If you want to share the desktop and not just the Google Tab, you have a few more steps to take, but it's easy to use once you figure it out.

Just OK to try to "smarten up" a 10-year-old TV

It usually worked OK--any issues might have been my relatively ancient set--but it did require a power cable to run. It does not come with a remote, so you use apps on your phone to control it. I like the apps it supports, but I preferred the remote that came with my Amazon Firestick. Within a couple of months, I upgraded to a new TV with Chromecast built in.
