    I have a some what smart TV that does not have a chromecast. I am using it with a wifi extender which isn't the best way to connect to it...but still works great for me. I would recommend the HD device since most tvs are high def. I had the first generation and loved it so I got this one since the USPS lost my old one in the mail. But I am happy with the device even thought I bought it for myself as a birthday gift.
