a great movie this movie is one of those movies that goes down in history this movie was so good that i had to have both versions or the film thats how great this movie is so need i say more long live maximus!!

This movie has non stop action; one of the best sword fighting movies that you can ever see. It is a little long but when that time is filled with fighting and killing than the lenght is not a bother.

Overall the quality of the picture is good, but the Digital Noise Reduction is VERY obvious on scenes with lots of CG [any cityscape and most landscapes. It really emphasizes the CG]. However, any shots with close-ups or lots or actors look great. You can see everything from the dirt on their face to the stitching on their clothes. If you have the DVD rent the Blu-Ray before buying it. If not, you wont regret it.

I Loved this Movie. It keeped me wanting to know moreand I love how it would show the past to help bring you to present. I would recomend this movie to any one who loves action movies about the past

Russel Crowe is amazing in his portrayal of a leader and slave in the historic Roman Empire. The production, direction, soundtrack, acting, and everything else are top notch.

This movie was made for blu ray. The HD quality enhances everything about this great film. The acting is amazing, the scenery is outstanding, and the plot is perfect.

Besides it being a great movie, there is a $10 rebate on the Blu Ray if you own the regular DVD version. What's better than getting a movied you love in Blu Ray for $12?

This will be a classic for years to come. The sapphire edition has some new bonus features and look to be better picture other wise the same.

one of the best films, enjoy, rome still here with us in our daily life, can be a better transfer from the film to blue-ray but is ok, the film pay for him self.

I had the original Sapphire Blu-ray release and the video quality was sub-par (Paramount did offer a replacement). With this new 4K release, things have drastically improved. The audio and video are exemplary, worthy of this Best Picture motion picture!

This movie is easily one of the best movies of all time in my opinion. over 15 years later and still holds up.

The upgarde to Blu-ray is fine. Don't listen to the other tech nerds out there who complain about arrows disappearing.

Great movie and while its debut on blu-ray didn't go as well as hoped, it still looks and sounds better than DVD. In fact, I thought it looked good even though I knew they had used DNR on it. The bottom-line is that the DNR is noticeable but not nearly as bad as some are making it out to be.

Just the action sequences will keep you interested, but the entire story comes together quite nicely.
