These are pretty good wireless headphones. Setup is quick and easy, even with non-Android devices. They stay in my ears pretty well and the sound quality, especially with bass boost is really good. They also work really well for making and receiving calls. The battery life is fairly decent too.

Excellent earbuds, but a little too "gimicky"

Don't get me wrong, these headphones check the main boxes for true wireless headphones: -Sound quality is really good -The fit is good and they are very comfortable I would rate these 4.8 stars and would recommend them based on just those two things because honestly anything beyond that is not really necessary for a pair of ear buds, but are possibly welcome as "bonus" features. Now, one thing that I feel is necessary and is the one checkbox that these Pixel buds do not check (and thus the lower rating) is having a physical button of any kind. And this leads me to the "gimmicky" part. The controls on the ear buds themselves are entirely touch based. They have released an update that now allows you to turn off the touch controls, however that leaves the only way to control things like volume, play/pause, skip, answering calls, etc. is by using your phone. In my opinion not having any physical button is a huge oversight in the name of "coolness". Reason being, not everyone is the same, but trying to swipe your ear bud to raise of lower volume, or tap it, etc. can cause them to loosen and just be cumbersome and inaccurate.I've raised and lowered the volume when trying to pause a video, for example. I personally leave the touch controls on though because I do not want to have to pull my phone out of my pocket to change the volume, pause, etc. Also under "gimmicky" I would put the live transcribe feature for Google Translate. I'm sure it's probably a very useful feature, and I'd love to try it, but currently it will only live transcribe through the Pixel buds FROM English to 4 or 5 languages (Spanish, French, etc.). That is correct, and I thoroughly investigated if this was the case, and it is. With English being the most spoken language on the planet and the small fact that Google is based and was founded in the US, I'm not sure why they chose to not release this feature with translations to English instead of from English. Hopefully that's added soon though, so I digress. FIT: The ear buds come with 3 different size earhole adapters (I'm sure that's probably not the official name of the rubbery things that go into your ear). Is that enough? I can't say, but the middle size work for me and I'd imagine most people will be able to find a good fit with one of the three options. Once they are in, they do not come out. And it's not because of they have a really tight fit. I think it's mostly because of the little extension piece that helps grip the folds in your ear and the fact that they're light weight. Things like talking, chewing, headbanging to Metallica... do not loosen them up or send them flying from your ears. The fact that they're so light is probably also why they are so comfortable. I have honestly forgotten I had them in when sitting in a quiet environment. I can where these all day until the battery dies with no discomfort and my ears have gotten pretty sore in the past with other buds. SOUND QUALITY: These things really sound good. I've listened to all types of music, vidoes, 8D, etc. audio, 3D binaural audio (highly recommend checking some of these out on YouTube). Everything is crystal clear. I even hear sounds sometimes that I haven't heard before in songs I've listened too lots of times or sounds I think are coming from real life, but they are actually coming from whatever I'm listening too. The fact that these are so light, comfortable, and are barely noticeable that they are in your ear can make these experiences surreal. Bass response is excellent. The most recent update added and option to enhance the bass and it makes a difference. Running some online audio tests these earbuds will reproduce bass frequencies down to 20Hz (the lower limit of human hearing) and the bass is clean and clear - no distortion or rattling. On the other end of the spectrum, the sound did clip at 15,000Hz which is a little shy of the 20,000Hz upper limit of human hearing, but that could be due to my own hearing. OTHER: Some other features are included (you can find them in the product description) and are useful and work well, such as notifications and the ability to have Google Assistant read them to you. I've found this to be very useful and easy to use. When the touch interface works correctly, the Assistant is very responsive. They include in ear detection as other buds do and pause audio when one is removed from your ear *though there is about a 1.5 second delay) and resume audio once it's back in your ear. There's now a "Locate My Device" option as well which could be helpful with such small earbuds. There are a few other features they have and I'm sure Google will probably have more "Feature Drops" in the future, so I would definitely recommend these despite the absence of a physical button.

    Overpriced for the Quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had these since they came out, and they're disappointing. What I don't like: -First, they were skipping, which, to Google's credit, they did eventually fix through updates. -These are comfortable, but as you wear them, you do need to keep pushing them back in if you're talking on the phone or eating, as it loosens the fit. -This one is most important for me - the call quality is horrible outdoors. By that I mean how other people hear me. It picks up lots of noise (indoors as well), and people are always telling me they can't hear clearly. -If you don't bring the case with you (say, on a bike ride), and the buds disconnect from your phone, you can't reconnect without the case, which I find really annoying. Things I like: -They look great (orange). -They are comfortable. -Audio sounds good -Integration with google assistant is great and one reason I really wanted these; I have many Google speakers around the house, and when you're wearing these and say "Hey Google", only the buds will do what you say, so you don't have to worry about the other devices listening. -Touch controls. All in all, these are decent, but for the price, they should be much better. Go with something else.

