I guess say good bye to google chromecast and say hello to google tv streaming 4k, makes me laugh that google could never stick to one thing they either kill a product and creating something that’s technically the same product they got rid of. but google new tv streaming 4k I think they are finally on the right direction here, it new google design shows so much simplicity from the box to the main product itself.
-DESIGN-
again the moment I saw the box I was impressed how simple it looks. how light the box feels, and honestly there’s not much going inside either, the main google streaming 4k device is shaped like a bar of soap or a giant pill which ever comes to your mind first. and the remote remind me of an apple tv remote, but again it shape like a pill. the remote is very limited selection of button, only the buttons that matters you have the netflix and youtube dedicated button , home button, volume , mic, mute, power button, shortcut button and directional pad on top, with home button with it’s dedicated color, the box comes with 2 AAA batteries, would been nice the remote is charger as well.
-FEATURES-
when it comes to features this streaming box is equipped with built in internet port to guarantee a more consistent connection. it supports Dolby Atmos/ Vision. google claim this has 22% more faster processor, while testing browsing around the home screen moving around switching from different apps the speed is consistent. with a 32GB this is more than enough for all the app you use daily. you also have the ability to control google right from your tv. and yes you’ll still able to cast from your phone with google streaming 4k.
-CONCLUSION-
so far been enjoy this new google streaming 4k, I love the OS it’s very responsive did not see any slow down all apps I needed is here and way more. but I do have couple issues i’ve noticed. the first thing the moment I opened the box is how smooth and slick the remote is, when I mean slick this remote have zero grip on the back I feel like I have to be careful holding the remote due to feeling a high chance ok slipping. this one slippery remote that and maybe order a 3rd party remote case for it. using google home inside the google streaming 4k has missing features all the device I connected like front door camera and rgb right, google chrome doesn’t seems to replicate what’s on the phone. the only one that showing on my tv is my front camera clicking doesn’t show any image at all. rgb light settings that should have been on the list., google claim it support google photos well there’s nowhere to use google photo with this. I tried to search the appl through google streaming 4k and it shows up but I get a message that it’s currently not supported, so maybe later? overall it has there’s definitely some missing features. overall I think this device looks great the design looks elegant and I great piece to display. it’s fast and responsive, i’ll be waiting for the google app support to come out so we will see. I still recommend the device just the fact what it can do and not that expensive as well.

Like a faster Google TV

Anyone that used a recent Google TV or Chromecast with remote will find this familiar.
It's a faster version of Chromecast, with an improved remote and 32 GB of storage with over 26 Gb available to install apps and it's much faster than our old Android TV.
Like current Google TVs, it has plenty of TV apps available via the Play store, it analyzes what one watches and provides recommendations across different apps. The main screen makes it easy to watch content from different apps one after the other, including your YouTube history and some social media apps (TikTok, etc.).
The remote uses two AAA alkaline batteries (included), and it can control the TV powering it on and off via IR or HDMI, as well as volume control and depending on the TV, changing inputs.
It's voice enabled, so when pressing the assistant button, can use Ok Google to find TV content or control smart home devices that are integrated with Google Home, as well as showing camera content (As in, show me the front door camera). It also has a find remote button on the back of the unit that makes the remote beep.
The streamer is powered by USB-C. It comes with a long USB-C to USB cable and a power adapter that is a small USB plug. One can use another power supply if it provides enough power, and this doesn't require much.
Unlike the Chromecast, it has a built-in Ethernet in addition to Wi-Fi. I'm using Ethernet and works great.
Unlike Chromecast, the HDMI cable is not included. Make sure to get an 'Ultra High Speed' or one that supports 48Gbps if the TV supports Dolby Vision.
This streamer also improves in supporting Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos in addition to other HDR and audio formats.
The other major improvement and likely the reason this is a 'tabletop' device instead of dangling on the back of the TV, is that this also has a Thread radio so it acts as a Thread Border Router for Matter devices. This is important if using Google Home, as it's always on and allows to remotely control Matter devices that use Thread radios, without the need to have a Google Nest hub. There is no Google Home app on this, so besides acting as a hub for Google Home apps, one can control devices and view cameras via the Google voice assistant on the remote.
The tabletop part of the streamer is light cream matte and slopes down in the front making it look more like a pebble. It's very small. I think it could've been another dongle but the radios will likely work much better when on a table.
If your TV isn't smart, or it fell behind the times, and you prefer the Google TV experience, this works great. It makes any TV a Google TV.

