Thanks for letting us know of your experience with Chromecast. We know how frustrating it can be when you experience connection issues while watching a movie from your favorite streaming apps.
There are some factors that may affect its performance during casting. You can try these troubleshooting steps:
- Toggle Wi-Fi off/on your phone.
- Exit any battery-draining applications that are running in the background.
- Turn off power saving mode on your device.
- Decrease the distance between the TV, casting device (phone/tablet/computer), and Wi-Fi router. The distance should be less than 15-20 feet (5-6 meters) apart, ideally within the same room.
- Keep your phone’s operating system up to date.
- Unplug both the Chromecast and the router from the power outlet and leave it for at least 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, plug it back in, and wait for it to completely reboot.

Like that you can cast plenty of apps to it. If still running a 1080p tv then there is no need to get the new model. The newer ultra model adds 4K and stadia gaming. If not using those then no need to switch. But in 2020 I would rather replace thes old chromecast with the new chromecast with google tv.
