Great packaging, great film quality, looks great on a 65'. Sound seemed a bitmuted though.

This is one of my all time favorite movies and got me into anime in the nineties. I had to add the original theatrical release of the movie to my Bluray collection.

I bought this because I wanted to know what the live action movie was going to be about. This anime was ahead of its time. Now, it's something you can pass. The conversations and ideas are still very thought provoking but that's all you really get out of it. I'm sure the movie will be nothing like its anime but at least I know what they started with and why they would make changes. If you're fan of anime, this can hold its own right next to Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, and Akira. If you're not, you won't get the idea nor keep up with the great artwork that goes into making these older animes. I'm not recommending this to everyone, only the people that value good anime stories that make you think.

Excellent transfer to 4k and an option to use normal Blu-ray. Cult classic anime which no one should skip on.

Beautiful Steelbook. 4K presentation is good but not a superior upgrade from the 1080P version. The Atmos soundtrack indeed has its moments. I would still recommend getting this.

The movie is a classic and recommended for any anime fan. Unfortunately, the release has some very minor video and audio issues that are already mentioned by several other reviewers. At this price, the steelbook itself is worth getting if you are a collector.

This is one of the greatest animated films of all time. It stands up there with Akira, Princess Mononoke, Perfect Blue, The Incredibles, Grave of the Fireflies, and Wall-E.

This is a high quality 4K restoration of a great anime film.

I bought this at $6.99 with a $5 reward zone certificate and even that was too much to pay for this horrible release. One of the most influential anime films of all-time, and its saddled with one of the most worthless blu ray releases ever conceived. They've brightened up the film, which makes the dark, gritty tone subdued and less impactful. Their subtitled translations (which were spot-on on the DVD release), are laughably inaccurate and incoherent in places. And no special features on an anniversary release. If you want THE release to buy for this film, track down the DVD, barcode 013138200495. It is far superior in every way, including accurate subtitles and great special features.

Ghost in the Shell is trippy, action-packed, and a great escape. I can see why they're making a live-action film, but maybe check out where it all began first?
