Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the Chromecast Ultra's ease of use, excellent picture quality, and impressive 4K streaming capabilities. Many appreciate its straightforward setup and generally positive performance. However, some users mention the relatively high price point and the lack of a dedicated remote control as drawbacks. A few also noted occasional lag or heat issues.

Part of smart home, just wish it would change channels, etc, simply turns the tv on/off right now, simple streaming. Work in progress I guess.

I own both and I can't really tell the difference between the two, The basic one is half the price and the better value in my view.

      Hi dracochan,

We appreciate you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

The major difference between Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra is the resolution capabilities. While Chromecast can cast videos of up to 1080p resolution, Chromecast Ultra can cast content up to 4K Ultra HD and HDR (High Dynamic Range). If the content you'd like to cast is a high resolution content such as 4K or HDR, you would need Chromecast Ultra since Chromecast can cast up to 1080p.

This device isn't as user friendly as it could be. We've had a few issues with as you have to download two apps in order to get use out of it.

This can be improved a lot. Can't directly cast my photos and videos from iPhone. Youtube casting is pretty easy but not with other apps and iPhone photos and videos.

So I got this to use with the Google home mini I had gotten myself. And after setting it up I still have to use my phone to stream online. Not worth the hassle.

I have both Ultra and Chromecast and see no difference. Save your money and either purchase cheaper chromecast or wait till the technology gets better.

Older versions were better than this one

I have an older Chromecast from somewhere 2015-17 and it works better than this Chromecast Ultra 4k. It used to work for months, then all of a sudden I get no sound from it. Even after factory reset and try it on different TV's, I get no sound whatsoever. I read online that other people were having the same trouble. Please avoid this if you don't want to have a headache in the end.

I was disappointed to learn after much trying that the Chromecast won't work on the same network as my mobile hot spot. I was disappointed that I can't use it.

I thought this product would be an internet streaming device only to find out that it is just a "Dongle!" Already have a Dongle! Returned the Google - Chromecast Ultra for a refund! If you need a streaming device, don't waist your time on this one! Go for the "Mi Box!" It has Google - Chromecast Ultra built in with its own streaming without only mirroring your smart phone like a "Dongle!"

Don’t think there’s use for this as you can use AirPlay to cast. App is very confusing and complicated.

Chromecast works ok, but you have to load all the apps on your mobile device. Roku is much more simple with apps on screen and the handy remote.

This is an awesome device; however the reason I gave it three stars is because the screen saver uses quite a bit of data and you cannot turn it off.