You don't need to be a Pixel phone user to appreciate how great these earbuds are! Its small size is deceiving. They fit very comfortably in the ear and produce clear, crisp audio comparable to the best headphones. Set up is a breeze. Press the "Pair" button on the case and put your connected device in pairing mode and you're done! I easily connected my Android phone, iPad and iPod touch and they connected flawlessly. Want to increase/lower the volume? Just swipe one of the buds on its touch-sensitive earbud. Its that easy! My only complaint is that I wish Google would have included a more detailed manual than the single sheet included. Of course, for more info you can always go online to Google's site. If you've been looking for a quality earbud set with absolutely fabulous sound, look no further than these Google Pixel Buds!

These earbuds are great. The sound was good in my opinion, the Google assistant is awesome to use, battery life was good for my useage habits, and I never experienced any connectivity issues like many had. They fit my ear, however they did occasionally get uncomfortable with the stem in the back. But that is not my issue with the buds. My issue is whatever metal (probably Nickel) or rubber they used, as I seem to get an allergic reaction in my ears after wearing these for a couple of hours. I wanted to write this review to warn people who may have a nickel (or possible rubber) allergy that they should skip these earbuds.

It doesn't make sense to mention all of the advertised features, which seems to work as advertised. It's the fringe features that set the Gen 1 version of the Buds apart, and they set the Gen 2 apart as well. One of the nice things about buds is that once you've paired them with multiple devices, you don't need to enter pairing mode to reconnect. If I'm listening to my phone, and sit down in front of my computer, I can just click "Connect" on my computer and the buds will switch. And, when I walk away, I just select "Connect" on my phone without having to put my buds in pairing mode to reconnect to my phone. This has not been my experience with other bluetooth earbuds. Having said that, my Pixel 3a will sometimes wrestle with my Mac for control, and I won't be able to stay connected to my computer for longer than a few seconds before my phone wrests the connection to itself. Another fantastic feature is, if you only have a single bud in your ear, stereo will be interleaved so you're not missing any streams. And when you pull the second bud out and out it in your ear, stereo is separated again. And a single bud works sufficiently well for calls. So if you have several hours of calls lined up for the day, you can keep one bud charging, and hot swap when the battery in the other gets low. But sometimes the buds just... forget about one of the earpieces, and you can never get any device to stream to both buds. Only a reset might fix this, and forgetting the buds on all of your devices, but there's no guarantee after a reset the buds will be discoverable. For me, this always fixes itself within a few hours. But who knows? As I write this review, I wonder if my buds will ever connect to anything again (my annoyance in the impetus for writing this review). Google Support is helpful to get you to limping, and they'll even allow you to follow up for a day or two if the problem reappears. But, here I am, with what seems to be a product that doesn't work as a reasonable person would expect. And finally, there's a huge delay in the audio when watching media on your computer (I have a Mac). I read it has to do with the lack of support Google has for the AptX codec. I don't know what this means. All I know is I'm watching a movie, and hear the dialogue maybe two seconds late. So the buds aren't perfect for watching comedies, horrors, thrillers, etc. But music, podcasts, and audiobooks are just great.

I really like these. I think they deliver good sound and feel comfortable in the ear. The battery life is good. However, they only work ~75% of the time. I have a Pixel 3 phone, which I would assume should work well with these. The earbuds occasionally drop connection between the two earbuds if I turn my head. In addition, there has been many times where I have had to take the earbuds out from my ear and replace in the case in order to get them to work as expected. I would not buy these again.

The buds are relatively comfortable, however I still have not found the best tips for my ear (comes with S/M/L). They tend to feel loose & have the sensation they are falling out. Overall sound quality is good & phone calls are clear on both sides. The battery life isn't great, however the case itself recharges quickly & recharges the buds just as quick. I also experience the low hissing sound. I had to turn off in-ear detection because one ear bud would turn off. Honestly this feels like a beta product due to all the flaws. I really wanted to love this product but now I'm stuck regretting this near $200 purchase.

    Very Poor Connection

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These are not very good and for the price, I'd look elsewhere. The way the buds cradle the ear they seem to have fit issues with my ears. I have tried different combinations of the different size earpieces, but nothing works because its the back wing that doesn't do a good job of securing the buds in your ears. They do not stay put as well as other earbuds or even the AirPods. If you exercise or like to listen to music/watch YouTube videos while you eat, expect these to fall out or move around. Which leads to the major problem with this design. When the buds move at all and the metal on the inside of the buds lose contact with your skin the buds pause your content or cut out in one or both ears. If you are not perfectly still or using them under ideal conditions these buds constantly drop sounds in one ear as you lose connection. I have had all types of connection problems with these that should not occur with a flagship pair of headphones. On top of this, I don't know what's going on with Google's software but it happens so often that I lose connection with my phone (Pixel 3 XL), re-seat the earbud, and then tap on the bud to start my music again -- and somehow it starts playing a podcast (I don't even have my podcast app open!) or it starts playing out of my phones speakers instead of the headphones (which is really jarring in a quiet office or on an airplane). There are some really bad software glitches with these earbuds and the Pixel 3 XL. What the buds do well, it does really well, which is why I at least give it 2 stars. The Google Assistant functionality and the translate features are really fun, and I enjoy them when I'm in my lab and have gloves on and can't open my phone to start timers or set alarms. But I'm afraid all of the imperfections and compromises these buds contain make them not worth the money. There are better true wireless headphones out there.

