I have heard of this before. I thought it sounded interesting but I went out to the kitchen several times because it could not keep my interest. Die hard fans might like it. I didn't.

Picture quality is not an upgrade from the bluray, and the atmos track is pathetic and weak. Steel book case is beautiful though.

I just don't see the big deal about this anime or than some decent visuals. It's boring and really doesn't go anywhere.

I always heard good things about this, but I couldn't get into it for some reason.

Although the steelbook itself is very nice, this version of the film does not look up to Blu Ray quality and comes with no bonus features.

Didn't know until I bought this that it was edited. I did not open it so I will be returning it. Buyer beware!

Anniversary steel book arrived in expected condition. The store description and the Internet in general didn't specify that it doesn't have the Japanese dubbing. Just English dubbing with optional English subtitles. Tried all the audio options but didn't come across Japanese voice acting.

Great movie and the package came without any scuffs or scratches. Really recommend it. Gorgeous artwork for the steelbook.

They did a great job with this release--the box/slipcover look & feel amazing & the film has never looked better.

This anime like Akira revolutionized anime besides having just a straight out plot that could be followed by anyone. This anime was created for an intelligence audience. The philosophical qoutes and verses from the Bible that are incorporated into this movie only make it more revolutionary. So revolutionary that the creators of the Matrix (The Wachowski brothers) acknowledge that Ghost in the Shell gave them influence for the trilogy. Also there is a rumor that there will be a live action version and steven spielberg will direct(only a rumor i heard through the grape vine). I would deffiently recommend this to anybody. This is not the short of movie you can get up an walk away from because you have to absorb every lil bit in order to get the full effect. Each time you watch it again you notic something new.

This is a well known anime film that introduced a lot of fans to the work of manga artist Masamune Shirow. There have been other films and TV series made since, but this is the original film. I haven't really been too much of a fan of anime produced in recent years, so I'm glad to be able to owner an older classic on Blu-ray finally. Animation quality is nice, and it's also a lot more thoughtful in terms of its themes than the average action anime. I recommend checking out the original manga as well, which is in my opinion the definitive version of the story.

I own the original Ghost in the shell and when this came out on Blu-Ray I figured I would check it out. To my extreme disappointment the new 2.0 has done only 1 thing right and that is successfully butcher a great movie. The new CGI draws away your focus from the story, the new voice are OK but they redid all the sound effects and got them all wrong. A tank is crushing the leads robotic head and breaks some tough metal goggles and the sound of them breaking is comparable to if you snapped a toothpick in half. Along with the new CGI come slight changes to the story line. Instead of driving in a surveillance truck they fly a helicopter now. All in all I would not recommend this as a purchase for anyone. What I WOULD like to see is the original film put on Blu-ray without all the fancy new stuff they put in it. >:(

This was bought as a Christmas gift for a child of mine.
