I got it for the kids to cast their VR headset to the TV but the portability factor is what I like most - when I'm on business trips I bring it and can easily watch Netflix or Prime stuff on hotel tv's.

I do not have internet at the house except for a Hotspot iPhone. Chromecast did work OK, but still needed the Hotspot internet link to specify the "Home Location". I wish Chromecast didn't need to talk to the internet. I have my printer, TV, computer and iPhone connected by a LinkSys router.
