simple plug and play unit. If you enjoy streaming and casting, the updated 4k media device fits the bill. I take it with me on the work trips and vacation. I PMatched to get a better price on the unit

I have a smart TV like 90% of you. I didn't understand why you would need a media streamer if you ALREADY HAVE A SMART TV.
Now I do! The Media Streamer is so much more quicker, reliable, and support more casting than on your TV! I feel like you get your worth with Google outta the bunch. Support 90% of media I want to watch except for Amazon TV.

Hooked this up to my LG OLED and it can take advantage of all the ultra hd deep black settings. Hands down the best media streamer I have owned. This puts original Chromecast, Roku 3, and Roku 4 to shame in its ability to direct stream content from Plex and speed at which it buffers videos. A must buy for anyone with a Google Home or Mini.

I can say is it's better and faster than the original! Ethernet cable capability adapter plug allows it to connect directly from the plug to the cable modem. Then you um recommend that you download Google Cast your laptop for on Google and for your phone use Google home app she helped me use device. So you can cast ,scream faster n quicker then with the Wireless( original)! it's always best to have a good high-speed internet connection. I mean I used Cox Cable from my internet company! I had issues I called you problems when it's been resolved.so if it won't work properly and sometimes you might have to call the internet company r upgrade interested speed r cable modem. There's some tweaks overall I would say it 10 times better then the Wireless Google - Chromecast.

It is hard to review a 4K Chrome-cast with so little 4K content available. I have watched a the new Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in 4K on my 4K tv with both an original Chrome-cast and a Chrome-cast Ultra. There was a slight improvement but nothing spectacular, though the Samsung 55" UKS9000 series TV may have a lot to do with that.
The biggest noticeable improvement comes from the device being a wired device. I did not have to deal with issues when both kids and my wife are streaming various videos to their tablets. This aspect was significant enough that I have ordered the wired Ethernet adapter for the Chromecast that is attached to the second TV.
I do not know if this supports WIFI, but in an apartment situation where there will be a lot of congestion on WIFI I am thinking the wired aspect of this will be a major benefit.

Great product ! 4K is awesome! Easy to use and affordable. It does overheat often but it doesn’t ever have an issue with overheating. Runs smooth anyways

I own several 1st generation Chromecasts and have owned Rokus. The newest version on the Chromecast provides a more clearer picture and less lag. Chromecast are by far the easiest streaming device to use!

I bought the original ChromeCast when it came out and have been using it ever since. When I purchased YouTube TV, the original Chrome Cast was laggy and slow. After purchasing the Chrome Cast Ultra, I have been very impressed with the speed and quality of the stream onto my TV. It works seamlessly from my phone or my laptop.

I love technology and always want the latest and greatest. That said, I wanted to upgrade to the Ultra but waited for the price drop. I love having 4K video availability. While I mostly use my apple TV I like having a Chromecast to cast my phone and tablet screen to the TV as well as watch videos I rent from Google Play.

Wanted to be able to stream from desktop PC in one room to TV in another. The PC wasn’t able to recognize the device in the other room but using the app on my iPhone while in the same room as the device, setup was a breeze. Now I can stream using Google Chrome on my PC to my TV. Picture is clear and with our WiFi system, no issues with streaming at all. It does what I needed it to do.

how does google improve upon an already useful product, with the chromecast ultra ... setup is quicker and easier, connection seems to be more stable (at least so far) than the original chromecast (which will disconnect at random) ... i would like to try using the wired connection next to see how much quick it'd be ...!

This thing is awesome! I used to use it to watch YouTube and things on the regular tv, now with our new one (that has Chromecast built in) I'll use the ultra on the smaller tv and watch 2 football games at once or football and baseball at the same time at that time of year. The picture and sound quality are excellent!!

There are lots of ways to do what this does, but if you use a smart phone, this makes lots of things easier. Also casts things nothing else casts as well. Don't need to go to the YouTube app, Netflix, etc., you can choose and cast from your phone. Your phone is your remote. Great for photos, music and lots of other apps, websites. Chromecast Ultra is awesome with Google Photos. Screensaver your photos while playing music on something else, that alone keeps us entertained for hours. Great purchase.

I have seen the deals on standard version before, but not the ultra one. I jumped in when I saw the Black Friday deal on this. 4k streaming at this price is really good. This version also has a network socked on the adapter, so you can actually wire in and reduce the latency even further. Pretty good device!

Expensive - Ethernet Option is Great - Finicky

I picked the Chromecast Ultra up to complement my Roku Ultra becuase Roku consistently has contract disputes with several media companies which results in the loss of the channel/content on their service. It is also very helpful if you want to cast your computer screen/chrome tab to a television.
To be honest, I do not use it very often but it is very useful for streaming content from my computer when necessary which is my primary use. The ethernet port is great, but disappointing that I had to spring $70 for the Ultra because it is the only option that has the ethernet port option. The connections are stable through ethernet and offer 4k resolution.
I have to troubleshoot this device more than I would like and the process for reinstalling is a bit of a pain. Last week I wasn't getting audio for some reason and the only solution after spending 30 minutes trying many other options was to reset to factory settings. This process requires that I re-add the device to my Google Home app on my phone and go through the setup menu. Not that bad I guess if I had just done this initially becuase I feel I am pretty tech savy but this might be a pain for the less technically inclined for how often this can happen.
The wireless connection when I cast from my phone can be a bit spotty but I think that has more to do with the specific app and not the Chromecast becuase netflix and a few other apps seem to work no problem.
I'd recommend this only if you really want the ethernet/4k option and honestly if you have most of the content you want on a Roku and don't need to cast from your computer I might just go with that. If a chromecast is absolutely necessary go with a cheaper one.

Love the ease and the functionality Have Several thousand videos downloaded and wanted them on a bigger screen than pc offers. Use this and Videostream for Google and there they are. Have the old Chromecast and the new. Worth the extra $$$ for the Ultra. Yes there are other ways to cast, I prefer this way.

I was one of the orginal pre-orders for the first generation of chrome cast. And while that has served me well, it was time to upgrade to 4k to work with my TV. This is just as easy to use, with more compatible apps and a better picture.