The setup:
Very simple on screen instructions. Once you connect your email address, it’s pretty much your google account on tv. All your apps, photos (optional), library like your purchases, rentals etc is all available on screen. Google assistant is also usable. There were no issues with connecting to wifi, although I have mine wired now.
The remote is universal. It found the code to my sound bar so now I can just use 1 remote! That was unique to do.
The google tv is very clean and I like the simple tan vanilla-ish color. It was packaged nice.
Once in, I noticed brighter colors and the sound was louder vs another streamer I have. The 4K movies pop a little more and it is very smooth, no flickering.
The menu setup can seem confusing at first, but at the top u have your categories like live, apps, and library. The best option to use, for me, was the apps because it’s organized and it’s easy to find your specific app vs scrolling and scrolling.
The experience is very simple and not overwhelming. Everything connects like it should. The best part is having google assistant. Enjoy!

To start off, I've been enjoying the new Google TV Streamer for around the past week.
Setup was a little tedious and requires Google Home, but also straight forward if you're already part of the current Google ecosystem of smart home speakers and displays. Not much else to say about the initial setup. Everything about the streamer seems quite refined and well tested.
PROS:
This is 100% faster than the competitor product I was using prior. There are certain apps missing from the Google TV store that I would like to see, but I'm hoping that the company will eventually add them long term.
This is my second experience with an official Google TV remote and I have to say that everything is laid out well. I had trouble with battery drain on a competitor product, but it's yet to be determined if that's a problem on this end. I really appreciate using the "find my remote" button on the back of the receiver as I would constantly misplace it with my older devices. Very convenient.
CONS:
They went with a lower cost chip. AC WIFI is 2 generations old at this point. Might be a limitation of the chosen SoC, but I would have liked to see a minimum of AX generation WIFI HW via 2x2 antenna for long term futureproofing. I'm sure this device will be refreshed in 2-3 years when newer HW revisions become cost centric.
The Google TV streamer also doesn't include an HDMI cable. Might not be a con per say, but I would recommend using a cable capable of 4K60 via spec. A lot of older cables may not be capable of this and distort while pushing high bandwidth.
SUBJECTIVE:
While this is honestly the fastest streamer I've used, I can't help but mention that you can find a competitive "Google TV OS" product for around half the cost. I'm positive this one has strongest variation of hardware and storage, but there may be diminishing returns for some people.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
Would be nice if they started adopting TV tuners (2-4 count) and Coax input via 2nd device so that you could stream Antenna TV to all rooms with Google TV. I've been wanting something like that without the need to switch to the smart TV's UI.. (Mine is very slow)... but there's only 1-2 options on market and require jumping through hoops via Plex or 3rd party app. Just an idea if google does read this!
CONCLUSION:
I think it's very a solid product, but you're going to have to weigh the pros and cons for your needs. I personally wish it offered more for the money, but it's not bad either. It does what you expect, but lacks the value proposition in a saturated market.

Great product. Fast, smooth, apps load quickly and no connection issues. Picture is great too. Plenty of storage and RAM. I like that it has extra features like Google Home and some AI (could care less about AI). I have two of them. All in all, highly recommend!

