I absolutely love this movie! The monsters have such life to them and without speaking a word seem to convey not just emotion but also seem to be able to communicate all through powerful body language. I even feel bad for the villain monsters a couple of times just a little. Some peopl take issue with the pacing in the first half but I think it is absolutely critical for character development. Don't just sit there reading reviews, go get this now!

    Fantastic Monster Movie

With all the hype around this movie I was a little worried it would disappoint, but after the first 10 minutes or so, I realized I was watching a Godzilla movie. The slow build up to the reveal of the monster, just like Toho classic Godzilla movies, was superb. The acting, particular Bryan Cranston, was believable. As an older person who remembers man in a rubber suit Godzilla, the CG rendering of the new Godzilla was perfect. I cannot wait for more!

Thee Godzilla saga has finally begun here. It took way to long, but, It was worth the wait. We been asking for a long awaited film & soundtrack, finally came. The sequel that will follow up to this will not be the beginning, noir thee end. But a long awaited saga that the 60s & 70s got over seas. Now, the king of monsters is here to stomp city by city, & us humans have to help Godzilla fight.

Does justice to the movie franchise

Aside from the Godzilla movie a few years ago, this recent version of the Godzilla franchise more closely resembles the original Japanese versions, along with other Atomic age monsters in tow. Since the original was loosely a political commentary on using nuclear weapons after WWII, this movie delves a little deeper and tries to intertwine facets from the original with this modern day movie. All in all, a good interpretation of the Godzilla movies.

Don't bother with the 3D version

This is a good movie. It is light years better than the last Godzilla piece of garbage with Matthew Broderick. That being said, don't bother with the 3D version because there is almost no 3D at all in this movie. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was a complete waste of money. So, in summary, forget that the 3D version exists and buy this one. It's a great Godzilla movie.

When it was announced that Gareth Edwards would be helming a revitalization into the Godzilla franchise, I perked up immediately. From following the director, I knew we were in for a fresh perspective. While I found parts to be a little shallow, in all I got a wonderful new take on one of my childhood favorites. I cannot wait to see what the next installment holds.

I didn't have many expectations going into Godzilla, but what I tried to do was to stay away from spoilers. I did look at reviews such as rotten-tomatoes, but I always read those with caution and reserve my own judgements until I get an opportunity to watch the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I thought it was well-done. The effects were awesome, and the blu-ray quality both video and sound were top-notch. Overall this was a good purchase.

Gareth Edwards delivers a much better western take on Japan's proudest import than Roland Emmerich did with that garbage in 1998. Could have used more action scenes with Godzilla, but I do appreciate the sense of scale the cinematography provides.

Godzilla (2014) marks the triumphant return of fun monster movies. Godzilla returns with modern effects and a beefed up story line but still remains true to his origins. With all of the activity in the plot it is still a monster vs. monster slugfest not to be missed. If you ran home from school to see monster week on the 4:00 movie and cheer Godzilla to victory relive your youth in an all new hi-def adventure. It is just as fun as you remember!

Honestly, I was expecting very little going into this due to the previous American Godzilla, which might as well have been a poorly directed comedy, but this was actually a very entertaining movie. There isn't much Godzilla in it and the action is spaced out, but if more movies follow then I'd say it is a pretty good start to a series. Also, I was worried the CGI would end up destroying this movie for me, but it actually was pretty well done.

Overall good, as monster movies go. It incorporated some new twists into the Godzilla legend, but I thought it was well done and in keeping with the original themes and iconography of the Japanese/Toho movies. Good action and a decent story, albeit with glaring plot oversights... But it's a monster movie; we don't watch it for the compelling narrative, do we?

America finally got a Godzilla movie to be proud of. Intelligent, suspenseful & beautifully shot; this movie delivers the goods on the King of Monsters' 60th Anniversary! Solid acting from Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn & young Aaron Taylor-Johnson support a plot that steadily unfolds to the gigantic clash at the end of the film. Top notch special effects & cinematography make this blockbuster a monster hit- pun intended!

Everyone else in the house was hoping it wasn't going to turn into the last Godzilla movie. And it didn't. My only disappointment was *Spoiler Alert* Bryan Cranston dying so early on. I was looking forward to him being in the entire movie. Having said that, I really liked this one (other than that one thing) and am actually looking forward to the next one.

I liked this movie very much. The visuals were outstanding. The final scene with the monster fight was icing on the cake. The only problem I have with the movie, Godzilla wasn't in the movie enough. You would expect a movie about Godzilla would've had a lot more scenes with the star monster. I hope Skull Island isn't the same way.

    Good Start To A Franchise

The movie was good in a typical, gritty reboot of a famous character kind of way. I wish they had shown a bit more of the monster, as I thought multiple times "Oh, this is the big reveal", only to then have the focus be turned back on the main human characters. Other than that the special effects were very cool and I enjoyed watching. Would recommend.

After seeing this popcorn flick in theaters, I knew I had to own it on disc. The disc itself is round and shiny and rolls easily. Fortunately it also plays the movie in my Playstation 3 and sounds terrific. (That ROAR!) The behind-the-scenes bonus features are particularly kaijutastic.

An enjoyable popcorn flick. It's Godzilla, not Lawrence of Arabia, so don't expect much in the way of superior acting. The monsters are the show, and Godzilla never looked better. The plot is secondary and I am not going to spoil it. Needless to say, there is more than one giant critter reeking havoc. Which monster will win? Hail to the King, baby!

The movie itself is fantastic. Bryan Cranston does an amazing job as one of the main protagonists. The story is believable and realistic (despite a giant massive dinosaurish creature attacking the city). The origins of Godzilla are more like the original (no reproduction into raptors). This movie is beyond better than the 1990s Broderick version.

A must have upgrade from the blu ray even though its a darkly shot movie but when there are colors they pop thanks to the HDR and the detail on godzilla is awesome the Atmos audio feels luke hes stomping around outside your home!! So the next time you're at Best Buy pick up this movie.

Godzilla (2014) is a very exciting and awe inspiring film! I love big monsters and Godzilla is the king! This the newest American version of the character was well thought out and very well executed, much better than the 1997 Godzilla film! I highly recommend this film for any fan of the science fiction genre!
