It works non stop. I usually don't use ice, until we bought this machine. I love the nugget ice machine, I now out ice in my water.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So far so good, produces a LOT of ice in a small amount of time, not too noisy we have it in our bar room and its nice to be able to turn off and on from the app. Overall seems to be doing a great job - will also only be using distilled water to hopefully limit the amount of cleaning required. Works great but overpriced in my opinion.

They expect you to take it apart, fill it with vinegar, let it soak for 18 hours every single month. Not to mention the sanitizing using bleach. And to add to it, we’ve had it 4 months and it stopped working. It says “add water” even though it’s full. I’ve tried every troubleshooting article and video I can find and nothing fixed the problem.

Posted .Thank you for sharing your experience and concerns regarding the recommended descaling and sanitizing procedures needed to properly care for your Opal. The scale inhibiting filter will filter 40 gallons of water before needing to be replaced. Replacement will be approximately every 3 months, though it will depend on your usage. If the reservoir is full and you receive the "add water" message, that may be an indication that the filter needs to be replaced. If this doesn't resolve the issue you're having, we encourage you to send us (GE Appliances) a private message on one of our social channels (Facebook, Instagram) with your contact information, model and serial numbers and a copy of your review so we can research your situation. -Vikki@GEAppliances

The cleaning process can be tedious but it is totally worth it. I would recommend cleaning weekly with water, vinegar, and bleach. Or you can purchase ice machine cleaner online.

I thought at first that it was a want not a need. It turns out that now I can't see my home without it. It was a good and useful purchase for my home and family, The ice is addicting, good taste and chewable.
