But it is missing full audio codec support to playback ripped blu ray in their full detail. Some files just won’t play properly. It is a nice device, it has plenty of video codecs available, DV HDR10+. It is speedier than last gen but the nvidia shield is still my go to. If you aren’t worried about plex file support and have a Samsung tv, the streamer is a great option for hdr10+ along with the newest Apple TV. It is nice that it runs the latest version of google tv

An issue with random echoing sounds when set to Bitstream on my external speakers. Keep in mind speakers are over 15 yrs old. Probably can be fixed with an update.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful Streaming device and solved an issue I had with my Apple TV 4K. I loved my apple streamer because I have ipads that it could communicate with. The issue is that it did not communicate well with my JBL sound bar in that I would lose sound at times and would have to go back a page or restart the apple box. I have another apple box amd JBL sound bar on another tv with same results. This does not happen with the Google TV Streamer 4K.

App search is quite flawed, and Google Play Store app is deeply nested into system settings, almost impossible to find. The device itself is snappy and easy to use.

Now the remote works okay, but super slippery and seems to be for small hands. Ordered a remote case from Amazon but like usual it's late delivery

I will update my review once that is completed. Setting up Google products are always more tedious than expected, but once set up it’s always good

Coming from the older Google casting/Tv products, this unit is fast! Tons of space to download apps, and the integrated Google home tab is a nice addition. Now have two of these!

No complaints from me, worth the 99$. My roku TV was getting old and slow , so now im just useing this though the HDMI and wow the difference!

The response between applications is very smooth. If you're in the market to upgrade then get it, but if you already have the Chromecast then there's no rush to change.

However, the remote's d-pad can stick from time to time, causing you to zoom past your selection, or can fail to respond. I also miss having a rechargeable remote. In contrast, the Roku has a less appealing interface, but their remotes are rechargeable and more responsive. I'd pay $50-100 more for a truly high-end Google Streamer with the same interface, a bulletproof remote, and specs to match the old but venerable NVIDIA Shield. Too bad nobody wants to make it.

Posted .Hey there, KRSFun. Thank you for providing your insight for your Google TV Streamer (4K). We're happy that you are enjoying the OS and the improved speed. That said, here are some quick troubleshooting steps for when you feel the remote is not responsive:
Remove both batteries from the remote.
Reinsert them and check if the LED flashes twice.
If the LED doesn’t flash twice, remove and reinsert the batteries within two seconds. Repeat if needed.
If the LED still doesn’t flash twice, replace the batteries with the original ones that came with the remote. If these batteries aren't available, use two fresh 1.5-volt AAA batteries.
Lastly, remove both batteries, wait 5 minutes, then reinsert them while checking for the LED to flash twice.
