This phone was an upgrade for my wife's Samsung. Really impressed by the lack of "bloat-ware" apps. Very clean OS. Moving data from old phone was a snap. Reception is good - better then my iPhone 7. Really happy with the Pixel XL so far!

    Good Hardware, Fantastic Software

The Pixel is the first time that Google has tried to create it's own phone rather than just providing the software. And, frankly, it shows. The hardware on this phone is a bit of a mixed bag that I'd say overall is rather average as flagships go. But that doesn't particularly matter - it's the software that sets this thing apart from every other Android device I've used. If you've never had a chance to try stock Android, you probably have no idea just how much faster it is than the modified versions that phone manufacturers tend to use. And the Pixel, running the latest version of Nougat (yet to be released anywhere else) is a step above that already high bar. The phone is amazingly responsive and quick to work, not to mention a lot more stable than most. It's also got some really impressive optimizations when it comes to power. The battery isn't particularly big by modern standards, but you'd never know that from how long it lasts. Even after a full day of use, it still had 40% power left when I got home. Adding to this performance is the rather hefty fast charger, that can very quickly top you up and uses the latest USB-C standard. The build quality is also excellent. It just feels good in your hand - owing to a very subtle taper to the design and careful machining on the aluminum body. There are no gaps or issues with balance. And the antennas are perhaps the most comprehensive I've ever seen on a phone - making it possible for you to use this thing on pretty much anything you want anywhere in the world barring a few exceptions. That alone might make this worth picking up if you frequently travel out of the country. If you're looking at the cameras, I think you will also be pleasantly surprised. The camera is amazingly sharp for only being 12MP - in fact it's much better than the 16MP cameras I've seen on the market. The autofocus is instant, the color balance pretty decent under most light, and it supports a wide range of specialized features such as slow motion, photospheres, and filters. That said, there are a few lingering issues that keep me from giving this phone full marks. Biggest is the fact that Google has neglected to include any options for removable storage, opting instead for a cloud based solution that will offload videos and photos. That's fine in theory, but if you're going to be spending a lot of time away from WiFi it could chip into your data plan pretty quickly. Also, it seems to me that this misses the fact that most android users end up eating up more space with apps than they do media, and there's no way to move those into cloud storage. With Android having so many options for expandable storage, the lack of a microSD slot seems to be a glaring omission. Another issue I noticed is heat. Under most circumstances, the phone's quad core processor runs in low power mode. And when that happens, it's actually very cool. But if you start taxing it, the metal body begins pumping heat straight into your hand at a rather startling rate. It quickly became uncomfortable when I was transferring large amounts of data, I can only imagine that sustained use could be difficult without a case. The last main feature of the phone - it's integration of the Daydream VR technology also by Google - is unfortunately not something that I could test for this review. I suspect it's very good given the high resolution of the screen, but suspect is all I can do. Overall, I rate the Pixel very high, but not quite at the top of the pile. There's no question it's got the best software on the market. But the hardware very much feels like a first attempt no matter how I look at it. It's a very good first attempt, but still no doubt room for improvement. I think almost everyone would be happy with the phone as it is, and if the standout features are what you're looking for, then it'll probably be fantastic. But if you're holding out for expandable storage, a more compact design, or some of the more ambitious features Google has been prototyping, you may want to wait for the second generation. If this one is any indication, I anticipate great things.

Bought to replace my Note 7. Nice phone. Compatible in size to Note 7. Cool features, but not as many as Galaxy/ Note series. Locks up at random times. Usually fixed itself within 60 sec. Occasionally, I have to power it off to unfreeze. Overall, I'm happy but would much prefer the Note 7. Really miss the stylus.

I've gone through iPhones and Samsungs, but none have ever been so easy to use and so helpful. I love having important emails, reminders, traffic updates, sports stats all in just one swipe. And the picture quality? Out of this world.

With the pixel 2 coming out, the original is at a much better price and BB price matches! Getting this now can get you into a premium phone at a sub premium price, I love it, the best android phone on the market right now

I went to Best Buy for my phone purchase because I was so impressed with the person working in the phone area that had helped me out a couple months earlier. He explained the phone to me and it was a good purchase for me.

I feel this is the best android phone on the market. The phone operates well multitasking, even with several apps opened I never noticed the performance slow down. It's lightweight and just feels good in your hand. And the google assistant is out of this world, leaps and jumps pass others I have used. And the colors on the screen are very vivid and bright. I'm only on day two with the phone but so far the battery life has been great. I'm just very shocked at how seamless and easy everything has been to use with this phone.

The Pixel XL is the most stable and reliable Android phone I've owned. The voice recognition of Google Assistant is spot-on, and with Google behind it, I'm sure its capabilities will be kept up-to-date with similar technologies.

The phone is amazing, but the person who sold it to me didn't enroll me in my best buy when I made the purchase. I had talked to customer services and they told me there was nothing they could do about it after the fact.

I got this phone because I wanted a mainline phone but didn't want to pay $800 for brand new. It still works like a charm and plus it has a headphone jack which the Google Pixel 2 does not have.

I have had this phone for several months and it is a great daily driver. I don't like the fact that it isn't scratch and water resistant. What I really like and even love is that I can put all my videos and photos in my google photos cloud storage with free unlimited storage.

This was a great buy. Even though it is only available through Verizon, I bought it outright and just swapped the sim cards. The phone has worked tremendously and I would recommend this phone top anyone

I have used all types of cell phones since the first flip phone came out and I would say that this Google Pixel XL is probably one of the easiest phones to setup and use from out of the box. The features this phone has are easy to find and use. I really like that this phone is made by Google if you are used to using a lot of there services - gmail, google search, etc. The phone is fast and responsive. I really like the home button on that back that also is a fingerprint reader. The phone width on the XL is perfect and the phone just felt like a well built phone. I was curious how big the XL would be but right out of the box it felt comfortable. The phone worked great and sounded great. The wifi and Bluetooth paired quickly and connected quickly. The battery life on this phone is very good. I watched a 2 hour show on Hulu and after the phone battery was at 85% and that was at 7pm after the phone went thru the day with me at work. If you use a lot of the Google services you should think about purchasing the Google Pixel XL.

This phone runs Android and is the greatest phone at the time of this review. This is a world phone so you can use it on any carrier, not just Verizon, they are just the partner selling the phone.

I really like the phone with the touch pad to unlock. I have always preferred android, but this is the best. My last phone was a Samsung Galaxy 6. I much prefer this phone. Wasn't filled with all kinds of apps. The only down side is the data storage is limited.

The pixel is really a great phone in all aspects except one. The camera zoom is pretty terrible. I rarely take photos so this isn't a big deal to me. Therefore I highly recommend this phone.

I've been using both Android and iOS for a number of years now, but with this phone I finally feel like I could leave iOS behind completely. I rarely ever touch by my iPhone 6S Plus anymore.

The simplicity yet luxury that comes with this phone makes it stand above the rest. The Google assistant is awesome, it can recognize my voice in a crowded night club. No complaints.

It was for my son. I wanted him to go with the smaller one, but he wanted the larger. it's big. But absent that, nothing negative I can say about it. he also get the Echo and they pair nicely, as does his sony headphones with just a tap. All good.
