There’s a high pitch whine coming from the dishwasher during its first wash. Sounds like a motor that’s trying to spin but is stuck. I bought the 3 year warranty so I’ll try and get this fixed.

DW wouldn’t drain. They said it was a bad pump and replaced with another that did the same thing. I finally just said to pick it up. I am going to use another vendor. BestBuy has been totally disappointing when it comes to delays in delivery and installation

The wheels keep falling off of this brand new dishwasher and the door is misaligned so it doesn't latch properly. My old GE's were much better than this! I'd never buy this model again.

It is a beautiful quiet machine. It works wonderfully. It is sturdy as well. It replaced a Samsung and it has held up so much better than the Samsung model. We have 5 children who have lots of dishes and don’t go easy on this machine.

    H2o error code

    Posted .

We bought this dishwasher, including the installation, in March of 2020. I really liked this dishwasher for the first two years. It was quiet, did a great job washing my dishes. At just over two years old, we started to get a H2O error code and it wouldn't start the cycle. I run my dishwasher daily and this error code would happen about once a week. We called an appliance company. They tried their best to repair it. They replaced the control board, the inlet valve, float switch, water hose, as well as both electrical harneses. After eight visits from the repairman, we thought it was fixed. Two months later, the same problem has returned. H20 error code shows up most nights now and we'll be forced to replace it ASAP. Lesson learned- no more GE dishwashers for us.

Wheels on bottom rack tend to pop off the rack

Amazing that GE cannot design a plastic wheel that can stay attached. Wheels on bottom rack tend to pop off the rack. They are easy to put back on as long as you find them before they melt, should they come to rest near the heating element. The rack tines and spikes are badly aimed and do not favor positioning of bowls for maximum cleaning by the water jets. The interior develops a red slime on the bottom pan and on the door seal. It that needs to be wiped out every so often. I use Cascade gel, and I fill the reservoir to the top. Not sure why this red slime proliferates. Maybe due to old food particles. My dishwasher has been in use for 1 year and is good at getting dishes clean. Quiet (not as quiet at a Samsung 39 db dishwasher) enough to not be distracting or intrusive while enjoying a peaceful morning in the kitchen.

Great while it lasted. Dead in two years. For a new fancy dishwasher this thing really didn't have staying power. Less than two years after purchase and it's leaking copious amounts of water out of the center bottom. The appliance repair dude said it would need to be replaced. Greeaaat. Thanks, GE. Time to try a different manufacturer.

GE Junk - Stay Away - Failed less than 5 years

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Like others have said, the latch on our GE Dishwasher is preventing the unit to allow a wash cycle. The latch is made of plastic & somehow is not recognizing the door is closed. Like how cheap can GE make it? :( The GE Dishwasher along with a GE Stove, Microwave, and Refrigerator, was purchased in April 2017 for a complete kitchen makeover. The dishwasher is not working & it's less than 5 years old. Typically it was run once a week. Please do yourself a favor & do not purchase any GE appliances, especially since they're now made by the Chinese company Haier. Cheap Chinese appliances with low quality control. Previously we've purchased Kenmore appliances, which lasted decades. Guessing customer service will say you need to have a service technician take look at the problem. Yeah and it'll cost about half the price of a new non-GE appliance. There are many appliance choices, so be forewarned about GE products. Basically GE Appliances have a life expectancy of a few years. In the past we have purchased Kenmore appliances, which have lasted decades. That's not the case with GE Appliances (Chinese Haier company).

Missing important part that caused massive leak

I bought this new, in the box. I installed the dishwasher myself and when I tried a test run, all the water ran right out underneath onto the floor, we're talking a couple gallons of water. I have some appliance repair experience, so I pulled the dishwasher back out to see what the problem was. It was missing the turbidity sensor, which is installed underneath on the drain sump by the drain hose. So basically there was a big hole just letting all the water run right out of the machine. I bought the dishwasher through Best Buy, but I figured I would call GE first since it's their product. I talked to at least 5 different people only to be put on hold and reconnected with someone else. I finally gave up and called Best Buy. What a difference. Within 10 minutes I had a return and replacement scheduled. The soonest they could get me a new one is almost 2 weeks out, but that's okay. GE customer service 1 star Best Buy customer service 5+ stars The dishwasher seems nice, but I didn't run it more than 15 seconds. I will definitely be inspecting the new one more carefully before I install it

Weak roller wheels of the bottom rack .

Overall good so far after 8 mos of operation. BUT , the bottom rack is flimsy and the roller wheels come undone and fall on the bottom of the washer. The bottom rack, when loaded, trips on the guiding rail of the door when you pull it out and if it is not pulled out straight , the clipped wheels come apart. We had to replace them twice already . Not good .

I bought this product based on positive experiences with past GE products. Big mistake. The dishwasher stopped working after three months. GE sent several replacement parts to my home, and sent two technicians to diagnose and fix the broken machine. But, still at the end of the day, the dishwasher doesn’t work. My dishes have a granular residue from the soap, and there is always standing water in the basin. GE continues to give me the run around, sending more parts and technicians to my house (which require me to be home from work for half the day). I’ve lost all hope in GE products, and I vow to share my experience with as many people as possible. Never again will I buy GE.
