My Pixel's New Best Friend
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google Pixel phones have a new companion earbud set that delivers truly stellar audio. Initial setup with my Pixel 4 XL was simple and intuitive. The system-level app on my phone established a connection quickly and initiated a comprehensive control panel to control earbud functions. And while these earbuds are dialed-in to be supported in full by Google Pixel devices, they still function beautifully with non-Google Bluetooth 4.0+ devices. Note: there is a small button on the back of the holding/charging case that MUST be pressed to pair this device with non-Google Bluetooth devices - that is a simple step that was not immediately obvious to me during my initial testing - pairing with my Google Pixel resulted directly from opening the case. These earbuds have active noise cancellation technology - and to implement this, there needs to be some form of sound isolation. These earbuds are in-ear sealed inserts (as opposed to over-ear studio-style headphones). This set comes with three different size rubber inner-ear plugs and the Pixel app can tell if the seal is sufficiently formed for you to experience the full range of noise cancellation. And the noise cancellation, in practice, is outstanding here. With just a prolonged tap to the earbud, you can experience nearly every sound in your listening environment vanish from your awareness. Worth noting here that in the absence of nearly all ambient noise, you become more sensitive to digital artifacts that are introduced in the process of streaming music and its transmission via Bluetooth - in some quieter passages of music, you'll be aware of the limitations of current streaming/transmission technology, but that's not a criticism of this amazing set (just a warning). Once you are comfortable with the position of the earbuds in your ear, controlling devices is very simple (Pixel and non-Pixel alike) - volume up/down by swiping forward/back on the earbuds, track forward/back with taps, track start/stop, and mode of Active Noise Cancellation. Paired with my Pixel, I can answer/reject calls (with incredibly clear sound on calls!) and I can access Google assistant if I want. Both earbuds are touch-sensitive. All of that is nice. But it's ultimately the sound here that is the selling point and I think Google has really asserted some dominance here - surprisingly clean and clear bass, excellent clarity over a broad spectrum without ANYTHING sounding like it has been altered for effect, and these tiny buds sport a welcome dynamic range that can even handle the subtleties of classical music. As with most truly wireless earbuds with a case, this case serves as a supplemental charger - the buds can be depleted then charged again via the case without being connected to an external charge. The external charger here is a USB-C charger (the specifications state that the case can charged using a Qi-certified charger but my insanely cheap charger isn't having it). My only complaint so far involved updating the firmware (definitely something that required pairing with a Pixel phone!). This is a new product and I think you can expect frequent updates. My initial update explained that it might take up to 10 minutes to process - and implied that an interrupted download would simply resume where it left off - and both implications were wrong. My initial update took nearly two hours to succeed; my downloads failed consistently and were always restarted from the beginning. When I finally completed my update, I had access to a feature called Volume EQ where you can choose to have low-volume audio processed with an audio frequency curve that helps your hearing maintain a consistent experience of sound at reduced volume. Note - release materials suggest that additional updates are in the works including a spatial audio feature (in the fall?) that will improve immersive experiences when watching video content on Pixel phones. I love these earbuds. They are very comfortable and they give me an incredible experience on my Pixel and top-notch sound on my Bluetooth devices (specifically my beloved 6th generation Ipod Touch). Sound is, ultimately, the most important consideration on these devices and I wholeheartedly recommend these as contenders for the top of the heap.

Posted .Hi CB137, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the sound quality, fit and stability of Pixel Buds Pro fell short of meeting your expectations.
Your Pixel Buds are pre-attached with medium eartips and come with small and large ear tips so that you can improve your fit. Ears are unique so your left ear may be different from your right ear. Try different sizes for each ear to find the best fit. A tight seal gives you better sound, noise cancellation, and mic performance. If you are not getting the audio or call quality you expect, try bigger eartips. To swap eartips, pull the attached eartip off and press the other eartip onto the earbud until you feel a light snap. Gently pull on the eartip to ensure that it's properly attached. We recommend running the Eartip Seal Check feature to check the quality of your eartip seal and get the best possible sound. Here's how:
- On a Pixel phone with Android 10+: Go to your phone’s Settings > and then Connected devices > and then Settings.
- On other Android devices: Open the Google Pixel Buds app.
- Tap Eartip Seal Check.
If you’re not getting a perfect fit with our silicone eartips, memory foam eartips might be worth a try. Learn more about it here: https://store.google.com/us/product/premium_foam_tips_pixel_buds_pro

