Classic monster movie with a new twist in present day

I was so excited for this new 4k release! I finally got it, and I think it's just my TV, or maybe the disk, I'm not sure, but in all of the darker scenes and the fight scenes, I literally couldn't see ANYTHING. I even went into the settings on my TV and changed some things to make it a little better, but still not what I needed to enjoy the movie. Thankfully, the digital version it came with looks so so good. If it wasn't for that, I would have returned it. As far as the movie itself, it is a great movie. Godzilla is incredible, and it's what set up this new monsterverse that we all love!

Since 1954, Godzilla has reigned supreme as the King of Monsters. This 2014 feature brings him back with a tremendous roar of thunder and a nice homage to what has come before but also put a nice little spin to keep it fresh for the older fan and welcoming new fans. Warner Bros UHD features a very good quality image which is a slight improvement from the BD presentation as the HDR 10 helps boost the black levels a bit while keeping the rest of the presentation clean and natural. The Dolby Atmos track doesn't seem as impressive as it should whereas the DTS track on the BD is much more robust. A good amount of extra's are included to round out this welcomed title to the UHD fold!

What more do you need to know? It's Godzilla in all his glory! He looks awesome!

A lovely remake to a classic for so long definitely worth watching and owning.

Godzilla is a fun effort and kicks off Warner's MonsterVerse movies, which have only gotten better since this 2014 reboot. It's also a heck of a lot better than the 1998 flick from Roland Emmerich, although that's an awfully low bar... The 4K picture looks terrific even though this is an intentionally dark looking film, and the sound is very impressive. I absolutely love the steelbook presentation here, and the front cover is a smart piece of art. It's a sleek matte finish, but could have been improved with some spot glossing or embossing (how cool would it be to have raised spikes?).

Got the movie for my son. He loves it. He asks to watch it every night.
