A massive monster mash in the vein of Ridley Scott's Alien; a mix of slow-burn tension, charismatic actors (though lacking in particularly memorable characters), a triumphant score, and giant spectacle wherein the title character takes his sweet time taking the spotlight, but when he does, EVERY shot is a money shot.

With Pacific Rim last year, and Godzilla this year, Legendary has single-handedly brought back the monster flick. I feel like we may start seeing more blockbuster movies featuring giant beasts. Great movie that does a good job of staying true to its roots. The whole film had a very dire tone to it and was the most serious take on Godzilla since the original movie 60 years ago. The acting and action are both excellent and I would recommend it to old and new fans alike.

Old fashioned Godzilla fun, without Tokyo Tower.

I enjoyed the Blu ray of this most recent Godzilla, did not see it in the theater now I wish I had. Perhaps it would not have been as dark and hard to see in many places. Will try again and adjust the brightness level on my set. Overall a good to excellent movie with plenty to enjoy. Won't list the little things wrong as you may not notice, will recommend for any Sci Fi collection.

Americanized "Reimagining" of the 1954 Original

Sleek steelBook design for a solid Americanized reimagined of the original original 1954 Japanese film. Godzilla's screen time is minor, but his impact is not. Solid picture upgrade over the original blu-ray release....though this film is consistently dark.

I read some complaints by people who didn't like the late appearance of Godzilla. This wasn't a problem for me. The filmmakers were setting up the situation and this new interpretation of Godzilla. They then brought back the King of the Monsters, a force of nature, in all his near-indestructible glory. The human parts of the story are a tad hackneyed, but they work because Godzilla movies are about the people affected by the actions of the creatures.

    Godzilla 3D (2014) Movie Review

This movie is even more awesome watching it in 3D. I saw this movie in 2D in the theater and i thought it was cool then but it's even better in 3D for sure. It has Brian Cranston in it as the father figure who is desperate to get anyone to believe him and his warnings of what is to come. If you are looking for a great action movie filled with suspense, a great plot and a thrilling ending, then run out and pick up this movie right now.The 3D version is intense.

I loved how this movie treated Godzilla like a natural phenomenon, an act of God, a hurricane sweeping the coast. They keep him off screen for long stretches, telling a human story very well. When they do reveal him, he is awesome and some of the shots are a great homage/throwback to the "man in a suit" Godzilla of old. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will watch it again.

The most grounded of the modern Godzilla movies, I think this may be the best in many ways. This new 4K disc has good picture quality but has even better audio. Deep bass, it really shakes the room. Its a very exciting experience.

If you enjoyed the previous Godzilla offerings then you will definitely enjoy this movie. The story was well-written and developed nicely. The acting was a big improvement over previous monster movies from this genre....as can be expected, Bryan Cranston gives another great performance. Overall, a fun move to watch that seems like much more than your typical monster movie.

I think some of the reviewers were right when they said Godzilla was a little chubby compared to past versions. I thought this one was way better than the last, that one was bad. The people did more damage trying to kill it than Godzilla did itself. Having Bryan Cranston playing a bigger or longer role in the movie may have brought it up a notch. All in all it was too bad.

I have been a fan of Godzilla since childhood; I am looking at three different Godzilla figures arrayed around my desk right now. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. As far as this disk set goes, it is the best one to buy. I have watched it in 3D a couple of times and it does not disappoint. Not quite as awesome as seeing it in 3D Imax, but close. For just a few dollars over the 2D version, it is worth it just to see the tsunami scene, let alone the fights.

A great Kaiju monster movie the first movie in the Godzilla versus Kong movie world. Set the stage for kong skull Island and Godzilla king of monsters and ultimately Kong versus Godzilla. Godzilla that looks great and sounds great on 4K especially with the new Dolby Atmos sound mix would highly recommend this movie.

I absolutely love this movie! The monsters have such life to them and without speaking a word seem to convey not just emotion but also seem to be able to communicate all through powerful body language. I even feel bad for the villain monsters a couple of times just a little. Some peopl take issue with the pacing in the first half but I think it is absolutely critical for character development. Don't just sit there reading reviews, go get this now!

With all the hype around this movie I was a little worried it would disappoint, but after the first 10 minutes or so, I realized I was watching a Godzilla movie. The slow build up to the reveal of the monster, just like Toho classic Godzilla movies, was superb. The acting, particular Bryan Cranston, was believable. As an older person who remembers man in a rubber suit Godzilla, the CG rendering of the new Godzilla was perfect. I cannot wait for more!

    Introduction to modern Godzilla Monsterverse

A good start for modern era Godzilla but not perfect. Lots of cuts, bad angles and darkness make fights hard to follow. This is our introduction to Godzilla so tries to have a more human centered story and slow monster reveal which angered some people.

Does justice to the movie franchise

Aside from the Godzilla movie a few years ago, this recent version of the Godzilla franchise more closely resembles the original Japanese versions, along with other Atomic age monsters in tow. Since the original was loosely a political commentary on using nuclear weapons after WWII, this movie delves a little deeper and tries to intertwine facets from the original with this modern day movie. All in all, a good interpretation of the Godzilla movies.