Hardware: Great, Software: Fantastic
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google made a great pair of earbuds to rival its closest competitor and delivered everything anyone could've asked for. Hardware: Starting with the case, it isn't anything brand new we haven't seen but it checks all the boxes. It is small, charged wirelessly, holds more than 20hrs of extra battery life, and can be located within the Google settings if you misplace them. The earbuds themselves have a tight fit creating a seal into the ear canal. This is for you to get the optimal amount of noise cancelation without having to crank up the volume to 100%. They are comfortable for about an hour and a half but I started getting some pain on my left ear around 1.5 hours in. Software: This is where Google differentiates itself from the competitors. It is by far the best experience I've had with a pair of earbuds. I am still on the Pixel 4 but connecting was a breeze. It instantly recognized my device and pairing took less than 5 seconds. The app itself is downloaded from the play store but lives inside the settings menu on Android. From there, you can change your touch settings that control volume, toggling between ambient mode and noise cancelation inputs, as well as check how good of an ear tip seal you have. You also have the ability to pair 2 devices to this headset in case you also have a laptop you want to pair them too which I did immediately when I noticed you can do this. Another interesting software feature is called Volume EQ which balances your bass, mids, and highs regardless of what volume you decide to listen to so that you get an all around balanced experience. It is no longer uncomfortable to listen to music at 100% volume in a loud environment. The sound is still great with no crazy distortion and uncomfortable sharpness. Sound Experience: I have no complaints about the sound signature. Everything sounds great from all genres of music as well as watching movies and taking calls. The bass isn't obnoxious and the music sounds as intended. Noise cancelation works fantasticly. You can completely isolate yourself from the outside world and just escape for a bit. This is some of the best noise cancelation tech I have experienced. Ambient mode is also really insanely good. However they do it, it is amazing. I can have a conversation with someone while still listening to music. The only caveat is that you'd have to be listening at less than 50% volume for this to really function and have a conversation. Anything above that it was still useful when I was walking my dog and I needed to listen for cars when crossing the street or even cyclist trying to pass. Overall, Google made an awesome pair of earbuds with this pro version. I am not going back to anything else anytime soon for everyday casual listening. I will say though that I will stick to dedicated workout earbuds for exercise only because I sweat a lot. Google does claim to have IPX4 rating on these but I'd rather not risk the damage.

A Huge Improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After owning all the Pixel buds that have been released I have to say the Google has actually nailed it this time. While not perfect, these are still some of the best. One of the major gripes I had with previous Pixel buds had to do with connection issues. They would often lost connection and that would be really annoying. While they got better over time they never really managed to fix that issue until now. The new Buds Pro have a great connection and I've not really had any issues regarding connection. I can walk 20-30 feet away and still have a strong sound coming from these. So if you had any of the previous Pixel Buds before and worried about the dreaded connection issues then worry no more, that issue is fixed. When it comes to sound on these I'm happy to say this is also an area that Google has upgraded and made this stand with the rest in this price point. With good lows, clear highs and mids these hit the mark when it comes to being a versatile pair of buds being able to offer quality sound across a wide range of genres, Sound quality is well above average and on a par with others. The noise canceling is good, Google use custom six-core audio chip to power the ANC and its really does a good job, better than previous version but still not as good as some others, but still a significant upgrade over the previous versions. Transparency mode is ok. It what I would say is the weakest feature on the Pixel Buds Pro, but they do the job, just not as well as others in this department. Comfort is purely down to the user, I have no issues with the Buds Pro, they don't give me ear fatigue or discomfort. The Pixel Pro Buds do have onboard controls: tap once to play / pause, twice to skip tracks, three times to go back. Press and hold to switch between ANC and transparency, and this gesture can be customized to activate Google Assistant as well. You can also swipe for volume adjustment like on previous buds. Battery on these is as advertised with getting around 7 hours with ANC on and 11 with ANC off which is up there with some of the best. IPX4 is a little low for my liking but the will be fine to workout in as they will be sweat proof. The case is only IPX2 which isn't great at all but should be ok for pulling the case out in a slight shower to put the buds back in or pull out to use, but don't expect any real water resistance. Overall these are the best buds that google has produced. The nightmare connection issues are a thing of the past, the new multipoint connection works great, good ANC and good battery life makes these quite easy to recommend

