. 500+ for an ice maker that didn’t last a year and wouldnt give you a new one. So it is sitting in a box and we will eventually have to throw it away. Very disappointed. If a product can’t last a year, its junk!

    Need a new one after 2 years.

    Pretty disappointed after a year and a half of use we are having all kinds of issues. Excessive defrosting even after cleaning out all the vents. Constantly having issues with it thinking the ice trey is full when there is no ice at all. Pretty expensive countertop appliance to work for less than 2 years.

      This isn't what we expect to hear and truly apologize for the issues you are having and understand how upsetting this is for you. We would like to provide some troubleshooting tips that may help. If the water well is filled to the upper fill line and no ice is being produced, please perform this simple test: 1. Please start the Opal and switch to cleaning mode. Don't forget to detach the side tank. 2. Remove the screen/filter at the bottom corner of the reservoir, exposing the small white rubber inlet used for water circulation. 3. Make certain that the Opal is not connected to the phone app and that the water well is filled to the upper fill line with distilled water. 4. Remove the ice bin and press the button to see if the Opal pumps water. This could take up to 5 minutes to start. 5. Plug the small inlet with your finger for 10-15 seconds to create a vacuum within the pump/circulation system. 6. Release the plug and wait a minute or until you see water movement. 7. If you do not see a change, you may want to repeat these steps a couple of times. Note: If you see water movement, please switch to ice mode and run for 30 minutes. **You may also need to prime your pump so try using a Turkey Baster/Injector and gently fill the hose that doesn't go to the side tank with water, and then restart the machine. If this doesn't help, please reach out to Opal Service at 1-866-907-6718, M-F 8:00-8:00 EST. GE_Appliances

    These things do not last a year!!! No amount of cleaning or taking care of the machine will change that. I went to the store return my Opal that clunked out on me after 11 months and I had to pay extra for a new one since they didn't make the one I had anymore. What a scam...Bestbuy charged me 100 dollars for a 5 year warranty and still made me pay. Best Buy and GE is not standing behind their products.

    Ice maker gets stuck in add water mode. Nothing would make it work. Reordered the product, thinking that the one I had was a lemon, and was sent a broken unit that had been used and was damaged. I returned for refund. Very frustrated and disappointed with this product.
