Great product for using entertainment center
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Chromecast. I use it to stream media from my computer or iPad to the TV. I have one at our lakehouse which is wired for the internet but for which a cable package for TV just isn't economical. I get a DirecTV package with local channels and can use the Chromecast to watch a lot of other stuff from the internet like ESPN. It would be nice if the Chrome browser on the iPad could be used for streaming to Chromecast like my laptop does.

Great Item
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have purchased an earlier model of this product. We are not computer educated but it was super easy to set up and we love to watch our daughter in Texas during her live streaming concerts on our big screen tv. This is the best product we have ever gotten. Heard about it by word of mouth and just bought it. The price was such that it was worth a risk of getting something we could not use. But the product was a great investment for our enjoyment.

Best streaming device out there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't understand why people spend $80+ on a Roku or even more on something like Apple TV. Google Chromecast and the Google Cast app (free from Google Play, iTunes App Store) are the easiest and least expensive way to get any content from your phone/tablet/computer, to your TV screen. With the addition of "Cast my Screen" functionality, you can now literally send anything on your phone/tablet/computer to your TV. Set up is simple and it's a breeze to unplug and take with you to use while traveling (hotels, friends house). Or, if you really want to impress your parents with "technology" and let them see the wonder that is the Labradoodle that looks like a lion, on their big screen, set up on new tv's is a breeze and takes

Excellent device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a gift for my husband after talking with a friend who loves theirs. It's a hit with him. He loves the ability it gives him to plan out what he's going to watch and then sit back and relax. Not to mention, he really appreciates the flexibility that allows use with many devices. He's ready to go out and buy another one. Given the price, I won't object, plus, I can have one too!

easy to stream
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this was a great value for the price. able to stream different apps seamlessly. set up was very simple, I had it un-boxed and up and running and no time at all. The only downside might be that watching sports did seem a bit choppy, I do not know if this is due to my internet, or product limitations. however I don't have any experience with other media streamers to compare it to.

Best streaming box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to some of the other streaming devices, this is the easiest to use. Lot's of apps are already compatible, and works on both iOS and Android devices. Very easy to set up and easy to use.

Laptop Screen Mirror Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed Chromecast (cc) yesterday and have been playing with it since. My primary purpose for the cc was to mirror my laptop screen to our TV. We have a large number of old slides that were scanned to .jpg files and I wanted to review and annotate them with the entire family. The initial install of the cc was a no brainer. Plugged it into my amp/receiver, selected the source, and ran through the entire setup process. The hardest part was pulling my receiver from the rack and plugging in the cc. From start to finish, it was less than five minutes. Casting from the standard apps such as Netflix is also a nobrainer. In fact, any of the standard cc apps work perfectly. Unfortunately, that's where 'easy' ends. Screen mirroring from a laptop is an 'experimental' feature and it took me some time to find the 'how to' to do it. It's buried in a menu under a small down arrow that you'd never notice if it wasn't pointed out to you. For such an important feature, it should be a big button within the cc app menu and should work without issue. I still can't figure out how to cast my iPad screen. Overall, it works fine and in the hands of a power user, it's very handy from a laptop or Android phone. That said, although the price point is great, it's really not ready for the consumer market except for streaming content. My 'recommend to a friend' is conditional on that friend either just wanting to stream content or to a power user.

Well worth the cost.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ease of set-up was great, I like the price, I like being able to show my pictures and videos on the TV with this product, I like being able to move the product to another TV with ease. I would have given this 5 stars except that I had to reboot it after a month to reconnect with my Wifi, but it was an easy fix.

Great improvement over the first model!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the form factor isn't as nice, this model does improve on everything the first gen did in regards to speed and even some features! Not a buy if you're still able to stream everything just fine using the first gen, but if you want the fastest possible chromecast experience this is a must!

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this product is legit. I have one in my living room and one in my bedroom. I dont watch tv thru my cable box at all. I have the apps to the channels I want on my phone and tablet plus other media and stream them straight to my tv's. This is a must have, and its SOO MUCH CHEAPER THAN ITS COMPETITORS

A great sequel to a great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved all of my original chromecasts however I did think the wifi was a little slow. I no longer have that issue with the new model. I also, as always, received some great offers including a free movie rental with this purchase. I find it hard to even consider any other streaming device when this covers it all so well for only $35. I personally LOVE using my phone as a remote for it.

Great streaming device under $35
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works as advertised. A dedicated GUI on the TV to navigate between different apps and universal remote support would be nice than controlling it with a phone all the time which can be annoying sometimes, It is a great little streaming device which does the job without any bells and whistles. Overall I am satisfied with my new chromecast.

Best $35 I ever spent!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More powerful processor, faster and better wireless connection make this device even better than the awesome original. Plug it in, follow the 2 minute "on screen" instructions, and you are on to a world of streaming. Works with my laptop, phone, tablet, and Chromebook. Best Buy has them in the store too.

Wonderful Product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a way to stream from my laptop without a cord connected to my TV. The chromecast was super easy to both install and use. Just plug it into the hdmi jack and a power cord and load software on the streaming device and away you go. Love it!

Easy Installation! Portable and Fast.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently have a 802.11AC wireless router and my decision came down to buying an Amazon Fire TV or Google Chromecast since they both support wireless AC. I chose the Chromecast based on the price and supposed solid integrated software build. I am pleased to say that the Google Chromecast is simply great. It was a breeze installing it and I love how it remains hidden behind my TV while plugged in via USB. Being plugged in via USB is great since the Chromecast will only be on when the TV is on as well, saves energy. It does require more work to use since there is no remote and you have to use your smartphone, tablet or computer to initiate the content stream. I have gotten used to it and everything has been streamed seamlessly. I have ZERO disconnections so far. There are no ADS or commercials that Google pushes onto you; it is just straight to the content. I am a happy customer!

Simple To Use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had not problems recently. The only negative about the product is that the app will only let you cast certain things. No worries though I was able to download a different tv cast that allows me to play other web content besides netflix and hulu.

Picks up weak signal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Chromecast wouldn't pick up the weak signal in my bedroom. This version picked it up right away and I haven't had any trouble with buffering while watching.

Works as designed. Replacing Comcast Cable Boxes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product works just fine for me. We have seven (7) TVs in our house and comcast is our cable provider. For years I've paid a monthly fee for each converter box. We are now down to one main xfinity X1 box. The other TVs are hooked up to chromecast device and we stream live TV from a chromebook and macbook using the chromcast extension on google chromes browser and the xfinity TV to go website. You can cast ALL your channels if you connect to a comcast home wifi. Basically, the chrome + mac books replaced the the converter boxes. Don't forget that as of 2/16/16, Best Buy is giving away a $10 gift card when you buy a chromecast device so the next is 25 VS 35

Version 2 is even better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You've read the reviews, won't go there, I'll just say version 2 of this great product is well worth buying. For the most part, everything streams perfectly, and I have hope even more apps support it in 2016. Must have for every TV out there!
