Really simple to use, same as the non-Ultra 4K variant. But, it will need to be plugged into an electric outlet.

The Google Chromecast audio media streamer provides a convenient method of connecting existing audio systems with a single, shared source of streaming audio. The set up app for the device is Google Home and the process is both simple and easy to follow and comprehensive in terms of device control. The Chromecast audio streamer in conjunction with Google Home app directs an audio stream to one or several (a "group") designated audio "speakers" (where a speaker is self-powered or by powered by an audio system with amplifier). The output of the Chromecast audio streamer is a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This allows the use of the provided 3.5 mm cable or an optical cable (3.5 mm to TOSLINK) to an amplifier with optical input. We use four of the Chromecast audio streamers to direct streamed audio to one or more of four disparate audio systems in our house. For our purposes, there is little downside to the Chromecast audio streamers (in conjunction with Google Home) and we regret that Google has discontinued the device. We were pleased to find the Chromecast audio streamer on ebay. The Chromecast audio streamer is not for those who want total control of speakers or distributed audio systems throughout a house or other setting, including the ability to turn on/off or adjust volume/muting of individual speakers or audio systems. The better known Chromecast device with HDMI output connection is great for amplifiers with an HDMI input but not useful for older amps designed more for 2-channel audio and without and HDMI input.

The Chromecast Ultra streams both audio and video in all formats. Way faster more stable and smoother than the first gen Chromecast.

Easy to use! Smooth as I wished. Only Cons you need to use chrome operation only for this product.

Almost same as first chromecast except it has a actual AC plug and not just a USB. Also it more flexible than the first to be able to put in tighter spaces like behind a TV. if your TV, projector etc doesn't support 4k quality i'd recommend buying the cheaper chromecast.

I'm very happy with the Ultra 4K experience. I have it connected directly to my modem via Ethernet when im using it. Great buy!

Works great. Still doesn't support screen mirroring without both devices being on same WiFi. Casting is fast and smooth. Even turns your TV into a random picture show.

Its fast to set up , no clutter, just attached at the back of the tv, it does not lag. Will recommend to anyone

mainly use it to cast youtube videos from iphone/ipad to 4k hdr tv, much faster than original chromecast and picture is much better

It does the same exact thing no difference, besides it playing stuff in 4K. It might be snappier than the regular one

I finally bought a new TV after many years (I still had a cathode ray tube set!) with Roku, but the one thing that it was missing was the ability to mirror my computer and play things that aren't on a channel. Anything I can watch on my computer I can now watch on the big screen TV. If your TV doesn't come with Roku or similar ways to watch streaming services, this will also give you that ability. Set up is super easy as is use.

This is a great upgrade for any 4k TV owner. My LG OLED doesn't come with proper support of mirroring my iPhone to the TV. The quality is superb and it is snappier.

Updated from the original, and this one was so much easier and quicker to setup. 4k content looks great, and loads very quickly.

Very simple setup with tons of features. Picture quality and the speed of loading makes this well worth it for those with a 4k TV.

This new Chromecast is definitely faster than the previous version. Videos start up faster and play much smoother than the previous Chromecast, which was no slouch itself. Playing high definition videos from Vudu works without issues, and playback is smooth. Just make sure you have a really good wireless router, and sufficient bandwidth to cast these high definition videos. They really take up a lot of bandwidth.

Stream beautifully. Price is right. Operation simple. Couldn't ask for a better product.

I needed to get creative for our window displays in our real estate office, no more little sheets to change out but big screen tvs that show our listings and our team. Chromecast! It feeds from a Google Photos account, I can cast video of properties, and even get an episode of Santa Clarita Diet playing off my Netflix account on my iphone.
