For me, it's a dice roll each time I turn it on -- will I get audio through the tv or not? My Sony tv works well in general, my smartphone is 6 feet directly to the Chromecast, my wifi signal is good. I've gone through all the online advice about how to fix the problem, and it's still there. When it works, it's nice. When not, it's pretty frustrating.

I read several reviews and articles saying this would be possible. Well, it isn't possible, so I returned it. If you need a casting device and you will always have internet, this will work fine. If you want to be able to cast local content without an internet connection, forget about it.

I read other reviews and saw some users had issues of it dropping the connection and thought that it was a rarity! Was I wrong! My Samsung TV is a smart tv and has internet connectivity! My point is I never have any issues running Netflix, YouTube etc... 50% of the time when mirroring from my IPhone it drops the connection from my google home system! My google home system works fine when blue tooth connection is set up to my TV to play music from google home to TV so it can not be my Google home system! I have moved the Chrome cast to A TV directly over my WIFI router and still drops the connection! My WIFI is 200 MBS so no problem for speed! It gets really overheated? I have had this for 2 months! I would not waste your money or time as you will spend day in day out rebooting this piece of Junk! I should have returned it before my 30 day mark! I will be contacting Google tomorrow and they need to get me a unit that works!

Please be advised that Chromecast does not support mirroring or cast screening for iOS devices. If you are using a 3rd party application to mirror your iOS device, performance and reliability is not guaranteed as it depends on the capability of the 3rd party application.
Chromecast and its power adapter generate heat during normal operation and comply with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. We advise not to touch during use, and let it cool down before getting in contact with it.
