I bought this movie for my husband for Christmas. It's very long but it does have some good fight scenes.

It’s OK you’re better off keeping your standard blu ray nothing special

Not so much a fan of this movie. I like Scott's other movies.

Though the movie itself is good I found that the upgrade to 4K was not worth it.

It's an entertaining movie but history buffs will be disappointed by the depiction.

I should of watched this 4k of Gladiator as soon as I received it. It will not play at all saying it doesn't meet the requirements. Now I can't return a defective product.

Don’t waste your money. Blu ray looks just as good... really disappointed with this purchase.

I have to say the only disappointing thing about this BD release is the negative response it has received. I am into the details. For example, I care enough to pick and choose which multi-platformed games I buy for PS3 or XBOX based on critical analysis by respected tech-sites. I will ALWAYS buy the superior product; and if picture quality is sub-par I will return it to the store for a refund ASAP because this stuff gets expensive! This is one of my favorite movies of all time so when I saw reviewers claiming a computer was left on auto-pilot to remaster the film in BD I was against buying it. I read forum after forum of people thrashing the quality of the film. The negative response was so profound I could not bring myself to just go out and buy it; so I rented it first to SEE FOR MYSELF. I loaded the DVD (which I owned already) on a BD player for upscaling and loaded up the BD version that I rented. I compared the two by pausing them at the same spots and switching channels with my receiver. I paid attention to the areas people were criticizing (missing arrows, smooth foreheads, too much DNR, etc) and could not see it! The sound is actually done well, and the picture looks BETTER than ever (especially when compared with the DVD). I cannot understand why any person, in replacing all of their DVD's with blu-rays, would pass this up! I actually went into Best Buy that day after viewing about 30 minutes worth of the BD I rented and bought it. I watched the whole thing start to finish and the movie is more breath-taking than ever. I thought the quality was excellent. I am not dismissing other reviews and don't doubt that the production company may have used a automatic program to make this BD; but I couldn't see it. I encourage you to see for yourself, the movie is worth it!

Amazing 4k quality. nothing beats a hard copy! I cannot say anything bad about the service.

To anyone who's still wondering whether or not they should buy Gladiator on BluRay? Well the answer is, YES! But beware. There were two released versions on BluRay. The original one is the one you want to stay away from. The one you want is this one, which is the sapphire version. The Sapphire Series version is the Remastered version of the Original Bluray version that first came out. Infact, if you happen to buy the original copy, Paramaount is willing to let you trade yours in for the newer one.

The Ridley Scott masterpiece, Gladiator, is finally represented in all of it's epic glory via HD format. Now there have been a number of reviewers splitting hairs over certain frames not being as polished as they would have expected from a Blu-ray release. I am not a strict videofile, but I have watched close to a hundred movies in HD. While I did recognize a few shots that were slightly less than polished, there wasn't any reason for me to give this release anything less than four stars for video quality alone. The distortions in video quality are nominal and have been overstated by a few strict videofiles. Having owned the theatrical release on DVD, I found the Blu-ray release to be a worthy upgrade due to the inclusion of the extended cut and the promise of a much better picture. It delivered on both! This is five star high definition release and a must own for fans of Gladiator and action films.

This is definitely a must-have movie. The first disc comes with the extended version which is better than the director's cut and always a big plus and on the second disc are the extras. I read some negative reviews of people complaining about issues on audio or video so I put it on my PS3 to find something bad on it, but I was mesmerized until i remembered I was writing this review, I have not finished the movie yet but mi sure there is nothing less than perfect on this movie, the ones writing bad stuff about this Bluray might not know how to set up their TVs or are still using RCA cables. Having a degree in ancient history, specializing in Roman history, I had to see this movie in the theater. The attention to details in the battle tactics, clothing and decoration are simply superb, great work Ridley Scott. I then bought it on DVD the day it was released in 2000 and of course I had to buy the Blu-Ray copy the day it came out. When I first played the Gladiator Blu-Ray disc I was not very happy with the image quality, along with many other reviews that I have read. I then started to read my TV's user manual about image quality and noticed the DNR Control (Digital Noise Reduction Control). I stated Gladiator and adjusted the TV's DNR Control, the more DNR I added the worse the image quality got. I then turned off the DNR altogether and the image quality became perfect and sharp. I hope this helps others enjoy Gladiator on Blu-Ray.

Such a great movie and transfer. Its by no means a demo disc but you get a really good improvement over the blu rays.

Joquen Phoenix was superb as the dememted Ceasar who took over for his father Richard Harris. Richard Harris was a perfect choice. Russell Crowe was fantastic and is my hero. . Oliver Reed was exeptional. The music was nothing but perfect. All of the actors selected for this film was great. I have seen this move probably 50 times since 2003. Getting ready to watch it again on new HD TV we bought, Now it will feel like I am in a theater with surround sound.
