Though some may be angry that the did use an Asian as the female lead and I understand all the implications that go along with that, the filmmakers in the end payed great homage to the original anime. The special effects are top notch and the extra features rock. Again, if the idea non-Asian lead bothers you then don’t buy it, otherwise, it’s a great movie to own

This is a good movie, just original from Japan Animation. It was nice to see the reality graphic in this movie than the animation. It was a good action. I prefer you rent it and watch it before you buy this movie. I like it, and I collect this steelbook.

I don't buy steelbooks often but liked this artwork enough to go for it. Really nice finish on the case worth a few extra dollars for it. The movie is good not perfect or an exact retelling of the original anime. Some scenes are cheesy but overall they paid homage to the original enough you can tell they really liked the source material and tried to remain true.

Scarlett Johansson is a good choice to play the woman discovering her identity. Excellent special effects and eye candy settings depict a gritty but very colorful future world. Worth watching.

I have the 3D version, which is fantastic, but someone borrowed my 2D blu-ray and never returned it, so the price is right for my back-up, and I get an extra digital and DVD version to share. How great is that!!

I had watched the movie and try to own the movie but the price is not right for me yet. Finally I own it not regular bluray version but steelbook case version. Thanks to Best Buy mystery coupon and I paid reasonable price ($5) to own steelbook for Ghost In The Shell movie. The movie also include iTunes and Vudu digital HD code as well.

This is a decent film, despite the bad reviews, white washing and all the other allegations. It's a very faithful adaptation. I think of it as more an homage to the original, rather than something that one might replace the original with.

i believe most of our life is being trapped in a shell and we can argue to the last breath that we must leave our shell some day. this movie is hitting on some real issues that people have everyday. i really enjoy the message in the movie. be who you are inside and not what people want you to be. don't let your outside appearance determine who you are inside.

I never watched any of the animes, so I can be more critical on the movie than comparing it to the many animes that were released before this movie. I was impressed with it. Good story line, acting and special effects. It is worth watching this movie.

This movie is great. I love especially that it was changed to have a sense of mystery for people who watched the anime. The 3D adds to the depth of this movie especially in very specific scenes. IMAX 3D laser projection however was the way this was supposed to be watched and it was amazing in that format. Unfortunately that's not possible for a home viewing.

Initially, I had low expectations for this live-action remake of the groundbreaking original anime. However, after a second viewing, I grew to not only appreciate this film, but to greatly enjoy it on its own merits. Worth multiple viewings!

The movie would get 5 stars. The fact that it had a digital copy was important to me. But why in the world, and all other realms, are these movie companies choosing Ultraviolet to distribute their digital copies??!! I *finally* was able to watch my library on my newer Samsung TV using the Vudu app, but I had to use the Vudu app. The ONLY upshot was it streams in 4k. The app on my ipad (Flixster, yes it is updated to the latest version) that I used to watch ultraviolet movies won't play any of my new ultraviolet movies. STOP USING ULTRAVIOLET. It "islands" my digital copies and now I have to use Amazon, iTunes, Vudu on one device, a web site on another device - what a annoyance.

Never saw the anime which may be why I enjoyed this so much. Other reviewers seem to be down on this one versus the original anime. This was my intro to Major and the story behind her. Really solid story and (most of) the special effects. Scar Jo is perfect. Was not expecting a ton out of this for $5 on Black Friday but I loved it.

There were times in the movie that I found it hard to understand what she was feeling when she first found her family but as the movie went on tords the end of the movie it all began to make sense.that is why it only gets four stars instead of five.

This movie was very entertaining, and since I had no prior knowledge of the original material, I was not hampered by comparing it to the original. A unique look into the future (science fiction that is) and quite a bit of action to keep it moving.

Looks great in 4K UHD. Scarlett Johansson carries the movie as some of the other acting is a little weak. If you want a treat as to how 4K movies can make a difference on your brand new 4K HDR TV, then this is a good movie to have in your library.

If you are a fan of the anime or of Scarlett Johansson, getting the steel book version of this movie is a must. As a fan of both and of steel book cases I am glad that picked this up. I was sad that I missed the red version of the steel book and immediately bought this version. The purple case is nice with a large image of the Major on it.

The storyline was decent. If you're a hardcore Ghost in the Shell Anime fan, you probably would feel otherwise. But take it as a grain of salt. On the other hand, the video quality was fantastic in 4K resolution. Very happy with this purchase

Here's what I'll say about the movie, Scarlett Johansson does what she can with the material given. is it a perfect movie? No. Does it need a diversity of people? Yes. However, Scarlett Johansson does her best with the film, and I've become a fan of hers. I think she's fantastic and has shown that she can do a lot of genres. This movie is worth a watch.

1st off, in 4k, the visuals were stunning. There was alot of bad publicity for this movie because of Scarlet Johanson being cast but It was actually good. If you are a fan of Masamune Shirow or a Sci fi fan, you will enjoy it. Especially in 4k!