Big sound in a small package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Google Pixel 6 that I have mainly tested these earbuds with. The out of box experience was incredibly simple, as my phone detected them as soon as I open their case and I was able to use them right away. There is an Android app for other devices, but the settings and controls are built into my phone. I have tested a few earbuds over the years and they each have their strengths and weaknesses. The Pixel Buds Pro are my first foray into this product line, and honestly, I have a yet to find a weakness in them. I have tried them out for video meetings with my voice being heard quite clearly by others. I have tried them on another Android phone and found that there isn’t really a difference in sound quality if you are able to turn on the Auto EQ function in the app or phone settings. With that said, I started with my benchmark test track, “So What” by Miles Davis on the “Kind of Blue” album. The 3d sound presence is amazing and I could hear details throughout the entire frequency range that are muffled, muddied, or overwhelmed in other earbuds. I then tried listening to some dubstep tracks to try and get that deep bass. Again, I was not disappointed. I sat there questioning whether earbuds could produce the levels of bass I was hearing. Any music I have tried listening to has been a joy to my ears. I don’t normally say this in my reviews, but I will in this one. These are now my favorite earbuds. Besides the stellar sound quality from the Pixel Buds Pro, are its noise cancelling capabilities. With ANC set to full, very little sound gets through from around you, but it’s not enough to miss environmental cues from around you. There is an ambient ANC mode that lets you hear more sound and even speech around you. If I was forced to listen to music all day long, these are what would be in my ears. They are objectively better than many headphones I have used, even those with noise cancelling functionality. I really feel Google nailed it with the Pixel Buds Pro and I have yet to listen to music track that doesn’t sound amazing with these.

Great earbuds, wonderful noise cancelling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Pixel Buds Pro earbuds are a worthy competitor in the very competitive wireless earbuds offerings. After using them for several days I'm very impressed. The earbuds come attractively packaged in a compact box which I appreciated (I really don't like bulky packages that waste space). One nice touch is that the silicone tips come packaged in a little cardboard "pill case" instead of just a little plastic bag. This keeps the tips from deforming, although that isn't a large concern. I need to use large tips and they fit well, although the silicone tips feel a little slippery and I wish they gripped a little better. The earbuds come in a stylish, pocket friendly charging case that has a USB-C port. It did not come with a USB-C cable, which at this price point I would have expected. One thing that surprised me is that the case is capable of wireless charging, but the charger will need to be a flat charger rather than an upright charger like that for phones. The earbuds came fully charged. While I think it's possible to pair the earbuds without using the Pixel Buds app, I used the app to setup everything up. This included a firmware update which took about 5min, and initial setup. Bluetooth pairing was effortless and just worked. I paired them with my Android phone, Windows 11 laptop and Windows 11 desktop PC without issues. The noise cancelling feature is awesome! I'm shocked at how well it works. I sometimes work in environments with moderate background noise and the earbuds filtered that out very well. I even wore them while mowing the lawn and the noise cancelling really helped reduce the mower noise. Sound quality is excellent. I tested with streaming music, streaming movies, and local music from my phone and everything sounded great.

