    I am a big fan of android and Google systems, so when this was on sale and I had some reward $s to use I picked this up to "smarten-up" my older flat screen. I had a chromecast plugged in before I got this and moved it to a different set. I like the Nexus Player over the chromecast unit and would say if you are on the fence go with the player. It has its own remote so there isn't a NEED for a tablet or smartphone but it can still cast from them. The remote is Bluetooth not line-of-sight (benefit in my opinion). So mine is actually located behind my other electronics (completely out of sight). I have an Apple TV as well and would say this is basically comparable. It does not have all the apps a person might want, so only the 4 stars (cause no half option). Easy set up.

    Even though the Chromecast works great, the on screen menu and dedicated remote of the Nexus Player make this even better.

    You can't go wrong, early reviews did not do it justice. Current rev 5.1.1 works great, and the device can be rooted.
