Great sound and excellent mike isolation. People on the other think I'm still speaking with the phone next to face and can't tell I'm on wireless earphones.

I have never had connection issue, but I do have a Google Pixel. However, I do think they are uncomfortable and usually makes my ear sore after a few hours.

Google did a great job with these Pixel Buds. They are just the perfect ear buds for everyday use. They are too small but packed with technologies and sensors... With the small size, they still have a very adequate battery life. Streaming for hours without issues. Android OS users will really love them! Working perfectly fine with all Google devices (and Android OS devices) switching from one device to another without any issues and with very short delay. First time use was easy and straight forward. I initiated them using a pixel phone (4a) the app is native in Pixel Phones. A lot of features and functions and too many useful shortcuts for very small device and touch area. I just had some time to learn all the shortcuts. You can use one or both earbuds. They are completely functional either way. They fit nice in the ear and very stable thanks to the special design. The are water resist! I'd not swim with them though but that's good so I can safely clean them.
Sound quality is special indeed. The sound coming out feels like coming from far and not directly in the ear. Unlike some cheap earbuds... The app is very useful adjusting the sound quality and the Bass. The Pixel Buds have also noise adaptation feature. Very good to have but it is a bit aggressive (to my taste). I used them for watching movies and making/receiving phone calls. The voice quality is perfect. People on the other side hear me very clear and loud.
Back to the gestures: Very effective! Notifications are announced clearly! Very good if you can't look to your phone screen! You won't miss anything. Google assistance also available and very helpful. Google made it possible to activate or deactivate these features by using the app. This would limit accidental touches.
Google also has a nice feature with those Earbuds allowing you to share one with another person. The good side of this sharing is the individual sound level setup. Good for listening to music together and also for phone calls. Like simple conference but private! Good to have!
One of the very nice features is the Google Translate integration. Very helpful communicating with people speaking in another language. I tried Spanish. With more practice, you can get used to it!
Battery life is very good. Used them for very long time without need to charge (the whole day with swapping right and left) never had issues! I like the wireless charging feature. It works with all wireless chargers I have even the vertical ones. For verticals I had to put the enclosure upside down. It charges fast. Can't complain!
Who will need those? They are very good for daily use and just for all kind of applications. The enclosure is too small to carry and easy to clean. They are fit and light to be used for extended time period.
I like them and I recommend them. They became my daily use earbuds. Enjoying switching them between my phones and pixel book.

This review is being written pre any firmware updates that Google has promised to the Buds 2...
How this product passed Google's internal QA process and made it to a public release is beyond other owners and myself. The below issues have rendered the Pixel Buds 2 almost completely useless:
1. Constant audio hissing sound when in ears
2. Dropping calls randomly
3. Audio cutting out when exercising
The most aggravating issue is the constant audio dropping out during a workout (was there any QA done here???). If the Buds are being worn at a desk or around your house, no issues, but if they are being worn outside and your head moves from side to side or up and down, the audio connection drops, constantly!
This support thread indicates that Google will be updating firmware patches to fix these issues, but I'm not trusting the validity of their word after releasing a product as poor as this: https://support.google.com/googlepixelbuds/thread/43794726?hl=en
Feeling like an Alpha product tester, but as their customer. Google should be paying me to test their product in real world environments.

The sound goes in and out even when I'm sitting in front of my laptop unmoving. Absolute garbage. And after reading things online I've seen a ton of people have the same problem. And of course, I am past the time I can return these. At this price point, I cannot believe how bad they are.

The connectivity cuts in and out. Constantly. Especially if you are outside. Google acknowledges the problem, and says it will be fixed in the next generation! So why buy these?!?
The translation feature doesn’t work if you are an iPhone user.

