Middling noise cancellation and muddy sound are the second and third things that came to mind when I first heard these. The first was 'I think I tore my ear'. These are very thick for something that's supposed to go in a human ear (and I'm a large dude with ample ear hole width). I'm hoping my ears will get used to the feeling of having a thumb jammed in them, as I've found no way to situate them comfortably in my ears. I'm going to try to give these a chance to change my mind, but right now I'm leaning towards returning.
One big annoyance I'm running into is the buds sound different every time I put them in. Sometimes the noise cancellation works great, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you can't turn it off. Tapping the earbud once pauses music, if the earbuds find you worthy. Otherwise you just stand there tapping your ear and looking foolish. I don't like looking foolish. It makes me worry my wife will discover what a dork I am.

Hello there, LilMutombo. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Pixel Buds Pro. We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble with some features along with their comfort and fit.
We recommend trying out all 3 ear tip sizes for each ear to find the most comfortable tip for you. Your Pixel Buds are pre-attached with medium eartips and come with small and large ear tips so that you can improve your fit. Ears are unique so your left ear may be different from your right ear. A tight seal gives you better sound and mic performance. If you are not getting the audio or call quality you expect, try smaller eartips. To swap eartips, pull the attached ear tip off and press the other ear tip onto the earbud until you feel a light snap. Gently pull on the eartip to ensure that it's properly attached.
