They also worked hard to set up my computer the way I wanted and needed, In addition, they worked with me to try various different items to make sure that I had the info that I needed. I was very happy with each person 3 different times !!

Covers all three of my computers for three years!

Came with free WebRoot protection which has given me headaches on one of my systems.

Poor Geek Service and Hard Sell
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The first time I brought the PC in for repair I was told that the only way they would look at is if I bought a service contract. At the same time the salesperson was adamant that I needed to by a different virus software that what I was running. Three more trips and the tech said they couldn't repair, guessed it was the bios battery or the motherboard and I would have to send out for 5 weeks. I didn't like the hard sell for service/software and I especially think the techs should be able to test the bios battery and the motherboard to determine which component is failing and test that on the first trip.

ASUS COMPUTER repair

I was not able to get a repair time because of many "hold" and "Please wait's". I was upset because of my efforts and significant distance traveled, I was discourteous and visibly upset.....I was told it would be an hour and a half.....when Chris, noted my consternation and offered to help. He said it looked like a simple fix, and offered to take it to repair right away. He noted my previous history of appointments. He, your service repair person fixed the problem within 10 minutes....completely diffusing my upset and making me a fan of Best Buy again! I am thankful and respectful of the type of people you employ...Chris was a good evaluator of my personna and state of mind. Excellent employee and quick to evaluate and conclude the best way to handle a problem. He deserves this compliment and a raise! Mahalo, Bruno West

Cost Effective repair

Apple reps told me I most likely needed to replace the hard drive due to corruption. After letting my computer sit for over a year, I decided to give Best Buy's Geek Squad a call. The representative on the phone advised me of a student promotion going on for discounted membership. he explained that with the membership, all diagnostics and repairs were included and that if any hardware needed to be replaced, that would be the only additional cost. I dropped off my computer with them and they finished conducting their diagnostics ahead of schedule and advised me my computer was ready the next day. No hardware needed to be replaced, it was just a matter of reformatting the drive and installing an updated operating operating system. The individuals at Geek Squad are very knowledgable and helpful and definitely provide admirable customer service. I will definitely return with any other technical questions or problems I may encounter.

Good, but...

Unfortunately separate coverage purchased on previous items CANNOT be folded into this new policy. So you're really stuck until each separate policy expires if you want to renew. Otherwise there's just outstanding $ from your pocket. Also, re: laptops, you're NOT told that 'accidental damage' to a cover is NOT covered. If something happens, you'd then have to shell out (from your own pocket) totally separate $ to get it fixed by GS. Not good; for the $ of GS, 'accidental damage' (vs. hardware/software) should be included.

Quick service.

Other issues were found, viruses, not holding charge,etc. They worked on the computer quickly, but they seemed like they were guessing on why my laptop would not hold charge. After purchasing a battery (which they told me was the reason it did not hold charge; it was not the issue) and a a charger(not the issue). They then say "maybe it is the motherboard". I like my laptop but close to $400.00 later I do not need "guessing". I would not have invested this much if it really was not the issue. I would have bought a new laptop. Which I did, but not at Best Buy. I am slightly disappointed with this portion of the service(s).

Had bought ASUS computers for older two with no problems. Had to replace this one two times! Finally went with an HP. Thank heaven I bought the support!

Outstanding Value and Service

I was impressed by the professionalism and quality of their work. I only use them to service my computers because they always do a better job than in-house personnel. I've had trouble loading software due to a glitch in the software itself. The geek squad members contacted the software developer and kept working with them until they could get a properly loaded. This was seven months ago I use the software every day and there's not been one problem. The geek squad members are always very professional, listen intently and ask questions until they thoroughly understand my situation. I have never left the store without the job being completely done to my satisfaction. I would never consider purchasing a PC without buying a service contract with them. I cannot praise them enough for how well he taking care of me.

GEEK SQUAD WITH EVERY PENNY

VERY PLEASED WITH THE INSTALL AND SERVICE. EVEN SETUP AND SYNCED ALL MY SYSTEMS TOGETHER IN MY THEATRE ROOM. THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY AND CAN DO THE JOB IN HALF THE TIME OF DOING IT YOURSELF. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, EVEN FOR REMOVING WHEN REPAINTING MY WALL, I CALL THEM TO TAKE OF AND ON THE WALL MOUNT. WE BUY THE COMPLETE PACKAGE WITH CALIBRATION WHICH IS VERY COST EFFECTIVE. LINCOLN NEBRASKA TEAM IS EXCELLENT AND NEVER WOULD CALL ANYONE ELSE!

