A good upgrade over the Blu-ray.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is it the best Godzilla movie? No. Is it the best 4K release? No. That said, the 4K disc itself is a good upgrade over the Blu-ray. The picture benefits from the HDR, and the Dolby almost track really shines in some parts, like adding a height component to the monster scenes. If you are a fan of the movie and REALLY want the best picture and sound, this is worth an upgrade. If you’re not that invested in it, then you might want to just hold on to your Blu-ray.

Excellent Movie / Tough Looking Godzilla
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Movie . Godzilla is an old time classic and I really liked how old Godzilla and facts of history were slightly twisted to give us a clear image of the true Godzilla even in this modern day set. Godzilla was beefy, was well designed, and nicely sculpted. He must work out at the gym a lot. Beautiful.... His enemies however looked fake, almost mechanical with their straight lines, LED-looking eyes, and not so natural which was the only real negative comment I would offer about the movie.

Godzilla as hero? Go figure.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.May be some plot spoilers in my review. Different strokes . . . but this is that much better than the Emmerich version? I much preferred the cast in the 1998 movie, and considering the fate of much of this cast, it's hard to make the case about their superiority. For those new to the franchise, Godzilla's role in this movie may come as a surprise. The graphic design of Godzilla and his antagonists also leaves me scratching my head. If you haven't seen the 1998 version, consider watching that for comparison. Plot and cast aside, it fulfills the noise and mayhem role rather nicely. The 3D is well done, even if it doesn't have the wow factor. If you've got a subwoofer (or seat shakers), buckle up.

7.5/10 Movie, 10/10 Blu-ray
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Movie: 7.5/10-- Strong direction and technical prowess make up for some of the scripts shortcomings. This flawed movie is nonetheless extremely entertaining, and earns a good spot alongside the classic Godzilla movies. Video: 10/10--Many have complained that it's too dark, but I didn't have that issue. Even in shadows, detail is strong and well-defined. Color is spot-on, I saw no compression artifacts, and contrast is on point. Audio: 10/10--Fidelity is amazing, LFE is as strong as it can be without being overpowering, rear speaker activity is frequent and convincing, dialogue is never ever buried and always clear. Extras: About what you'd expect, a solid if not too amazing array of extras.

Godzilla (steelbook) raids again
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie, while not the weakest in the western made Godzilla movies (Godzilla '98 I'm looking at you), is a good action film, that was overhyped with the casting of Bryan Cranston. Elizabeth Olsen , Aaron Taylor Johnson and Ken Watanabe carry much of the film. I personally wanted to see more Gojira and less humans. The steelbook is a beauty, and I am so happy to have it. If you can find it for a reasonable price, get it! Thank you Best Buy for making this available!

Too dark
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie's alright. Not as good as the new one. I'd take people in costumes any day. The bluray is darker than the movie shown in theaters. It at least gets you a free ticket to King of Monsters.

Still the King!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Godzilla proves that He is indeed the King of the Monsters. Bryan Cranston was great in his albeit limited role. I personally didn't have any feelings for Olsen, or Johnson, or even Watanabe in this film. The human story was barely enough to keep me interested. However the battle scenes between Godzilla and the MUTOs was epic. The scenes filmed in San Francisco were great, specially when the KIng uses his nuclear plasma. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Godzilla fan. I thought the original one with Raymond Burr was good, but that was about it. I felt that this one really hit the mark. I talked about the human actors, but they should have been secondary to the monsters in the movie. My biggest complaint is that there was not enough screen time for the big guy. The extras were great on the Blu-ray especially the mockumentary of the Monarch Organization.

Hollywood finally made a good Godzilla movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed this movie. It isn't tacky like the 1998 Godzilla that starred Ferris Bueller (I mean Matthew Broderick), and it has a pretty good cast. Bryan Cranston is unfortunately under used in the movie—he's gone almost as quickly as he's introduced, though the movie isn't really worse for it. Godzilla isn't featured super heavily in the movie (as he isn't really the main antagonist), but that really didn't bother me at all. I know that some people griped about it. I've also heard people complain about it not being actiony enough. If you enjoy seeing monsters fight and destroy stuff, you'll somewhat enjoy this movie, however don't expect anything like Michael Bay's Transformers movies. This movie is nowhere near as mindless as that. If you can't handle any slower paced scenes, just stick to Transformers.

Godzilla is awesome yet again.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Godzilla is BACK! and he looks better than ever. I really loved the new design and the special effects were amazing. I wish the fight scenes were a littbe but longer though and i wish the camera movements and scene swaps were a little more consistent but overall it was a really good movie. I enjoyed seeing Godzilla once again impress on the big screen and beat everyone up like a boss. I recommend this all fans of godzilla and casual movie goers too.

Monsters fighting in cities
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like movies with big scale monsters and robots fighting in the cities. This one is certainly it! For the fighting scenes, it is as good as Pacific Rim. The movie makes it more interesting by not only shooting the fighting scenes directly, but showing them indirectly in background, and on TV news. The cities give monsters comparison for their scales. The movie has more realistic visual effects than early transformers movies. You can feel the devastating power of the monsters. The side story of the Ford's family is not necessary. The Ford's father-son story makes sense and helps the movie develop.

Alright
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie was ok at best. It was a little long but it at least showed a different side of Godzilla. He wasn’t really at war with us so it took away from the planetary annihilation feeling.

Godzilla 2014 4K UHDHDR definitely worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4K UHD is definitely a large improvement over the 2K Blu-ray edition. The Blu-ray edition suffered from dark scenes which the majority of the movie was shot in. Because so many of the scenes were dark, making out detail on the creatures was next to impossible. The 4K UHD HDR version has brightened the entire film and specular highlight details as well as details in dark scenes are brilliantly and clearly presented. It is like watching the movie for the first time. This is an example of how 4K HDR Can be a vast improvement over the regular Blu-ray edition.

Godzilla Roars Back Into Action
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here is a worthy Gozilla for our time. Unfortunately, there is not enough of him. There is possibly too much build up for the big guy's entrance. But when he does grace the screen, it's magnificent. This is a fun recreation of a creature feature and Ken Watanbe nails it with a worthy warning to humanity and the impending announcement of "Godzilla". Bryan Cranston does not get enough screen time and Aaron Taylor-Johnson gets too much delivering a rather drab performance. But it's all still worth it with great cinematography, sound and special effects done right on Blu unlike the last incarnation starring Matthew Broderick. Here is a Godzilla worth cheering for.
