I wasn't so sure about the new VR craze, but this came as a bonus with me new phone and it is great! It even has some benefits over the "full" headsets like the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive. It's portable, wirelessly connected (via your phone), and offers much of the same kind of experience. If you have a compatible device it is absolutely the best entry level VR device, but even then you might opt for this over a fully featured set for casual use, which is generally how I use it.

If you are looking to test the waters in the world of Virtual Reality, this is the absolute best way to do it! You might ask why is this such a big deal? How is this different from looking at 360 videos online or playing games on my 90 inch TV? The big deal is this: imagine you no longer have the rectangular shape of the TV in front of you. Instead, you are surrounded in the video or the game environment. It is all around you as if you were looking through your own eyes. Moving your head does just that, it moves the environment. instead of looking at a screen and pressing UP on the controller to view a massive dinosaur or tall tree, you stand there the way you would in the real world and you LOOK UP. Yes, there are reviews saying it is not HD video, but when you start getting lost in the experience, the resolution is the LAST thing you will be thinking about. You won't notice it. Trust me, I am a person that exclusively buys Blu-Ray movies for the clarity and I'm telling you the VR experience is what matters and is what blows away any thought of HD video. Oh, and the physical unit itself looks, feels, and is very sturdy. It is also very comfortable and doesn't feel front-heavy on your head if adjusted correctly.

I received this VR free as part of a promotion. I was very skeptical about it. I really didn't think that I would use it. But, I gave it a try. All I can say is wow! It actually works! It's a little bulky but I'm okay with that since I use it in the comfort of my home.

The kids love these. I also enjoy them. The Google maps is like being there. They use the battery pretty good, and the phone gets a little warm. But would buy again.

Overheats my phone after 10 mins or more. Not sure if it's just my phone or if the product does have enough ventilation holes or what.

The Gear VR currently has a limited number of apps and videos that work with it , But as time goes on more and more apps will be introduced. The $99 price tag is a great value for what you get.

The couple things that would make this better is if they develop a way to incorporate the rest of your body into the 3D, and if the viewer were able to watch certain shows and be in the show, unable to interact mind you but just walk around to an extent and see things

Once you get used to the features AND find out if it's compatible with your type of Samsung Galaxy phone, you WILL have a GREAT experience with this product!

Came with Samsung S7 and was not quite sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the experience. I have only played a few times with the games the came with it and I can see it getting addictive. Would recommend that you sit in a office type swivel type chair that is unrestricted as it can be disorienting if your are standing. It does suck up battery so recommend you start with fully charged battery but it does have connection for a charger for extended play. I do wear glasses but was able to focus it in without them but it does fit over them also if you really need to wear them to.

We were able to try out Gear VR at a friend's house and were impressed. Glad to have our own; they've already provided hours of viewing and entertainment.

Bought this as a gift. Graphics are great, and our family has had a lot of fun with it. Have to be careful, because the phone does heat up rather quickly.

I like the ease of using the gear vr. I don't care for how front heavy it is, but that's to be expected.

To start, I also own the original consumer version (ie. NOT "developer" edition) of the Gear VR, so this is primarily a simple comparison of both. In essence, the new Gear VR is better than the original in several ways. First, and most importantly, the lenses are more adjustable than the original, providing a better view. Speaking of view, the angle of view is also better, providing a more immersive experience. The physical controls have also been better placed, and upgrade, making it slightly more easy to take control. In regards to "control", when playing games, I highly recommend using a real controller (best choice: SteelSeries Stratus XL) over the Gear VR's touch "controllers". While it's more an aesthetics thing, I prefer the new blue color, over the original white. Comfort-wise, I haven't really noticed any difference. So, the real question is, "Is it worth it?" If you don't already have the original, and are looking to get a Gear VR, undoubtedly, YES...get it. The improvements are worth it, even taking into consideration Best Buy's lowered $70 price for the old model. Of course, if you have a Galaxy Note 7 (as I do, or any future Samsung handsets (which are virtually-guaranteed to utilize USB-C ports), then you have no choice but to get the new version. On the other hand, if you already have the old model (this is only for those with handsets utilizing the microUSB port), and are considering the new model, whether, or not, it's worth it for you to spend another $100, that's entirely up to you. For me, it was worth it. Besides,. my wife has a Galaxy S6, so I gave her the old Gear VR, and I got the new one to use with my Note 7 (and, before any "exploding phone" jokes are posted, yes, already have the replacement...got the day they were released).

This was a most pleasant surprise when we pre-ordered our S7 edge phones! We could use these all day and be transported to foreign lands, tour museums, surf and even play video games and be completely immersed! Thank you Best Buy for this great entertainment device...just makes these phones that much more FUN! The only thing we will warn unsuspecting customers is to make sure that you use these where you have wi-fi connection or you will go through your monthly data plans in a heartbeat!!! It is so easy to get carried away so be warned :) Now, go out, get one and have a blast!!!

Got this with my free phone upgrade - let me tell you, this is the future. Great graphics, easy to use, very immersive. I would absolutely have paid for this!

The Oculus Gear VR is a great way to experience vitual reality at a lower cost. The Note 5 is a little difficult to put in the headgear as it fits tight, but all in all a fun experience.

Con, only one source of technical support. If Oculus trains Geek Squad and Samsung in store tech support they will have a great product.

While it is great, I only wish you could use the 360 degree videos from YouTube like you are right there in the video. Other than that,, it works perfect. Products for it are easy to download and use.

The VR is amazing and lots of fun. I just wish they would fix where the phone doesn't get so hot

One of the best VR headsets on the market at a great price. Compatible with multiple newer phones. You and family/friends will have a blast with this!