I have used streaming devices from Amazon, Roku, Apple, and Google. I have found that the google and apple ones seem to work the best for my needs. We have started to change our devices to google tv as they function with our other google home devices.
This streaming device was pretty simple to setup if you use google home to do so. You can also manually setup the device, but I just did it through the google home app and it made the process very easy and pretty much logged me into most of my apps. I like the fact you can have multiple users on one device. This would be helpful if I had children or teens, but for us two adults we tend to just use one profile but have the second one setup just in case.
I had this connected to my TV via HDMI through the TV that is connected to a sound bar. Sound quality is very good, and I thought it sounded a little better than the built in streaming device built into the tv. I next tried it on our projector, but for this setup the soundbar needs to be connected via Bluetooth. Connecting to my soundbar was no problem, the sound was perfectly synced with the video, and I didn't notice any degradation of sound quality. This was a huge plus as the soundbar is far away from the projector and I didn't want to move the soundbar to a new spot.
Video quality is also fantastic. I had this first connected to a 4k 120hz Sony Bravia TV (has built in google tv as well) and the video quality looked perfect and had no issues. Next it was connected to our projector that is only 1080p and the video was just as good as the 4K Apple TV we had connected to it before. Again, no issues and we are super happy with the video quality of the google TV device.
Aside from the excellent video and audio quality we love the built in google features. I like the fact I can turn on or off our lights and other devices along with view our cameras. Since I already have google home setup there was nothing else that needed to be done, and I could view the cameras with ease on my projector. This is nice as our projector is in the basement and we do not have a google hub down there and this allows us to utilize the google home features that we love.
The device itself is pretty small and has an HDMI port, ethernet port, and a USB power point. There is also a button to help find the remote if you misplace it. I sorta wish they had a second USB port so you could connect a thumb drive or hard drive to play videos/photos directly from it. Not the end of the world since you can connect your phone to it anyways to display videos or photos to it.
I like the remote and it's easy to use and navigate with. During the setup of the google streamer it helped me configure the remote to use with my TV or soundbar. The remote will also turn on or off the TV, so you can put away the other remotes you have and just use this one. If I had one complaint is the color. White gets dirty quickly and I really wish it was black instead, that's just me being picky as I cannot find any real faults with this system.
I really like this streaming device and so happy to have it setup for our basement projector. The operating system is super easy to use and I believe anyone could use this once its setup. This would be perfect for someone who is not over technical as everything is easy to use and apps load up quickly.

I've used the Roku, Fire Stick, and the built-in streaming features on Samsung and LG. Google is by far the best performing and most intuitive. Setup is simple. The remote is uncomplicated. Plays well with all TVs. Interesting note: I have a Sony TV with Google TV built in. I thought it was laggy and the picture quality was poor. I got the external Google Streamer and had a huge improvement.

I’ve been using the Google Streamer for a couple of weeks now, and honestly, I’m blown away by how much it’s improved my TV-watching experience. Setting it up was a breeze—literally plugged it in and was ready to stream within minutes. The interface is super easy to navigate, which I appreciate because I’m not the most tech-savvy person.
One of the coolest things is the integration with Google Assistant. I can just talk to it to find my shows, adjust the volume, or even control my lights! It feels pretty futuristic. The picture quality is also top-notch. I mostly stream in 4K when I can, and the colors and clarity are incredible.
Another huge plus is how fast everything loads. I haven’t experienced any buffering, even when watching movies in high resolution. It also works with all the apps I use, like Netflix, Disney+, and even some lesser-known ones. Google keeps it updated, so I don’t have to worry about it becoming outdated anytime soon.
All in all, it’s been a great addition to my setup, and I honestly don’t know how I got by without it before. If you’re in the market for a streaming device, I’d definitely recommend the Google Streamer.

Fantastic product, super easy to setup after a slightly long power up time where it does all its software updates, after that if you have a Google account everything is quick. Most apps are QR sign in now so that goes quick. The memory storage is huge, love the remote and ease of use . Very fast load times too

Love the fact that Google gave the TV streamer a built-in Ethernet port and extra storage over the Google TV 4K. The extra storage makes this a very capable little gaming box for the price. The remote is little bit bigger than the older model, has a better placed volume control button and the lost remote button is absolutely amazing. I don't love the fact that it's a larger footprint and double the price of the older model but the new features very much make up for that. I've never been too impressed with the default Google TV launcher but this supports Projectivy Launcher just fine and allows me to declutter my home screen as much as I want.

A rocky start, but ultimately pretty solid — At first, I was let down by the Google TV Streamer 4K. It felt sluggish, occasionally froze, and I was pretty skeptical. But after a few updates, things turned around. Navigation became smoother, app loading picked up, and overall it started to feel like a dependable device that just needed some polish. Now, it’s a decently fast streamer with a great interface—definitely better than where it began.

This is an awesome product. It is so much faster than my FireTv 4k Max. Plus, I do not have the hassle of limited storage and needing to offload an app. I am looking to get another one. I have a 4K Tv. I am not sure if my picture quality is improved. I will get back to you. The remote is very intuitive.

