I didn't care about the "controversy" and I still don't. For what it was the movie was quite enjoyable. The story is different from the original anime and that's not a bad thing. It felt like a bit more of a straight forward story then what the anime was. If you can, let go of the bad hype and give it a go. It's well worth your time.

I have not watched all this movie yet but it looks fantastic in 4k, the only draw back is there are no extras at least on the 4k disk. I have to see if there are any on the blu ray disk. In any case it looks like a great sci fi action movie. So far I love what I've seen of the movie. Interesting premise and so far the story looks good, great action and wow it looks fantastic in 4k HDR ! Never watched or read the anime version though but so far I like it a lot.

Terrible movie a complete waste of time turned off half way through it.,

Alright, I did read the reviews and all the negative comments. It does not follow the anime, but I found it quite watchable. Plenty of action and the build up is good. If you are hardcore Ghost In The Shell you will probably be disappointed, but if you want to watch a good action film that slightly follows the anime, get it. Enjoy.

Don't let the SJWs or PC police dissuade you from seeing this film. I has an interesting twist and great special effects. Typical of most movies inspired by comics and novels, this varies from it's source material but still captures some of the flavor of the philosophical, technological, and moral essence of the original anime IMHO.

Not compelling. Weak characterization, convoluted story. Nice to look at.

As a fan of the original anime, and the series, Stand Alone Complex, I really enjoyed this adaptation of Ghost in The Shell. It does set out to be its own thing, and not a true carbon copy of the cartoon. There are similar events, and story aspects, but the film makers seemed to focus on some other aspects of the characters, and their development. Take it for what it is, and you'll enjoy it. Plus, this collectible steelbook package is just so beautiful to have.

Good movie to watch lots of action and suspense throughout the movie

Should have had an Asian female lead to make it more realistic

I went into this film not knowing too much about the anime version. I thought Scarlet did a wonderful job in the lead role despite the controversy over her casting. This movie reminded me of the Matrix in many ways as I know the creators of the Matrix were huge anime fans and even may have watch the anime version which was out before Matrix. Top notch effects and action blend seemlessly with the plot, too. Overall a good pick up for the $9 I paid for it.

Ghost in the Shell is a intricate and fun movie. It brought back many memories of films such as Blade Runner and the like. I haven't seen the anime this movie is based on but this movie has me interested in the source material. I picked this up on UHD Blu-ray in order to see what my new TV could do and it didn't disappoint.

If like your eye candy this one's for you story line is confusing tho

Nice 4k transfer - especially so for fans of filling up the 16X9 aspect ratios of current UHD sets. It would be nice of all movies had the option of displaying 1.85:1 ratio in order to maximize screen geometry given that not everyone has a 100-inch movie screen.

The movie was decent. As a huge Ghost in the Shell fan, I was disappointed. However, if I look at it from a non-fan or as just another action/sci-fi movie, it was fairly good. My son like it and he knows nothing of the GitS universe. I chose the "steelbook" version as I like it's cover art better than the standard cases.

I only give 5 stars to movies I know I will watch 10 times, for sure, without tiring of them. Of course, with Scarlet you can't go wrong. Add to that fantastic visual affects, and solid all around acting and it's a winner. Just as importantly, the movie challenges what we define as being human.

I think it was a different kind of a movie kind of strange plot.

I know I am in the minority here, but I LOVE this film! Scar Jo is just the icing on the cake here. This movie looks gorgeous in 4K and the Atmos surround track is very satisfying. However, the 3D just makes this one out of this world! If you ever seen this one, then you know what I am talking about with how amazing the futuristic cityscapes look in 3D. At the $9.99 price I grabbed this at this one is out of this world, pun intended!

Scarlet Johansen is amazing in the role of a young woman how's brain is placed into a cybernetic body to fight terrorists. She carries this movie. The film has flawless special effects and beautiful cuts and transitions. The only criticism is the lack of human on human connection , It could've been done better.

Emotionally grips the audience at times, which helps see these "beings" as more human rather than crafted killing machines. CGI is very well done. Story is good, but I feel like it could have been fleshed out a bit better. Trying to condense an anime into a single movie is fairly difficult though.