So sad after long wait for Quite mint!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I hopped onto the earbud waitlist for the quite mint a few months back and finally got the email yesterday that they were ready to order! I got them today (next day) which is awesome! The pairing was incredibly easy as I have a pixel phone and the earbuds were detected upon first opening them. Loved that! I used google translate with them as well and it worked great! I love the color, I love the fit and I love the touch abilities that they have. HOWEVER, I have to give one star because I paid $179 for a pair of earbuds that are consistently cutting out about once a minute which began immediately upon first use. I contacted google support and after unpairing, uninstalling, updating and resetting the earbuds this connectivity issue continued. I was hoping I would be one of the lucky people I've read reviews from that didn't have this issue, but unfortunately not, I am one of the unlucky. Google support is reaching out to me with a possible solution now that I have gone through steps to fix it with a support person via chat and I will update review if everything is fixed, but at this point, I'll be returning them and going with a different companies wireless earbuds. $179 is too much for earbuds that cut out once per minute... Really, $25 is too much for that...

App Won't Install; Customer Support No Help

The app that goes with these buds won't install on my Samsung android 10 phone. The requirements say it's compatible with android 6+ but clearly it's not. I spent two hours on the phone with a customer support specialist who was not able to help me get the app installed. He referred my case to a "Senior" support technician and told me they would get back to me with a resolution. Four days later I haven't heard back from them. The app is obviously not compatible with all android phones as I searched the issue online and found other android users with the same problem. The buds themselves work but without the app the buds operate on default settings and none of the features like equalizer, bass boost, or adaptive sound can be utilized. The sound from the buds themselves is very good even in the default setting but google needs to get the app problem fixed. Right now they're ignoring it. I don't recommend these to anybody unless you have a pixel phone and even then, if they can't get their app to work with their own android system, maybe they can't get the app to work in their pixel phones either. It was a totally frustrating experience trying to get the app - the message is the phone is not compatible. Installed all the updates, installed & updated google assistant, reset the buds, nothing enables the app to be installed.

Unable to connect two devices at the same time

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted to give this 5 stars but when I compare these to other earbuds that are similar or less in cost - they just don't hold up. Most importantly - it's a real bummer that these do not have multipoint connection capability. Meaning, you cannot connect to more than one device at the same time. If I'm working on my pc and using the earbuds through my pc (for Zoom, webinar, etc.) and then I get a phone call, I cannot hear the phone or answer the phone. Likewise, if I'm using the earbuds through the phone, I must change the Bluetooth connection to my pc to take a zoom meeting etc., and then remember to switch the connection back to my phone so I don't miss a phone call. REALLY! Once you've used a pair that has this multipoint connection and appreciate this seamless transition between two devices (Jabra 75t), it's difficult to understand why Google were too cheap to include this feature. However, I'll be keeping the pixel buds because my work requirements to switch between devices are only a few times a day. Although, I grimace a little inside each time I have to switch. Also, the pixel buds are the most comfortable for my ears and even stay put comfortably when I'm exercising.

Superb choice for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 owners!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Not sure what phones most reviewers have been using for their reviews, but I give the these new Pixel Buds 5 stars WHEN paired with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10. The biggest, most frequent CON I see associated with the Pixel Buds 2 is lackluster [music] audio quality. - Well, despite Google not providing a Pixel Buds app, using the built-in EQ on my Galaxy Note 10 and configuring it to the way I like to listen to my music (strong, clear bass and bright mids and highs), my Pixel Buds 2 are now thumpin' just as hard and clear as Powerbeats Pro! I'm a musician and listen to a very broad spectrum of music genres, and given the right EQ settings on my Galaxy Note 10 for each genre, I'd put the audio quality of my Pixel Buds 2 paired with a Galaxy Note 10 up against any other wireless buds currently on the market! The other frequent CONS are battery life and unequal battery drain; I've found the following: - I only get about 5 hours even if I'm not listening to music or using the phone, BUT that's because the Google Assistant mic is ALWAYS ON and listening for that "Hey Google" phrase. Turning the "Hey Google" option OFF (until you need/want it) in the Pixel Buds app, not only causes the battery drain to be almost exactly equal between the left and right buds but also significantly increases battery life! And lastly, as for the translate feature, again, on my Galaxy Note 10, it has worked flawlessly! I've had my buds now for about two weeks and have really put them through the paces; I've used the translate feature with my Spanish, Vietnamese, and Russian friends/colleagues and have gotten praise from all for it's relative accuracy in translation and total exuberance from me, getting to hear their responses in their native language translated to English in my ears!
