Seeing as this is a device made by google you would think it would easily connect to the platform they Created. Anyways, when I click on YouTube in my phone and hit “cast” it never finds the chromecast. Every other app on my phone works like a charm. I have one connected to my garage TV for when I’m working out and another on my deck TV. Both have problems with YouTube only.

Thanks for letting us know of this odd behavior you’re experiencing with your Chromecast.
Since you were able to isolate that the issue is only with the YouTube app, here are some troubleshooting steps that could help fix it:
- Confirm if the YouTube app version is up to date.
- Uninstall and Reinstall the app.
- Restart your router.
- Unplug the Chromecast from the power source for one minute then plug it back in.
- Restart your phone.
- Try to cast from another mobile device to isolate if it’s a device issue.
- Perform a factory reset on your Chromecast device:
- While your Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on Chromecast for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light turns into a flashing red light.
- Once the LED light turns blinking white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The Chromecast will begin the reboot sequence.