Headphone for solace
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Alright, so the Buds Pro really kick it up a notch with their noise-cancelling game. Whether I'm chilling in the park, surviving my commute, or trying to block out the chaos of office life, these buds have got me covered. And let's talk about the transparency mode – genius move. I can jam to my tunes and still catch bike bells, office rumors, and announcements. Now, here's the deal – the battery life is solid, but it taps out around half a day. So, you'll find yourself popping them back into the case for a recharge. Despite this little hiccup, if you're all about drowning out the world or subtly tuning into it, the Buds Pro are a slick choice for top-notch noise cancellation and a versatile audio experience.

Long battery life, great sound quality, ify ANC.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality on these is really good. While listening to some of my favorite songs I was surprised to hear notes and instruments that I never noticed listening on my speakers. The bass response is decent, nice and clear, without being boomy. A few certain notes do distort though, and some notes just don't even try to play, but I kind of expected that as very few headphones can play the super low notes and even some full sized drivers don't play the sub bass frequency very well when the bass really drops low. The highs are beautiful, like sparkling bells, very articulate and well defined. I'd give the sound quality a solid 7 or 8 out of 10. The noise canceling on the other hand doesn't seem to work very well at all. When I put the buds in my ears I can hear a hiss, that turns out is from the HVAC system, which in real life is so quiet it's pretty much un noticeable. However when I put the headphones in it jumps out of the background and is very noticeable. But if I hit the noise canceling feature the hiss goes away... kind of odd that it's able to cleanly cut out a noise that isn't normally noticed unless wearing the headphones, almost like they amplify the noise when not actively canceling it. That would be cool if it also cut all the rest of the background noises as well, but they only seem to be able to cancel the HVAC fan noise, as I could still hear everyone in the room, all the paper shuffling, the printer, the phones ringing, doors opening and closing etc.. pretty close to the same loudness with or without the noise canceling. I COULD hear myself talking better with the noise canceling turned off, but still not as well as just simply removing one ear piece. 1 other issue I experienced is that when I do leave the earpieces in my ears and I try to talk to someone, the sound of myself talking in the earpiece distorts and breaks up, I have a deep voice, and the pass through on the Buds just can't handle it and end up sounding like an old blown out car speaker. Hopefully it works better for others with less bassy voices. I also had an issue with them playing in my pocket if I took them out but put them in my pocket instead of in the included case, sometimes I'd walk into a quiet area only to hear music quietly playing from my pants... I know I had paused my music before I took them out, so somehow they will activate themselves if bumped around together.

Posted .Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your feedback with us, and we’re glad that you find the sound quality of the Pixel Buds Pro good. But are sorry to learn that you’re having issues with the performance and other features.
Google Pixel Buds Pro create a quiet foundation so your music can shine. Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Sea adapts to your unique ear shape, and the earbuds fit in your ear canal to maximize the amount of noise blocked. Rather than using an off-the-shelf solution, Pixel Buds Pro’s Active Noise Cancellation uses an integrated system developed by Google, with a custom processor, custom algorithms, and custom speakers. You can use Transparency mode for the moments when you don’t want to be fully immersed, like when running or crossing streets. Pixel Buds Pro process a wide range of frequencies with low latency to keep the audio sounding natural and in sync. This custom integration lets sound enter in real time, so you can keep on moving almost as if you weren’t wearing earbuds.
Also, Volume EQ, dynamically adapting to your listening volume and making subtle tweaks to the frequency curve. For example, when you lower the volume, Pixel Buds Pro increase the bass while ensuring mid and high frequencies are balanced. Later this year, Pixel Buds Pro also support spatial audio to put you in the middle of the action when watching a movie or TV show with a compatible device and supported content.

Very happy with this purchase, very worth it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is amazing. The case is big enough to not lose often, but small enough to carry in a purse or pocket. The battery life, depending on how you use the earbuds, can last over a week, at the most. They are fast to connect and do not give you any discomfort or pain in your ears.

Amazing Earbuds
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pixel bud pro earbuds are amazing. The noise cancelling on these are amazing but the coolest feature is the transparency mode. Transparency mode helps reduce the feeling of plugged ears.
