The digitally photographed and enhanced Ghost in the Shell impresses on Blu-ray. The picture reveals plenty of intimate, high quality details, particularly in facial close-ups but also futuristic attire and many of the environments around the film. Image clarity is outstanding and there's not a smudgy edge to be seen. The film is inherently dark. Most scenes lack more than a sprinkling of color. Everything pops with sufficient depth and punch as it's meant to within the film's stylistic confines. Black levels are tight and deep and flesh tones appear accurate to the cast and characters.

Don't know much about this story for the creation of this movie. But the movie was entertaining and a little different. I guess it needed to stay close with its Anime but in live action. I would recommend it though as it wasn't hard to follow the story.

Not as bad as many reviews would indicate. Blu-ray has good extra features and the quality is good. Fans of Scarlett Johanssen 'girl power' films, such as Lucy will not be disappointed. More unbiased audience may be disappointed. Mediocre story but well executed.

This is a live action retelling of an anime classic. Now some of the FX and graphic are very good but the story line is a little lacking. A must watch for any anime fan both old and new but you might want to rent it first to see if you like it enough to keep it.

The disk looks great and the ATMOS sound track is incredible. The film deviates from the original story in a way that detracts from its theme and depth. It is not targeted at an intelligent thoughtful viewer, the original was, although despite that it is a fun watch.

I didn't see the anime, but this is so much better of a movie than i was expecting. I wouldn't have said "best movie of the year", however the storyline, action and acting are all great in my opinion.

This movie was the first that I had delved into the ghost in the shell series. The movie is filled with action and mystery throughout. Solving the mystery of who she is and why she was created. As well as the evil behind her creation. I highly recommend this movie.

Growing up with the "Ghost in the Shell" story line, this was a nice lead in to the anime story line. Nice intro to characters and I hope it leads to a franchise movie deal. With the origin story line out of the way, maybe we can get on with new and better scripts.

Outstanding sci-fi sleeper of 2017. Scarlett Johansson is perfectly cast in the lead role. I would compare this movie to Blade Runner. Action packed from start to finish. Fantastic special effects. Most of the live action is very similar to the animated movies.

Paid less than the cost to purchase a matinee seat at the local theatre. Never seen or heard about this movie and now I know why. Not very good. Always enjoy Scarlett Johansson in her other roles. A bit disappointed she agreed to this role. The movie just seemed like a repetitive sci-fi premise. It did have some action and kept me somewhat interested but maybe for the wrong reasons. Her role seemed powerful enough to end this movie after the first fifteen minutes but the writers (I guess) just wanted to invent twist and turns unrealistic in anyway. Just could have been way better.

The UK version of this steelbook has a debossed title, but only has spot-gloss on the back cover, which I think is a lesser product. Some fans of the original anime movie have complained about the content of this film being a watered-down version of the themes explored in it, but I felt like it was a great, stand-alone live action interpretation, based on the same story.

I overall loved the movie, but the colors did seem a bit washed out. Wish they provided a Dolby Vision HDR transfer with this disc. I loved the Dolby Atmos soundtrack though, excellent bass response, with great object based accuracy, and clear vocals to match.

Not a bad movie. I think many reviews were a little hard on this one. If you like the original, you'll probably like this. Its shot for shot for some scenes, but manages to be different enough. If you haven't seen the original, its still a decent sci-fi movie.

EXCELLENT ADAPTATION WITH MORE TO COME IN PART 2, NICE FUTURISTIC MOVIE QUITE BELIEVABLE, HOW FAR WE CAN GO WITH IMPLANTS AND CYBERNETICS, MOVIE SHOWS EXTREMES EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE THEM OR THEY ARE A TOTAL ROBOT.

Ghost in the shell is not a movie for everyone. If you are a fan of Japanese manga and anime then this movie will satisfy. All the whitewashing aside I thought it was a good movie and some sense were pulled out of the original anime. Fun time with this movie

I liked Robocop and there are a lot of similarities, so naturally I liked this movie. SJ played her part extremely well as did the supporting cast. There was some great action and special effects, and the story line was well thought out and easy to follow.

The film didn't do well when it was released a few months ago probably due to the racial controversy, but it will find an audience over time. The style and score in Ghost in the Shell is impressive and accentuate the point of the story. It's a cold dish served with vengeance and it reminded me of Johnny Mnemonic/Blade Runner and the 90s cyber thrillers. Cool movie.

The images in this movie are arresting, make you want to hit the pause button and have a long look. Scarlett Johansson has never been better. In a role that could be just about the gadgetry of an artificial body, she's emotionally intensely human. The movie in its lighting and dark atmosphere reminds me of Blade Runner. You'll never see sunshine in either movie.

Excellent Cyberpunk movie! It respects to its anime origins and is different enough to appeal to a much larger audience. The behind the scenes bonus features are a well done. The only thing that is lacking is that the plot becomes a bit predictable at times.

Seeing this movie for the first time, and in 4k, it looks and sounds great. It has a mixed American and Japanese sensibility, but IMO it works fine, sort of an homage to the look and feel of "Blade Runner". I like what Scarlett Johansson brings to the role of Major. A great summertime fun movie, with more to think upon regarding human/machine symbiosis if desired.
