Pros: 1. $14.99 cheaper than the best steaming stick (with remote) on the market, Roku. 2. Wonderful design. Puck design. Can still be used as a puck, once it stops working in a short period of time. The hanging puck, on the wire may take its toll by constantly pulling on the wire from plug. 3. Easy to mirror desktop on to TV. Requires Chrome browser to work. Will not work with Windows Vista, or lower Windows version as Google Chrome is no longer supported on Windows Vista. (Google may stop supporting Windows 7 within a year or two of this writing.). 4. Easy to set up. Requires an Android or iPhone app for set up. (cannot set up using a computer alone) 5. Instant casting requires a dedicated cell phone. Perfect for those upgrading to a newer phone, you can use the old phone as a remote control for Chromecast for your TV.. Cons: 1. Remote control not supported and not included.. 2. Requires a computer (With Chrome browser) or Cell phone to operate. 3. A one time $14.99 savings is not worthwhile, considering that your kids will be constantly borrowing your cell phone to change programs.. If you have a six digit password on your cell phone, you will have a nightmare. 4.Does not support Windows Vista and very soon, Windows 7. 5. Does not support free Amazon Prime Videos, or anything Amazon. Big drawback even if you are not an Amazon fan.

This didn’t work for us so we had to return it back to the store.

Had issues with the standard chromecast rebooting all the time.

It does not correspond with the Google Home like I was told.

Been using the Chromecast to stream youtube videos and watch netflix on my screens that don't have a smart device attached to them. Works really well in hotels and getaways that have flatscreen TVs with HDMI inputs, as I can project my laptop or phone's videos directly onto that! Very easy and intuitive interface, I highly recommend getting one.

I have 2 Roku 3's, an Amazon Fire TV Stick and just purchased the Chromecast 2 at a local store last week. All three devices have a lot to recommend them. The chromecast - to me - is the most fun. There are so many things you can do with it, it's very fast, the picture is great and the apps - which are the apps from your cellphone or tablet - are robust and cast almost immediately. I love the Roku, but some apps - I am thinking Spotify in particular - are underdeveloped and inconvenient to use - especially if you subscribe to the service. Not a problem with this Chromecast, where you go right into Spotify's app, select from your favorite music, whole albums, etc, and everything plays immediately. It is so easy to choose screensavers from your Google photos, Facebook and others,and slideshows and presentations are a breeze. This is really different from just another stream to watch television device.For $30, you can't go wrong. Again - it won't replace a Roku or Amazon device used by multiple people. Because it cast from your cellphone, it is more personal than universal. But it sure works great and it sure is fun!

I returned my Chrome the next day. It wasnt worth the money

Setup was easy and the ability to cast from any phone or laptop makes watching my favorite videos and movies super easy.

We purchased HDTV for the first time in July 2015, (yes I just wanted to see my korean drama in big screen) and I noticed that it is compatible with Netflix, Youtube, Viki and Dramafever. It is very simple to use and easy to sync. I'd recommend for chromecst for basic user. Sometimes, if your wifi is out of range, you just need to reset the chromecast and plug it to nearest tv that picks up the wifi signal in hot spot area, then piug back in to the first tv. It should do the trick.

Great product just picked it up in store today. Hooked up to ac wifi seems much faster. One reason for writing this review others have stated you must use power adapter which is false. The instructions state to plug into wall adapter however there is also fine print that states it may be used with usb power from tv too. So to those saying its requried please read instructions in full. Also im ising it now no power brick just usb from tv.

All you need to do is hook it up do your tv's HDMI outlet. Voila! You have a lot of apps and anything you can run in chrome streamed wirelessly from your mobile device or computer to your TV. It's very easy for me to display vacation photos and videos for my entire family to enjoy when they visit for the holidays.

I originally purchased a Fire Stick from Amazon. It installed correctly, and did an excellent job of streaming Amazon movies. However, when I tried to watch any You Tube video all I got was garbled audio that I could not understand. I called the Amazon tech people three different times to have them fix the problem. The first tech said that the stick was defective and I needed to return it. The second tech said that the Galaxy s6 phone was the problem and that I needed to call Samsung for help. Since I can play You Tube videos on the phone without any garbled audio, I knew the phone was not the problem. I called Amazon back, and the third tech spent about 45 minutes trying various troubleshooting things, finally gave up, and told me he would research the problem and call me back. Of course, he never did call back so I returned the stick. When I went to the Best Buy store today, there was a Google rep at a table, so I asked him about the Chromecast. He explained all the details about it, took one out of the box, showed me how to hook it up and use it, and assured me that I would be able to watch You Tube videos without any audio problem. It took me about 10 minutes to hook the Chromecast up, download the Chromecast App to my phone, wait for it to update itself and start watching a You Tube video. The video worked perfectly and the audio was not garbled. I then tried to mirror the Galaxy s6 to the TV by using the mirror button on the phone, but it didn't work. With a little research I found out that the Chromecast doesn't actually mirror by using the mirror button. That sounds strange, but trust me when I say that you can mirror the phone by using the Chromecast App itself. Regardless, the Chromecast might not have the specs that the Fire Stick has but the Chromecast worked for me and Fire Stick did not.
