Beautiful visually. 4k is amazing. If you're able to experience the move in 4k I highly recommend it. If you're a sci-fi fan you will likely enjoy the movie overall. If you love the original anime version then I think you'll enjoy the homages that were paid throughout the movie. While they took some liberties, it does mostly try to follow the original story. Also if you're a collector, this versions has a very cool steelbook packaging!

Based on the Japanese anime with same title. A great live action remake of the anime. Some people say its white washed but most anime was very westernized in how they portrayed their characters. If you liked the anime. You'll appreciate the movie. Some liberties were made to drive the story and you'll miss some key touches like the "REVERSE" in the car breaklights. But it's worth a rental and possibly a buy for your collection at home.

I heard all the criticisms of the movie and the use of Scarlett J. in an iconic Asian anime movie... I bought it in 4K and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was better than I expected but had a nagging suspicion it would look better in 3D. Well, it was worth the double dip. Whoever did the 2D to 3D conversion did an excellent job and it looks great and adds to the experience. If I had to do it again, I'd just get the 3D version.

I loved how Scarlett Johansson played Lucy in Lucy. She portrays a good, strong female character in Lucy and in Ghost In The Shell. I know people were upset because she played the role of Major in this movie but she can play strong female lead roles. I hope to see her in more lead female roles in the future.

Movie was good but the 4K enhanced visuals were great

We've read all the reviews putting this movie down because of all the "whitewash" in casting Scarlett Johansen in the lead role. We had also watched the original anime version of this film and we really enjoyed it. Well, this new version had the same action-packed chase scenes and disturbing story as the original anime version, but with a lot of great special visual effects. Try it, we think you will really enjoy watching it too.

While a little slow getting started (not action, that was immediate). The story did pick up, and was very good. The acting was well done (but then again, when is Scarlet Johansson not good). The special effects were second to none. Bought it as a "blind buy" (hadn't seen it yet), and I wasn't disappointed.

I enjoyed this movie. I know fans of the original did not like this. But as someone who hadn't seen those or read the comics this was pretty good! Bottom line if your a purest provably not for you but if your looking for something that's different and have no knowledge of the original an enjoyable movie!!

The actual disc is great quality - beautiful 4K UHD image and sound quality. The movie isn't bad but it doesn't break any new ground - it completes the circle of The Matrix copying from the original Ghost In The Shell anime by now copying some of the new things The Matrix brought to the table at the time.

this is a complicated movie to fallow but it is worth seeing.

I love it. The movie was based on a Japanese anime. Some hard core fans did not like this movie because of the deviation from the Japanese version and the decision to cast Scarlett Johansson as its cyborg heroine, originally named Motoko Kusanagi. I am Asian. For me, it is a good action movie. Scarlett Johansson played very well in the main role. The CG scenes are great.

I'm a total geek culture guy, but comic books are more my thing not anime. I'm a huge fan of Scarlett though. So I watched this and loved it. So I bought and watched the original anime. That was incredible! This was a faithful representation. The anime was better which is why I only gave this 4 stars.

Frankly seeing Scarlett Johansson in a body suit is enough for me to watch anything, but when she is also the action hero it is icing on the cake! Her demeanor in this film is a repeat of her Lucy character, in my opinion, and while I would like to see more emotional spark I like her fine as she is.

Now this movie is based off one of the most popular Anime/Japanese Manga from the early 90's and now they've made a movie about it with Scarlett Johansson in the Lead Role, but they did make a movie before in the animated film which was more terrific than this movie version, but because of the 3D it's very awesome great super fantastic very cool to watch it so I suggest that the only way You watch it is in 3D and/or not 2D!

Don't trust bad reviews! It was fantastic! Scarlett Johansson was sensational wonderful! It looked Japanese anime. Famous Japanese actors Takeshi Kitano and Kaori Momoi did nice performances. Great special effects, unique visions, spectacular and exciting climax. Awesome Sci-fi action fantasy! 3 1/2!

It's been a while since I've seen the anime, but from what I remember it stayed close to the source. I get movies that peek my interest, not to nit pick and focus on what they did wrong. As a movie(a form of entertainment) it did its job. Watched it 3 times within the first week I bought it. :)

I never followed the original story. But heard a lot of people were upset where they went with this film. That being said, the visuals in this movie are simply stunning. And the artwork is fantastic on this steelbook. 5 stars for the visuals & artwork...3 stars for the movie itself...so 4 stars.

This movie is very pretty to look at. A sort of Bladerunner like look and feel to it. I've never seen the animated features, but I suppose this is a fairly enjoyable outing. The 4K blu-ray itself is a little dark for my taste but there is still a lot of fine detail to see. Great sound though.

The amazing storyline of it's predecessor holds this movie to a level of art that is unparalleled to most other movies in this genre. The only other Japanese art film I can compare it to is Akira. The CG animation really gets you thinking, "Is this what our future cities will look like?" Probably so. The movie moves with an unrelenting pace which slaps you every five minutes just to make sure your still paying attention.
