beautiful movie. intriguing and well animated. always gives me different interpretation every time i watch this movie .grab a copy from best buy for the best price especially on steelbook a true collectors item.

The excellent original is now in 4K. I highly suggest viewing this if you're a fan of intelligent sci-fi, anime/animation, if you haven't heard of it already. Great picture quality as well. Can not recommend this enough.

This edition of the original GITS movie is by far the cleanest visually. The biggest downside, and the thing that seems to give everyone the most pause, is that only the English dub track is available in digital surround (DTS-ES 5.1, I believe). The Japanese audio track is DD 2.0. Which seems like a step backward compared to the 2004 deluxe DVD reissue that had DD and DTS 5.1 tracks for both Eng and Jpn. But, as a GITS franchise die-hard, I had to have it.

I'm not a lover of anime really. Most tropes of Japanese animation do not resonate with me but there is no denying the genius of this Ghost in the Shell. As influential to modern sci-fi as Blade Runner before it Ghost in the Shell deserves to be recognized as a classic in it's own right.

I reviewed this movie for a Denver magazine in the mid-'90s and I am very happy to have a Blu-ray Disc copy. After Akira, this is the Japanese Anime classic.

If you've already watched this movie (and please do), not much has to be said, other than the HD upgrade is appreciated, but if you haven't and are an anime fan, do yourself a favor and enjoy an enduring classic whose hallmarks have touched so many corners of the medium.

Own this movie in multiple formats. I must say, this is the best version so far. Awesome steelbook and greater clarity with the 4k transfer. If you are an anime fan or science fiction collector, you have to own this.

Memories for a lifetime, great movie, very nostalgic classic that has aged like wine. Timeless classic from the golden age of anime. Steel book is amazing would buy before it’s all gone

Transparent slip covers with a stealbook are the absolute best that packaging can be. The 4k transfer itself however seems barely worthwhile. The one good thing is its the version without tons of awful and dated cgi.

Watching this again nearly twenty years after the first time. Amazing how the message hasn't really lost its applicability in today's world. Incredible animated visuals, reminiscent of Blade Runner in some ways. One star off for annoying English dubbed version. Subtitled original Japanese version is available on the disc though. Video quality is fine, but strange slight windowboxing around the image on all sides.

Personally own at least 3 different versions of this classic movie and have to say this is easily the most cleaned up and best looking version of the movie I own. Slipcover and steelbook are really nice too!

One of the greatest Japanese anime movies finally being remastered in 4K UHD and it looks fantastic. I highly recommend buying this disc.

A classic of animation and cyberpunk science-fiction that fans of either shouldn't sleep on, encased in one of the most gorgeous steelbooks I've yet to discover.

Normally the transfer to Blu ray from a move like this shows that it isn't always better, but that isn't necessarily the case. Even the digital for streaming isn't bad. Subtitles could be worked on, but that's expected for some anime unfortunately. Either way, recommended.

I had been waiting for the release of the movie for a long time now. There is only mild nudity in the beginning and I don't care for that sort of thing. That being said, I would gladly recommend this to any anime lover out there. The entire series and the movies are more than welcome in my collection.

I saw this movie one time many years ago and didn't think much of it. Watching it again, it is very relevant and scary today. Without giving too much away it is about our increased reliance on machines. Excellent film. I will mention there is nudity in it if that is a concern

This is a classic anime and has stood the test of time. If you haven't seen it it is absolutely worth a watch and has been revitalized in 4k.

Arrived in excellent condition and the steelbook artwork is amazing. This movies in 4k is so much better with better colors and audio. I would definitely recommend this to any collector of this excellent movie

Looks amazing, so happy they decided to remaster this classic! Ive read about the censoring, but im leaving that out of this review because the movie itself is completely intact.

I simply loved it and everyting about it and movie was fantastic and the Steelbook just made it a no brainer to purchase