Great Service

I used it to fix some small things and the service was great and turn around time was awesome. Quicker then expected even what my laptop had to be shipped out. I ended up having an issue where my laptop was hacked and when I would start it up it was stuck in "safe mode" when I brought it to geek squad I realized my subscription had run out a month prior and I forgot to renew. The guys there were great and I bought another plan. The service plan is for 2 years. To fix the issue I would have spent the same amount of money for just the fix and that didn't include backing it up. I didn't feel pressured into getting this plan, the service guy took his time to explain each option I had to fix the problem.

Great service!

I called the Geek Squad, and I had appointment to bring it in for evaluation within a day. After I dropped it off on a Friday, the young man assigned to my laptop sent me a message on Sunday that I could make an appointment to pick it up. I was overloading it with too many windows open at the same time. He gave me advice and a cleaned up machine. He was quite courteous as he gave me easy to understand instructions on how to get the most from my limited RAM. Thanks GEEK SQUAD!

First, I went because my old computer had crashed and the cost just to be told it was dead and nothing could be do was to high, I then shopped every store within 50 miles that had desk-top, and serval on line site. I then return to Best Buy to purchase the first one I had liked and at that time purchase a two year cover of Geek, updated the latest software and set up myself with out issue. Geek plan now cover 3 computers. I took the old one back to have hard drive removed and then the clerk said you can buy a new hard drive and we will under your policy install and upload the software item you have purchased, I plan to do this to replace another computer I have and then upgrade it as well, however, I was not told from the beginning I could do this, but I am happy I bought the new one and very please at this point.

Excellent, patience service

Geek Sq. fixed those things and recommended doing a repair that would wipe out the harddrive. I have Carbonite on the computer, andJohn Kibe of the Geek Sq did what had to be done to the hard drive and v. patiently walked me through getting Carvbonite to do what it's supposed to do. I'm pretty much a dolt when it comes to understanding computers and programs and know that I have to be taught every little thing. Mr. John Kibe of the Geek Sq. took me through all that and never expressed consternation at my fumbling and clumsiness. Patience indeed.

Excellent Service

I got a new computer and installed a new solid state hard drive in it. Both brand new. Geek Squad did the installation for me right out of the box, installed the security protection, registered it, and had it all ready for me when they finished. They sat down with me as I logged in for the first time, helped me create passwords, explained how the computer worked (vital for a techno-dummy like me), showed me the insides with my new hard drive and new RAM, and answered all my questions. I feel very secure and have great peace-of-mind knowing they'll be protecting me for the next three years since I don't want to buy another computer, ever. Mahalo!

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After purchasing a 3 year agreement, I encountered issues with my Microsoft 365 Personal software not working properly after a few months of having the Geek Squad loading it onto my new laptop. They investigated why I continuously received message that my software expired after a few months of using the software. They discovered the software activation code was for only a few months instead of the 1 year subscription which I paid for. Since I purchased & install the software from Best Buy they resolved my issue immediately. Planning to purchase another Geek Squad agreement when this agreement expires. Highly recommend the Geek Squad.

They took the time to explain all my questions and make me comfortable with what had to be done. Over all, well worth it. Only one tiny complaint... They told me when my pick up time would be...I live 1 hour and 45 minutes from the closest best buy. They called me 45 minutes before my appointment, however, I didn't get the message until I walked into the store. I wasted gas and half my day only to be told it wasn t ready. Grrrr.. I think they should identified me earlier so I could have made other arrangements for pick up.

Geek Squad service

When I got there the person at the desk(Matt) asked a few questions and then took my computer to see if it could be fixed. He came back and said he would need to keep it for a few days. I was skeptical but left it. I was relieved to get a call about my computer and then a text letting me know it would be done in a few days and nothing would be lost off of my main programs. I received a text to come and get my computer and was pleased to find I had no charge as it was covered under my agreement.

Good experience with Geek Swad

The people that I dealt with were polite and professional. I couldn't get signed onto my device, my password was not being recognized. Despite having Kaspersky Antivirus. They told me that my laptop was corrupt/had viruses and that they would try to remove all the viruses without having to "wipe everything clean" and having to reinstall the operating system. Either way would be the same price 150 & another 50 for a new antivirus and tech support-and tax, of course. My laptop was restored but operates slower than before, I do need to contact them about that. Overall a good experience.
