Initially worked great, then motor started making loud noise and ice making stopped. Needless to say returned to store and will not be purchasing this brand again.

This issue came out in July and we bought this ice market in mid September

We recommend making sure you've performed the full cleaning and descaling process; care and cleaning instructions are available starting on page 7 of the manual. That manual can be viewed on the Best Buy product page when you pull up the 'Features' section and scroll to the bottom. If you're still seeing the light after performing the full process, we recommend disconnecting the unit from power for 3 to 4 hours before reconnecting. If you continue to have an issue after resetting, please send us a private message via our GE Appliances Facebook, Instagram, X, or TikTok with your contact information, the complete model/serial numbers, and a copy of this review.
Stopped working

Posted .We would like to help and provide some guidance. We recommend only using distilled water in your Opal to help reduce the potential for mineral buildup. It is recommended that you follow the instructions in the owner’s manual for your unit regarding the schedule of running descaling and sanitizing cycles. Using vinegar in the descaling cycle can help break up the minerals as well.
It’s important to note that distilled water is different from bottled water, reverse osmosis water, filtered water, or spring water. All of these other options contain varying levels of minerals that can build up in the unit and impede optimal operation. Using distilled water reduces the frequency of descaling and cleaning. Using our scale-inhibiting filter, part P4INKSFLTR, is designed to increase the time between cleanings and reduces the solidification of scale.
It is also recommended that there be at least 4” of clearance in the back, on both sides, and above the Opal to allow proper air flow so that the fan can move air about the unit.
