this futuristic movie was well worth the price. Scarlotte johanson is just wonderful.

I was unfamiliar with the source material that this film is based upon, so going into the film I had no preconceived ideas about the movie. After watching the film, I have to admit that I was impressed. The story was engaging. The acting was good. The action sequences were good. The look of the film though is what stole the show. This is a film that greatly benefits from high definition. This movie is demo worthy. The picture and audio are excellent. The extras are very good. Overall I would highly recommend this film.

This was not what I thought it was... It is similar to TRON but not a well put together.

The anime version is still better thought it's still nice to have a live action version.

This is a live action Ghost in the shell movie based on the hit anime. The acting is top notch. This film is filled with great special effects that bring this fictional world to life. The films story takes place just before the story of the original anime film. Like all of the Ghost in the Shell movies this is a futuristic crime mystery story. If you liked any of the anime movies you might like this one too.

While I understand that Scarlett Johansson cannot be "Asian", and the story line does not follow the real anime series, the movie itself is still entertaining and action oriented. Most movies today that are based on comics (Marvel, DC) and books (Harry Potter) do not stay 100% true to the source. Hence, take the movie for what it is, and enjoy it for what it is.

It’s a decent interpretation of the animated movie. Some scenes are pretty close. I had never seen any versions before this, then watched the anime and then watched it again. Enjoyable. Don’t believe the hype about “whitewashing” the character... its people ignorantly looking for things to be offended at. Some people aren’t happy unless they are unhappy.

I like it for what it was. I also have no idea of the original or the anime , i wasn't that shocked at the American takeover of the primary Oriental plot...How else to get a film made. Forget the opinions and whatever, it is an action film that delivers action... a good saturday night film for boys and male teens. AND 66 year old men who like action films.

Having read the original manga and own the animated edition (import), perhaps I expected too much. The acting is very good, effects are as excellent but this is a much more complex story than can be conveyed in a live action film. That being said, if your familiar with the source material it's worth the purchase. Scarlet Johansson is always worth watching.

The Ghost in the Shell movie is a very underrated movie. If you loved the first two anime series, then you will see a lot of references from not only the characters, but also some of the storylines. They touch on a few story episodes from both tv series and it blends well together. Scarlett Johansson does a great job playing Major and I hope one day they make another one of these movies playing her.

More of a nod to the original than a 1 to 1 remake. Being a fan of the original anime release I found this to be very entertaining even if it does not follow scene for scene word for word. This is more so a re imagining that lends more to the lore/background than the original. This is not a one view and done for me, I will be watching again.

I really loved this movie. I had never seen the original anime movie, so I didn't know what to expect. I actually purchased both the 3D and the 4K version. This is a decent sci-fi story that was is easy to follow, coupled with OUTSTANDING 3D visuals for the 3D version! If you want a movie with plenty of 3D eye candy, this is it. I felt completely immersed in the futuristic world, and felt my jaw dropping more than once. The visuals in the 3D version are far superior to the 4K HDR version, which sometimes comes across as dim (hazy, almost) and flat. If you have the capability, skip the 4K and go for the 3D - you won't be disappointed!

Controversy about the casting decisions aside, this version of Ghost in the Shell is a visually stunning action film. That being said, with its many nods to the Ghost in the Shell TV anime, film, and manga, this movie would make more of an impact with a fan of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, while newcomers might be left with many questions.

I thought this movie was a lot better than I was led to believe by some people I normally trust about these things. A reasonable recreation of a manga film with a living cast. Not an easy thing to do. I've seen both, and this holds up well.

I like the movie. Good story line and a lot of action. It's a comic book/anime series translated for the "big screen". Don't have to love super hero movies to enjoy the film, but I'm sure it helps. All in all, I think it's very entertaining. My only "gripe" with the film is that although Scarlet Johansson is a good actress, Japanese is she not. I would have personally cast an Asian woman as the lead. I feel it would be a better fit for the film's storyline...just my opinion.

This review is for both the movie and the blu-ray and Ultra HD As a fan of the original anime/manga, I see what they were trying to do, but I think they missed the greater potential from not sticking closer to the source material. It really bugged me how they called the main character "Major" like it was her name; it's supposed to be a rank. But it's still a visually stunning and entertaining film. As for the blu-ray and Ultra HD, boy are they gorgeous! I watched both the blu ray and the Ultra HD on my OLED tv, and I could really see the difference; the HDR colors were amazing. But as for the discs themselves, they included no special features, no "Making of" or references to the original source material, which was disappointing. So buy it if you are a cyberpunk fan, or a fan of any of the stars, or want a good HDR showoff disc. Otherwise if you don't see the appeal from looking at the package you can skip it.

I knew nothing of the Japanese series this was based on. I read that fans were disappointed by Scar Jo playing the lead instead of someone Asian. Personally, Scar Jo was the only reason I went & saw it at the theater and the reason I purchased the movie as well. That, and the story was well done and the special effects were fantastic.

I really like Scarlett Johannson in her movies and I wanted to see how good she is in this Sci-Fi. She didn't disappoint me at all. Excellent acting; plot and effects in the "way-out there" sci-fi. If there is any disappointment in watching the film; it would be in certain places in the film where the CGI is done 2nd rate and isn't really "flawless" like in the high class movies. I guess they were limited with their money on this one; but, it's still a good watch!
