And being a typical Nexus device is a good thing. I own the 5, I had the 7, but I destroyed it and got the 7 2013 model, and I have the 10. And now I the Player. You'll probably see this review a little one sided as I'm somewhat of a fanboy of the Nexus line. But I can sure tell you that they have their pros and their cons. For one, this device is performing just as I expected. I recently upgraded to Marshmallow and it is performing fine. Sure, there are not a lot of apps available (con), but I'm not looking to open up a whole library of apps to play from a Android device on my TV. I have game consoles and PCs for that. One of the things that I was interested in it was getting my media across from my Windows 7 server to my TV in another room to which the Player is connected. The app Kodi (formerly XBMC) is working like a champ. THAT SURE BEATS HAVING ANOTHER PC CONNECTED TO THIS TV CAUSING MY EDISON BILL TO DOUBLE. I'm able to use it exactly as I intended and for a very modest price. I didn't even have to root it. The only other app that I use is a game that happens to crash every so often. And I think that's because of the advertisements built into it. The player itself doesn't come with an internet browser, so I believe that is what crashes the game - by not allowing the advertisement to reach a browser. It's not exactly a device that is only for the "faint of heart" but also for a normal user whom can casually use it also. There are some features that Marshmallow presents which I will probably try in the future. Additionally, maybe I'll even try to hook up a ps3 game controller to it rather than having to go and buy a whole new controller, and try a game app that requires it. I'm sure happy with it and it does a whole lot more than with the Amazon Fire Stick can do without customizing the heck out of it.

Have really enjoyed the increased convenience in being able to watch online things through the Nexus apps.

The remote stops to work (keeps flashing after pairing over and over), and if you contact Google, they refer you to ASUS which has terrible service. Spend a bit more and get Nvidia Shield instead.

Puts all of your phone on the TV. Its like using your phone on the TV. Great powerful device.

I love Android TV... On the Nvidia shield. The Nexus player is unstable and would regularly crash and disappear from the Chromecast lists but Shield has been rock solid and super useful.
