Budget friendly but too entry level for my taste.

I have owned and tested several Glorious Keyboards. The other models I have are the higher end models including the top line GMMK 3 PRO full size. The Glorious GMMK 3 Pro was the best keyboard I ever tested. The GMBK75 is not that keyboard, nor should it be considering it is nearly 1/6th the price of the Pro . The GMBK75 is a budget friendly entry level keyboard that will satisfy beginners, but will fall short if the user is used to using a better ( and bigger) keyboard. The keys – Passable, but not nearly as good as a true mechanical keyboard. The keys are responsive but are missing the satisfying click of a better keyboard. They also feel cheap to me. Of course, that is totally subjective, but it definitely has an inexpensive feel. The typing performance for me was awkward, the keys seemed to be smaller than most of my other keyboards. I measured the keys on my basic Logitech keyboard and the keyboard on my LG laptop. The Logitech keys are 5/8 “wide and LG keys are 9/16 “ wide . The GMBK75 are ½ “wide. Even though these are small differences, it makes a big difference in the typing experience. For beginners, it should be fine. The keyboard has a two-level height adjustment that is a clever design that works well. Construction – The first thing I noticed is how light the keyboard is. Never a good sign and makes me wonder about long-term durability. There is a large amount of flex if you twist it. It does stay in place with the rubber feet. One great feature is the IP67 Waterproof & Dust-Resistance. There are not many of the competition that does that in this price range. Software – I have always felt their software was very minimalistic and spotty performance. You do not need the software to do a lot of things but it needs to be rock solid. At first, I made mistake and assumed that the GMBK75 would work with the Core 2.0 software I already have loaded. It did not. You will need to download the 2.1 version. After I installed the new software, I could not get it to work until I restarted my computer. I have no idea whether that is my computer or if it is software. Not a major issue but it is worth mentioning. Once the software was up and running, you can adjust some of the performance and lighting. I do not care about the lighting and turned it off. However, I found it randomly running back on even though the software indicated the lighting was shut off. Customization – This is Glorious’s claim to fame. You can change the keys, frame, and add graphics. What a waste of time and money on an entry level keyboard. Do not buy the GMBK75 for customization. Warranty - The warranty of 2 years is comparable to the competition in this price range. I am trying to keep in mind that this is a budget keyboard, but I just cannot recommend the GMBK75 for most people. The keys are too small and feel cramped, the construction feels cheap and customization is a gimmick at this price point. It is not without it merits for basic use and I think the price point works for an adolescent starting out that will eventually outgrow it. I think there are just better choices in this price point from the competition.

My first thought was why would a keyboard come with a USB C port if it is only wired? The answer is, I can change the color of the cord, I can use USB A or C depending on the computer I’m connecting to. This is actually quite useful. I can also leave the cord plugged in to my tower PC and routed right how I like it when I steal the keyboard to use on my tablet PC. Which this keyboard works really nicely with, It is a small size for transporting but the keys feel awesome for gaming. Typing feels nice as well but the keys are just a tiny bit taller than my perfect preference for speed typing… this really doesn’t matter for gaming and I got used to the new height quickly and I much prefer it to the super low profile and soft keyboards out there. Overall, the keyboard feels solid and the travel is excellent between the keys. In the box it comes with a tool for taking off the key caps and you can replace them with different patterns you can buy online as well which is really cool. The tool makes it really simple to swap out the keys however I do not understand the MSRP of the keycaps, they are almost the same price as the keyboard itself and it does take time to replace each of the keycaps if you want to do a complete changeover, depending on how much your time matters to you, it almost makes more sense to just buy another pattern keyboard and swap them out as you feel like a new change, unless you can get the keycaps on sale. I understand the desire to customize as being able to create your own unique patterns is awesome, but in order to create something really unique you would need to order multiple kits. Lastly, I love the IP57 rating, every keyboard I have destroyed was because of coffee, soda or water. The fact that this one should be able to handle a spill without an issue is awesome.

