This product is really practical, you just install it on your TV and easily connect you cellphone/tablet/note.

I am always trying out various media delivery devices on my TVs. I've got Roku boxes all over the house. I have tried the old Apple TV and the Fire TV, and I even have a Chromecast installed on one of my TVs, too. So when I saw this new Chromecast I thought I would use up my $20 in Best Buy credits and pay the remainder with my credit card. The device arrived and I hooked it up to one of my TVs. I generally find the installation process of these devices to be pretty easy and straight forward. But not this one. For whatever unknown reason, I could get only so far through the process before it would stall. I tried and tried to no avail. I finally gave up and installed a Roku Stick which installed quickly, easily and correctly. I do see from the other reviews that most people had no problems with the install. Normally I don't either. I have no idea why this one was problematic but it was. I may try it on another TV at some other time. But right now I am fried and disappointed with my results. By the way, the other Chromecast that I have works fine although I found that operating it with my cellphone or laptop is a lot more cumbersome than operating the Roku boxes which come with their own, very functional remote controls. In general I would recommend a Chromecast to a friend despite my difficulties, however my first recommendation would be to get a Roku box. Sorry Google!

The original Google Chromecast was a revolutionary device that changed how people used their TVs. This updated version of the dongle only improves on its predecessor. It has 5GHz Wifi connectivity (802.11ac) for faster streaming and seamless connections. With more and more apps being cast-enabled, the chromecast is absolutely worth the purchase at this point.

I like the design of this item and its easy to configure and use.

I have both the original chromcast as well as this new 2015 model. I must say that with the new support for wireless N the streaming performance got the boost that it needed. I am now able to stream video directly from devices by casting my screen (non google cast content) without it lagging badly. The only disadvantage is that this new model does seem to get hung up and stop working on rare occasions when using google cast content. It is not a real big deal as it doesn't happen often but when it does it is frustrating to recover from.

So simple to set up and use...and the quality of the casts are excellent. At this price...why not?

This was easy to hook up and even easier to use. It's get for home and would make an awesome gift.

this device is easy to set up and use. It works with Android phones and tablets, apple iphones and ipads, and many windows laptops that have the symocast feature. For the price this is an easy way to show what is on a small screen device on you big screen tv or projectors.

I purchased a Google chrome cast as an easy way to surf from my laptop and share videos easily from my phone. It works great, and while doesn't offer the full array of features like an apple tv does, it still is a very solid product. For the price it just can't be beat.

New Chromecast is really good and does exactly what it supposed to do. Very easy to setup.

Cheapest streaming device out there and the best too

This product worked good once I discovered that there was a software update that was not described in the set up. When downloading extension you have to download beta version to get the updated version and to complete set up. If you do not download beta version you will get error message that there is a new updated version.

At times I get tired of looking at my phone and iPad to look at Netflix so after various days of reading reviews and comparing I made my decision. The only thing I didn't realize is that it needs to charge on the wall outlet while not being pulled into the television once a week at night. The message will say something like "be right back momentarily" that's when you know it needs a charge.

Bought this as a Valentine's gift. Set up is incredibly easy but if you only have your phone to use it's a pain. Tested it out by calling and of course the movie stopped and photo ID popped up on screen instead. Ended up exchanging for Roku. Rather have a remote and be free to use my phone whenever. Also, voices did not match up. Read other reviews that make it seem this is a common problem.

This is my fifth Chromecast. I have the first generation all the way to the newest one and I use them on every TV in my house. Not only that, but I've been giving them as gifts to my friends and family for years! The ease of use makes it just as amazing. The best part of having it is being able to name each one independently, so I can choose to 'cast' a video from my phone or tablet to any of the different Chromecast devices I have in my home. Not only that, but there is a guest mode so other people can send stuff to the TV as well! I use it for everything from watching movies and youtube videos to playing music and audiobooks. I love it and cannot recommend it enough!

I'd been hearing good things about Chromecast for a couple of years, now I know why. I just recently got rid of satellite because it wasn't worth spending that much money every month on 250 channels with nothing on. I signed up for Netflix and Hulu, and was using an HDMI MHL cable with my old phone. The Galaxy S7 I just upgraded to wasn't compatible with that cable, so I had to buy a Chromecast. I'm glad I did. Now I can cast without having my phone hooked up to a cable by the TV. My phone acts as a remote, which is a bonus. I also like that you can mirror your phone screen to the TV for those apps that don't support Chromecast. All in all, a great product.