Wow! I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase from BestBuy. From the moment I started using it, I could tell this product was top-notch. The quality is superb, and it performs even better than I expected. It was incredibly easy to set up and start using right away.
I've been looking for something like this for a while, and this product checks all the boxes. It's intuitive, efficient, and has already made a noticeable positive difference. The design is sleek, and it feels very durable.
BestBuy really delivered on this one. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a streaming device. It's truly a five-star experience!

I already loved the chromecast’s with Google tv, but this streamer is awesome. Much faster, more storage and can be hard wired and the renote finder is more than ideal especially with kids. Super solid buy and can’t wait to buy a few more. Makes a great gift too.

I was curious to this Google TV Streamer and how this fared against the already installed apps in my Television. I have a smart television that is already 5 years old, and it has been showing its age with dead pixels and frustratingly slow responses to the Menu button. So I wanted to see how this Google TV Streamer was, how fast and the image quality it provided.
Opening the box, you see the typical minimalist Google aesthetic of a plain and off-white (porcelain) oval device. It only came with the remote control and USB-C power cord. I mistakenly took the cord as what I needed to install to the television and I noticed nothing was happening. To my embarassment, this was supposed to connect to either a power brick or USB-C power source while I provide a HDMI cable for the actual connection. Once I figured that out, I was met with the Google installation which took only minutes once I logged into my Google account.
The interface is really fast and responsive. I was able to navigate to all the apps that I normally use on my television and they easily logged me in either QR codes or logging into the saved email and password combination.
The whole watching experience has been an utter joy with this. The image quality is truly amazing and clear, even compared to what I was using the apps on the television. The remote navigation, home and power buttons are equally responsive. Each app that I use to watch is very clear and you are just left stunned with the 4k quality.
The only draw back that I encountered is that the volume controls do not work on this so I am still using either the sound bar remote or the television one.
Overall, I am. very pleased with the Google TV Streamer. I love how easy it is to use and the video quality.

I've owned every Chromecast that Google has released and this is by far their best iteration of the Chromecast line. It's more of a set top box now but still very slim, very portable, and can connect via Ethernet if needed for higher connection speeds. The biggest difference I experienced while using this new Chromecast was the speed of the software. There weren't any delays in input and I could go into the apps I downloaded quickly and start streaming right away. One cool feature of this new Chromecast is the ability to add shortcuts to the remote. I was able to add the shortcut to show me my Google Home devices such as my 3 Google cameras, my front door deadbolt lock, lighting, temperature controls, etc. I'm able to control all of that through the Chromecast which is pretty awesome. The only thing you can't do right now is talk back to someone through the doorbell camera or watch history of the cameras. If you didn't want to program that shortcut for Google Home controls you could also have it go to a favorite app that's not already listed on the controller itself or have it be a certain input on your TV in case you have another HDMI device connected to your TV. I also found it awesome that you can ask Google to locate your TV remote and it'll beep until you've found it. There's been numerous occasions where Chromecast remotes go missing for several days and I'm forced to use my phone as a controller but those days are now behind us. Overall, the clarity of the content, the smoothness of the software, and the added features of the controller make this the best Chromecast to be released.

I have been using the Google TV streamer for a while now, and I like it. The remote is comfy if a little small, and the remote finder feature is the best I've used. The speaker in the remote is a loud piezoelectric speaker that I have no trouble hearing. I wasn't sure I was gonna like Google TV, but the modularity of it got it to grow on me. I use the Projectivy Launcher, which is free on the Play Store with an eight dollar upgrade, and I bought the upgrade. Projectivy Launcher gets rid of the obnoxious ads and lets you go as wild or simple as you want. My layout is just streaming services in a line and an animated background. You don't need this specific streamer to use Projectivy, you can do the same with a Chromecast with Google TV, TCL, Sony, Hisense, Onn box and anything else with the Google TV operating system. My big gripe with the Google TV streamer is the steep price for what you get. I think a hundred dollars is pretty steep, I think if it had more processing power, then sure, but it's not as fast as, say, the Apple TV. I think a second gen streamer should come with a better processor without a price hike.

Love it! We are a Google family, we have 2 of the previous, Google TV units, 3 regular Chromecast and now the GoogleTV Streamer. Works great, I love the remote finder feature which is new, as well as the amazing picture quality. Definitely would recommend it!!