Excellent Android Buds; Air Pods still better

I really like the new Pixel Buds. I can't say how they compare to the previous version as I never had them, but I read that these are a huge upgrade. Compared to Apple Air Pods, though, there is still a good separation in terms of design. I don't know what it is, but the Aid Pods just feel like a superior product. Don't get me wrong, the Pixel Buds are an amazing product, just I still prefer the Air Pods.
There are two major design choices that make me like the Air Pods. First is the super easy setup with iPhone. You just open them close to the phone and they pair. Android still uses Bluetooth which requires some input, albeit marginal amounts (although still more than the iPhone). Moreover, iPhones already have the software implemented to control and monitor the Air Pods. No software to download to measure battery life among other things. Pixel Buds on the other hand require a software download (which is strange to me considering the buds are a Google product and the phone OS is a Google product). The software is really nice and VERY useful, but if you want to compare ease of use for a BFU (brain free user), Air Pods are far and away the winner here.
Second is the buds themselves. My ears are just super...special (don't we all think we are special? haha!). I am just not a huge fan of the rubber doughnut plug style of yesteryear. The AirPods, like the original iPhone wired buds, are just a superior design that is more comfortable for my ear. Of course, the Air Pods pro have this doughnut design, but I don't have the pros, just the basic one's. So I'm comparing it to that. I just find the Air Pods more friendly to my ear.
Now, of course, if you want to compare Pixel Buds to Air Pods strictly on an Android environment, the first aforementioned issue goes way in favor of the Pixel Buds, as Air Pods weren't really designed for Android. I’m just looking at Pixel on Android vs Air Pods on iPhone when making the comparison above.
As far as looking at the Pixel Buds on their own, when compared to other Android-designed wireless buds, the Pixel Buds really are the best out there. They are lightweight and not too bulky as compared to many other manufacturers. The carrying/charging case is right on par with the Apple case (which set the standard). The functionality is top notch by comparison, albeit annoying (I just can’t get used to gestures on my ear, sorry. I still prefer interacting with the phone). Its like these features were put in as a novelty to say “look at what these do!”. Since you are unable to see what you are doing on the side of your head (without a mirror) you have no idea if your hand is close to the bud or not. I found myself tapping the bud to find it which of course enables the play/pause or skip features. Or, if I find myself feeling around, I enable the swiping gesture making the volume louder or softer. Disabling the gestures is preferred here, making the “features” just a nice selling point and a novelty. The best part of the Pixel Buds is that the charging mechanism is USB C (huzzah!!!!!). I really don’t understand how other major manufacturers can STILL release products that charge via micro USB in 2020. Get with the times!
Functionally, everything works, but I can’t say I could get the music-stop-when-removed-from-ear functionality to work well (side note: this feature is only enabled via the Pixel Buds app). The music just kept playing regardless of what I did. Oh well.
Sound quality is what it is. The impedance of all these Bluetooth based buds isn’t going to be high, so you aren’t going to get the BEST experience out there, but that doesn’t mean they are terrible. I just know what to expect. They are good.
I definitely recommend them if you are looking for a set of Android-based buds that are akin to the Air Pods. You won’t find a better product in this category. I only gave it 4 stars because I still think that the Air Pods are a superior product at the end of the day, and these were designed to be Air Pod copy cats to put it bluntly. At $180, you might as well buy the Air Pods v2 at $130 in my opinion. Heck, the Air Pod Pros routinely fall under $200 at this point.

Lots of issues.
Randomly one of the buds keeps disconnecting.
Left and right out of sync.
Randomly one of the bud will become really low volume.
You have to turn off all the features to be able to use it for a few hours without issues.

So I finally got these earbuds in order to replace my samsung buds. No luck after a somewhat easy bluetooth sync the earbuds keep slightly disconnecting about every minute or so. I have checked online and it is a known issue. Ive tried factory resetting them to removing the right earbud first. No luck. After update still the same issue. Horrible! Please fix it.

These do not work. I'm using a Pixel 4 which is just a couple years old, but the phone will connect then disconnect whenever I try to play anything. This product has been out for a few years now, I would have hoped Google would be capable of working out the bugs.

This is my 2nd pair. The first one just would not pair and the second one the right bud does not pair. I have worked for Geek Squad a while back so I can assure you that I have done all the troubleshooting steps recommended on the Google support site, Google answer forums, and other tech forums.
Horrible product quality control. You can't purchase two of these back to back and have both of them be defective.
Let's be honest here, the sound quality is probably not the greatest at this price point. What you're paying for is suppsedly the seamless compatibility with *certain* versions of android and touch controls.
I can tell you that even reading reviews, there are A LOT of people having issues with controls, connection quality, disconnects, and Google assistant malfunctions. Save yourself the trouble and go look for something else. Go for something with better sound quality if you don't really care about Google assistant features.

I am blown away by Google's Pixel Buds. I have tried several brands in search of the best in-ear product for me but hadn't found them - until now!
The product has the best fit-and-finish of anything I have seen. There is a satisfying heft and shape to the storage/charging case. The hinge feels extremely robust and clicks shut securely. A very important feature when you are carrying them in your pocket. The earbuds themselves snuggle securely into their sockets and are secured magnetically. There are indicator lights both inside and outside the case to indicate charging status. Speaking of charging - you charge the case with a USB-C connection and the case keeps the buds charged.
Google has finally cracked the code with getting the earbuds to fit snugly into your ears. A clever combination of optional ear-tips and a "wing" that you can rotate into the cleft of you ear offers the most comfortable and secure fit I have experienced.
This was the most seamless and easiest Bluetooth pairing I have seen from an app. Granted I was pairing to my PixelXL phone but the experience was utterly flawless. Other vendors need to take a page from Google on this one.
The app is clean and provides all of the status and control I could want (except possibly for providing some equalizer capability) and also keeps the firmware up to date automatically.
The earbuds have no buttons, you control the functions by tapping or swiping and were extremely easy to use. On occasion I do mistime a gesture and inadvertently pause a stream while adjusting the volume but I am getting better with practice.
The sound quality? Very good. Although these earbuds do not offer ANC the snug fit offsets the need for it in my experience. The app does provide an optional feature that conservatively adjusts the volume to accommodate for external noise but I mostly leave it disabled. One option that I do engage is a bass boost that I feel elevates the listening experience a notch. Sound quality is rich and engaging and the earbuds are comfortable for extended listening sessions.
Call handling is simple via touch controls and the built in microphones do an excellent job with your voice.
The personal assistant integration and the notifications options all worked well and add a welcome level of interaction.
In summary - the Pixel Buds are the product I have been waiting for and I highly recommend that you take a look!