I have been using it for a few days. Over the years, I’ve used both membrane and mechanical keyboards (red, blue, brown). The Microsoft Sidewinder X4 was the first gaming keyboard I used for many years; it was a membrane keyboard, and I really enjoyed it. I’ve used all the popular brands but stuck with the G710+ Blue for the longest time. More recently, I’ve been using an enthusiast-grade keyboard with creamy mechanical switches, somewhat similar to Browns, and have been loving it. Coming from that, after spending 60 minutes to an hour with this, it feels okay for a membrane keyboard. It doesn’t have the same satisfying hit you get with something like the MX Keys(also membrane but chicklet). Instead, it has more of a bouncy feel; not a negative, just different. I personally get more typing satisfaction with MX Keys, but this isn’t too bad. That said, there’s no mistaking this for a mechanical keyboard; it feels and works like a membrane board. It loses the Home and Insert keys, though you can remap them using the software with Fn or Fn2. I couldn’t test this properly because, for some reason, their app doesn’t scale on my 4K display, leaving tiny text over the keys that I could barely read. On the positive side, it has side lights and bright, vibrant LEDs with 10 zones, all controllable via the software. I tested it in a completely dark room and had no trouble typing. The keyboard also has a volume knob that doubles as a mute switch, which works as intended. The compact 75% layout means the arrow keys are closer to the main cluster, which takes some getting used to. Considering you are buying it for its portable size, you already know what you are getting into. One thing to point is that there is no right ctrl key, instead it gives a little space between the arrow and main cluster. The big draw here is customization; you can replace the keycaps with any Cherry MX-compatible ones, even though it’s not a mechanical board. I can see this being useful for people who game at night and don’t want the noise of a mechanical keyboard disturbing others but still want customization options. It’s not super quiet, though; it does make some noise. It’s portable, has a detachable cable, and is easy to carry. Being wired, it has no battery, which keeps it lightweight. With 26-key rollover, it could serve as a secondary portable gaming keyboard. That said, the customizable keycaps; one of its big selling points; are ABS, not PBT. At $60 for a membrane with main feature as customizable cap; it is a strange omission. There are other membrane keyboards at Best Buy in the same or lower price range. Some even offer full-size or TKL layouts which are more usual, though they don’t give you a removable cable or replaceable caps. Still, keep in mind the hardware customization here is limited to caps only; if a switch fails, there’s no way to replace it. I did test replacing the key and my cheery mx keys from another keyboard fitted fine on this. Overall, I think Glorious has done a decent job with this keyboard. My main dislikes are the ABS caps, the arrow key placement (will take getting used to), and the current software scaling issue. But those are fixable or tolerable depending on your needs. For the full retail I have my reservations as you can spend a little more and get a mechanical but maybe you can find it on a deal, and if you are looking for a customizable membrane keyboard, this can be a good option.

    Great 3/4 sized gaming keyboard

The size of the keyboard, along with the removal of a lot of spaces in between groups of keys, and material around the keyboard, really shrink down the size. Sitting this next to a full size keyboard with extra rows of function keys, built in hand rest etc, the difference is staggering. This alone cleared up so much space on my gaming surface, I had to rearrange the placement of my mats and mouse pad/ mouse to compensate for the tiny keyboard. I now have my mouse more besides the keyboard to the right, then in front and to the right of the giant keyboard it replaced. The program to customize the function of the keyboard works very well, I used it with Windows 11. I love the multi-function spin dial, I mostly use it for volume as most probably do, but its a nice feature. The key response time is very good and the key noise is very much in line with my expectation of a gaming keyboard. The lighting is very customizable, gone are the days of solid colors or keyboard frame backlight only. I did not have any other keycaps that would fit this to try, but the included tool made removing the keycaps very easy and with no damage to them. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great 3/4 sized gaming keyboard, no reservations.

Glorious products are some of my favorite accessories and their 75% gmbk continues that tradition. While I’m typically not a huge fan of membrane keyboards, they did an excellent job with this one. The typing experience is nice and heavy and sounds great. Customizing the rbg lighting is generally a breeze, however their CORE software does lack a few features and can be a bit frustrating as there’s no save feature. On the other hand, though, changing the key caps is super easy with the included key cap remover and being able to use any MX compatible caps is wonderful. My only real complaint is the inability to switch out the actual switches but if you’re buying membrane kb, it’s not because you want to change out the switches. Overall, I very much enjoying their take on a membrane kb. For the money it is a must buy for gaming. I did find the feedback to be very accurate when playing Fortnite. I was able to build just as fast as my other gaming keyboards. It took very little time to get comfortable with this keyboard. I liked being able to move over some key caps that I am already comfortable with.
