I went into Gone Girl with moderate expectations. I cannot recall the last time I've ever been so shocked, and gratefully so, by the turn of a story; truly I did not see this coming as it did. Tiny fleeting suspicions, yes; but direction and dialogue disabused me of all my per-conceived notions. First saw Rosamund Pike in her role as the Earl of Rochester's wife in The Libertine with Johnny Depp. I found her performance in Gone Girl absolutely breathtaking and that's no exaggeration. This woman's ability to become the most convincing of chameleons is dazzling. Occasionally I actually did not recognize her! And it's not about makeup or costumes; it's about something inside of her that convinces. Gone Girl is diabolically deliciously frightening.

Interesting story. Good acting and directing. Blu ray sound and picture.

My wife gives it a 3Rating but I liked the movie and gave it a 4.

This film is Fincher at his finest. Pike is incredible in her role. Affleck continues to prove he is a solid lead (this guy is Bat Man now ya know). I loved seeing NPH and Perry in roles out of their comfort zones. Video Quality = OUTSTANDING - practically perfect - I read it was transferred from a 6K source Audio Quality = Good a little dull but this is not "that kind of film" with booming audio Extras = a little below average but the film is enough Great title, highly recommend the digi-pack with the short story book. This type of stuff is why I still love physical media.

David Fincher seems to be the master of the crime thriller, as every time I see a film he's directed, there's an overall feeling of it being absolute top quality. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are simply excellent in the two lead roles, for very different reasons. The subtlety in Affleck's performance is as impressive as Pike's more transformative portrayal of her character. All of the supporting characters are very good too. Tyler Perry, who knew? A tensely constructed mystery thriller that had me guessing, gasping, and captivated for the duration. The music works so well in giving the film an unnerving feel with the most unexpected approach, also. Another standout film from David Fincher, highly recommended.

Only concern is that the digital copy has an expiration date

One of the best films of 2014 and one of the best thrillers of any decade. Ben Afleck is at his best with a character that you feel sorry for and then just want to shake your head at over his stupidity on handling his wife's disappearance. There are not enough words to describe Rosamunde Pike's performance as the title character (and I do not want to use the word "amazing"), but she is another reason why the "Brits" can out-act a majority of their American counter-parts. Overall, the film and the book that it is based on are a reminder on why we should be thankful that the person we sleep next to is not like any of the main characters in this story.

One of the best movies of 2014 and one of the best thrillers of any decade. Gone Girl is an intense piece of film work that shows us that our relationships with our spouses or significant others may not be that bad compared to the main couple in this story. Ben Afleck is terrific as the husband who finds his wife is missing on their 5th wedding anniversary. One minute the viewer sympathizes with him, then turns on him when he mishandles the situation. Rosamunde Pike is a prime example why the "Brits" are superior in acting compared to a majority of their American counterparts. Whether on Blu Ray or DVD, this film is a must in anyone's collection.
