If you're looking to use it camping, want to cast stored content to your TV without using cellular data/ WiFi internet or you don't even have that... this ain't your device. Buy a Roku Stick, those do that and they're cheaper. Unfortunately, we believed the articles and bought the device. Works fine if you give it an internet connection. No technical or legal reason you need the internet connection to cast stored content. So oversight or control issue on Google's part you decide, but they sure as heck like to track everything you do and that's the only reason I can come up with for insisting on the internet connection in this circumstance. Very disappointed, liked using a wired connection much better - simple for camping, cheap solution with few parts. Here we had to get a travel router, the Chromecast etc and need internet. *grumbling* oh and they do get hot, so don't attach it to the wall. Let it hang for air flow. The first one we got overheated even then and was glitching, dropped the cast repeatedly etc. Had to swap for a second which works fine, such as it is. Google should be able to design better hardware.

It functions exactly as I expected it to, but the only wish I had for it was for it to turn off my TV. My TV turns off automatically when not in use but chromecast keeps the TV on when it's not in use until physically turned off.

Works for what I bought it for with no problems. Pretty annoying that it’s difficult to change WiFi if moved to a new location. Having to factory reset everyone is annoying and time consuming.

Here are the steps that you can use to change the Wi-Fi network on your Chromecast:
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi as your Chromecast device.
- Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
- Tap your device.
- At the top right corner, tap Settings and then Wi-Fi and then Forget and then Forget network.
- You’ll be taken back to your home screen.
- Follow the steps to set up your Chromecast on a new network.
Please note that these steps are only applicable if your Chromecast is connected to an existing Wi-Fi network but you'd like to connect it to a new one. Otherwise, you need to do a factory reset if your Chromecast isn’t connected to any network.
